    I have a tip to share!
    I had alcohol ink all over my hands the other day, tired 99% rubbing alcohol but couldn't get it off! Later in the day, I was playing w lemongrass essential oil and it removed every tiny bit of alcohol ink!

    For smaller projects, you can also use the color swatch samples at paint stores. It holds the ink very well

    To save some money while learning, Kirkland brand photo paper works as well as Yupo and is less expensive. Any non-porous paper will work with alcohol inks.
    I’d recommend nitrile gloves and possibly a mask and well ventilated space if you’re using 99% isopropyl and alcohol inks.

    Hello Jane Monteith...WoW!! I just became a member of your site, and this "recycle use" of the bottle does work for me...I throw almost nothing away - to the complaint of my family but my art stuff IS my art and they Do Not mess with it. Now, this spraying technique you used with the almost empty ink bottle -- WoW, I love it, no I LOVE IT. What is created from the spray is left to interpretation as far as what it can be, but is out of this world>>>>Way Out! Oh, I have been a creator/doodler/what ever happens happens in art kind of a kind of a person, and I have been doing this for some time now. I began it when I was younger (single digit years), and I am no longer that young, but still I want to change things up as far as being creative. As far as making art, there is no age to stop so I have many more years to go yet. Keep on Keeping on.

    Just a warning - don’t use blending solution in a sprayer as it contains resin & you definitely do not want to inhale that. I don’t know if the clean-up solution is the same, but worth checking

    Tim Holtz ,from Ranger, said to never spray blending solution (? what you called clean up solution) , because the resin can get on the lining of your lungs... Permanently !! I've seen videos of other people spraying this and they add a disclaimer that you should wear a respirator mask of some sort.

    Great video! I originally found you on Instagram and love your work!
    You may already know this but if you don’t, I thought you might be interested to know that the extender/ cleaner works exactly the same as standard rubbing alcohol (I use 91%). It cleans brushes, your work area and hands, and has the same effect that the extender has on the alcohol inks.
    I have a sneaking suspicion that the extender is really just rubbing alcohol but I could definitely be wrong! Either way, if all you’re going for is the effect and a clean up solution, the rubbing alcohol is a far more cost effective option at $0.99 for 16 oz as opposed to Piñatas extender at $7.62 for 0.5 oz.
    Anyway, love your work and your UA-cam channel! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your passion with others.

    • @JaneMonteith
      @JaneMonteith  6 років тому

      Abbigail Chester hey there. Thanks for the kind words. There are similarities, yes. The Clean Up solution works the same as the pure alcohol except it has hardly any smell. The alcohol also works similar to the extender except the alcohol will take away the sheen. I like to use the Jacquard products because of the low odour. Thanks so much for watching 😊😊

    • @johngo6283
      @johngo6283 6 років тому +2

      Abbigail, the extender/blending solution is not the same as plain rubbing alcohol. Not sure about the Pinata brand, but the Ranger brand has several additional compounds (like ethyl glycol) in it that make the ink behave slightly differently. Most people find that when using straight alcohol with ink, you can get more hard edges, whereas with blending solution you get more soft edges. Which one you use depends on the look that you are after. You can easily make your own blending solution and save quite a bit of money, here is a link how to do it: www.inkartbybethkluth.com/single-post/2017/07/01/The-real-recipe-for-Alcohol-Blending-Solution

    • @annesart141
      @annesart141 4 роки тому

      @@johngo6283 Thank you for that link. And the information there makes it look like it is not safe to spray the blending solution as in tip #1.

    • @AliceNsWonderland
      @AliceNsWonderland 5 років тому

      I've tried about 10 different adhesives; I've found good ole supper glue works best and it doesn't warp the yupo as some of the adhesives did. Doesn't take much. I also used a decoupage roller tool w/ a piece of parchment paper btwn yupo & roller to get a really flat surface w/o getting glue on the roller

      I think you're referring to Brusho Crystal Colors or Ken Oliver Color Bursts or Paper Artsy Infusions. Those are three brands that I know of. Infusions contain walnut crystals in addition to the pigment powder, which gives them a more vintage effect.

      Jamie Villeneuve - no they are not the same and behave very differently as well. Although very different, I love each medium with their individual attributes 💖
