    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  5 років тому +1

      tammy anderson yes. You can still add GAC100 as that acts as the sealer. Gesso is a primer that prepares the surface for painting. So because I am adding yupo, to the panel gesso isn’t necessary but I still would seal it.

    I have one question. Would you say it’s necessary to resin coat it after or is UV&varnish spray enough?? Jane, I'm just loving your videos! Thank you for generously sharing your ideas and skills. You are a gifted teacher. Anyway, I was just wondering: why prime the board with GAC 100 if the next step is to mount Yupo on it? I thought that the priming was to avoid Support Induced Discoloration, but if non-pourous Yupo is in between the board and the paint/ink/etc, then I'm wondering if the step is necessary. is there another reason why you are priming the board besides to avoid SID? Anyway, thank you for your great videos. You are inspiring to me!

    Very Cool! Do you seal your artwork with anything before mounting it to the birch wood?

      Kathi Bell I don't only because I finish my work with a layer of resin. But if I were leaving it as is then I would spray with a quality grade matte archival art finish.

    Hi Jane. Thank you for your tutorials. They are extremely helpful!! Is it possible to mount yupo on wood panel if the yupo is slightly warped from a heat gun? I assume it will be difficult to get it to adhere flush with the panel and therefore the resin won't self level. Look forward to your reply. Thanks! Liz

    great help! but I can’t find the list of supplies where shall I look ? Also when you prime the Birch panel do you do it on all sides or just the side your painting goes on ?

      Geraldine Powell prime where you are painting. I should have a link to my shop in the description box. But you should be able to find most products locally if you have an art supply store in your area. 😊

    Hi Jane, Thank you so much for sharing your tips. As a newbie, it is appreciated! You mentioned there would be a link to the plywood boxes but I didn't see it. Can you provide this link? I suppose the boxes can be self made to? Thank you, Corry

    Hi Jane, great video, do you ever colour the board with coloured gesso or similar then glue patterned Yupo onto coloured board if so what are you using to glue Yupo onto primed board

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 років тому

      Mark Lovelock no need to colour gesso if you’re covering it up with yupo. The glue I used here in the video is by Liquitex

    i am a little confused. so i first prime the birchwood with GAC 100 and then apply a coat of the matte gel afterwards? or you can use either one or the other?
