Thank you so much for your kind words!
I've been making this dish for months and we love it. A few days ago when I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to fuss making the sauce, I simply grilled the chicken thighs after they marinated for 24 hours. WOW, this is my new go-to way to make grilled chicken. It's fantastic! Today I sliced it thin and made a wrap with a little yogurt, green onions and shredded carrots. I've never been so sad to finish my lunch.
Yay for the curry series! I've made your chicken curry this week and it was delicious! Thanks to your recipes and books we make Indian food at home at least once a week :)
That is music to my ears, so so happy to hear that!
I'm so happy to have found you on UA-cam, and to have found your curry series. I enjoyed you on Great British Bake Off.
This recipe is amazing!
I had the chicken marinating in my fridge overnight, and was looking forward to trying this all day. It was totally worth it!
I didn't deviate too much from the recipe, only changes I had to make, was substitute kashmiri chilli powder for a mix of paprika and cayenne pepper (as I saw recommended in some forums) and I got whole chicken legs, which I then deboned, and ended up with probably about 200g less meat. I still think the meat to vegetable/curry ratio was plenty and the spiciness was rly perfect for me.
Long story short, I will definetly do this again
That is so amazing, so glad you enjoyed it, I love making this too!
Is the printed recipe available anywhere? Everything I make has been fabulous!
First time ever cooking Indian food and I’m loving it.
This is very similar to your first recipe you posted a long time ago! I've made it a bunch of times, and it is WONDERFUL. Nicely done!
Thanks Melody, next time try this one, it has a few changes in it.
Beautiful presentation. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I am going to make this week end. One more time many many thanks, madame.
Thanks Venu!
i love your recipes, i’ve made your regular chicken tikka masala recipe many times. it’s always turned out perfect. i have a few friends who are lactose intolerant or can’t eat dairy, so i was wondering what else can i marinate the chicken in other than yogurt and still get a similar flavour/effect?
thanks so much for sharing so many amazing recipes! you’ve really helped me explore indian cooking which was so intimidating until you and your channel helped break it down for me. cheers!
Thank you so much, so happy to hear I could help with your Indian cooking. Have you tried dairy free yogurt? I have not tried it myself but it might be worth trying?
Just what I like!
A super-simple, tasty recipe, and, good camerawork.
Thank you Chetna.
xx!
Thanks Tim!
I made this today. Delicious. 👏🙏🏻 Thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing your favorite foods, your hometown and your great recipes. I think that some of the most flavorful foods in the greatest variety of foods are from India.
I tried this recipe and it was delicious!! Thanks for sharing!
Yoohoo!
Just made this for tea tonight. It was epic! Didnt have time for a long marinade but it still worked beautifully and got loads left over for another day. This is going to be a staple curry recipe from now on! i loved the texture and creaminess from the cashews and the chicken was so tender from roasting. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the way she says healthy
😍😍
I'm new to your channel. I love Indian food and this is a gem thank you for your content.
Just tucking into this right now, it's delicious!
Yeah
Made this over the weekend - excellent both fresh and left over. Thanks for yet another reliable, simple, delicious meal, Chetna!
Thanks so much Diane, so glad to hear this. Makes me so so happy
Chetna, I was so happy to come across your channel. I was a huge fan when you were on the Great British’s Baking Show (USA).
welcome to the channel Robert
I have just found you! Wow, so simple and the joy you had eating it...I can't wait for dinner now as I will be cooking this.
Loving the slightly new video format! :) Great recipe, I'll definitely give it a go. You've been always my go-to channel for Indian cuisine.
That is so good to hear!
Love that you use the whole tomato with seeds and skin. I realize you cook it down to very soft and sometimes purée it to make a sauce but all of the tomato is included.
Still coming back to this recipe i just love it and so does everyone else
This channel is just a delight. Going through every vid I haven't seen and loving all the new things I'm picking up (yes, I also dislike cooking my chicken without the bones). This is a gem I'm not keeping to myself.
yeah, thank you so much and so glad you are enjoying the recipes here.
I made your chicken curry recipe today and it went down well as always :) looking forward to trying this one out!
Yeah! so happy to hear that!
I made this tonight and it was so delicious! I had no yogurt and a lot of buttermilk, so I used that instead. I think will add SLIGHTLY less kashmiri next time. For my tastes, this is the hottest I want to go. But I still went for seconds and look forward to the leftovers. Served with naan and rice (there goes the healthy part, oops ) and a Cote Du Rhone. Thank you so much for this fantastic recipe Chetna!
Yes I always so to use chilli powder according to taste but so glad you enjoyed it.
OMG... I can serve this dish in a sit-down dinner party! My good friends will love it.
Yes absolutely
The temperature outside has dipped into the 20s. This is the perfect dish to keep me inside and keep me warm. Thanks again, Chetna!
So true, great curry for this weather.
This recipe was out of this world !!! I made this today and it was so sooooo good, only since i dont have an oven i sauteed the chicken in a non stick pan before adding it in the masala - hats off chetna would surely try other recipes soon too ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
Oh wow, that looks amazing definitely trying this one. Thankyou Chetna.
You are welcome Gary
CHETNA!! I saw you on the first season of the Great British Baking show. My family loves you! You have a lot more fans than subscribers, I hope you receive the recognition you deserve. You’re so much fun to watch, and you’ve got the best recipes!
Thanks a lot Elizabeth and so glad you like my recipes.
Just made this one tonight and everyone agreed it was in the top three, probably #2 of all of your curries that I've made so far. It was AMAZING. Thank you.
wow
I recently round your UA-cam channel and I am so thankful! The first thing I made was the butter chicken, which was absolutely gorgeous!!! I've just made this chicken tikka masala and the boyfriend made some of your naans with chilli garlic and onion seeds. Amazing!!!! Better than a take away that's for sure!!! And cheaper! : )
My husband is a very picky eater. He walked in the house last night, after I made your tikka masala and said, "It smells so good in here!". We had the tikka and the gobhi alu for lunch and he ate it ALL! It was so delicious! Thank you!
Watching your videos makes me miss India in the depths of my soul. I cant wait to make this to take my tastebuds back
Yes please do try and hope you will enjoy it too
Tried and tested on Friday night. Absolutely awesome. Family loved it.
Thanks Chetna.
Thanks for trying Mike and so glad you enjoyed it
Jus t discovered your channel. I have now given up on BIR curries. Wonderful dishes with lovely relaxed and very professional presentation. Best Indian food channel I have come across. Thank you so much.
Wow yum yum. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful lady.
Hi Chetna, this curry look delicious, I’m looking forward to making it!!
Can I just ask - when you add the spices and onion & green pepper, then the cooked chicken - how long do you cook it for (i.e cook the spices for) before you are ready to serve it?
Thank you 😊🙏
The onion and green pepper dont need too much cooking as you really want that crunch in the veg so once all is added and bubbling, its ready to be served.
Thank you Chetna 😊🌟
I absolutely love your Chicken Tikka Masala recipe that is on Jamie Oliver's channel! I've cooked it for family, friends, neighbors and everybody loved it (my neighbors even knocked on the door after a few mins and asked for more!)
So I am very excited to try this recipe! It is very similar, but the marinade is different and you don't use whole spices. I wonder what recipe you prefer or think tastes better? 😄 Much love from Germany!
I do love this one!
I love you and your recipes. Could you have a tasty recipe for Brussels Sprouts? Thanks.
Tasty and brussel sprouts dont go together! ;))))
Hi Chetna,
I tried it today, followed exactly same steps, turned out THE best chicken i have ever made in my life, All thanks to you for such a lovely recipe, Lot’s of Love to you😍

Wow Mam! This looks so amazing, I can even smell it 😍
Yes! please do try it.
This is truly a company worthy dish. Loved it! I've also tried your mango and cardamom cake, and paneer curry. Both were divine. I am now a fan! Keep it up Chetna. :)

You are so lovely! My husband is really enjoying my homemade Indian food...thanks to YOU!! So, so delicious and your books are a must have!
Love your recipes 😋
Admission: I had to leave out the cloves and the turmeric. And I don’t know what this should actually taste like.
That being said, this is soooo good! I’ve outdone myself once again😉…thx to you!😁
dont worry about those 2, glad you enjoyed it
Looks amazing! I want to try it soon! Thank you! ^^
Hope you like it!
Oh this looks amazing 👌
Omg looks very delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to try this!!
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I love this recipe!
amazing video!!! thanks for sharing this recipe with us.
Love your currys and the channel
_Healthy_ chicken tikka masala, who needs that, haha. Is this any different from the recipe you had on food tube? It looks similar from what I remember. That one is excellent, BTW and I like to make it from time to time. If I want to use chicken thighs with bone I have to cook it a bit longer, haven't I? I also like to put the sauce in the blender to get a smooth sauce.
Yes you can blitz the sauce and yes this is slightly different to that recipe so next time you want tikka masala then try this one and let me know your thoughts!
Can i ask what spice mix is the masala? Thanks so much for this recipe!
@@AnastasiaBurchick Which masala?
Food with Chetna sorry i meant for this recipe you have a Garam spice mix but i was wondering if its a special brand you suggest or one you make, if you have a recipe for that mix? Thanks so much!
@@AnastasiaBurchick this is the link for garam masala recipe which is on her channel

I’m salivating
Hey Chetna, is it possible to substitute the cashews with something else to make it creamy? P.S - I could smell the deliciousness through the computer screen! Thanks for the recipe x
Yes you could use a bit of double cream once the curry has cooked
I love your recipes and swear by them! Would you by any chance know how to substitute the amounts of garlic/ginger used here for Garlic & Ginger Paste? I don't make curries as often as I should so ginger doesn't keep as long as I'd like. I've been using 1 tablespoon for every clove of garlic or inch of ginger - does that sound about right? Also my sister is one of those unfortunate people for whom Corriander tastes like soap ): - I sometimes just add less or leave it out altogether. I know it's an essential ingredient, but you wouldn't know something I could substitute if I feel it's lacking something?
Ok so with the paste, just use 1 tbsp for 2-3 cloves as it can be strong. If you buy ginger and freeze the whole piece then you can just grate it from frozen and refreeze the rest, no waste. As for the coriander you either use it or not, there is really no substitute for it. You can of course serve everyone and sprinkle in over the curries for who ever wants it and leave your sisters bowl. Hope that helps.
Omg I’m salivating right now!! That looks so delicious 🤤🤤🤤
Thanks so much, I love this curry!
Yum chetna. Never see kashmiri chilli powder in supermarkets....do you get it online x
Yes in some stores. You can use any other milder chilli powder in its place.
Your recipes are so organized and easy to follow. This looks excellent, and I can’t wait for the rest of the series! Thanks, Chetna!
Yeah! thanks Yoshiko
Hi Team Food With Chetna,
If possible could you please add nutrition values in the description too. It's really helpful for those who are trying to keep a track of calories they are consuming.
Thanks!
Better than a lot of recipes
Thanks
Hi Chetna can I
ask if we can make this recipe without adding nuts for nut allergy sufferers or suggest some alternatives?
Yum
Thanks
Hello my dear sister 💖🌹
I love all your video food recipes etc 😋 thank you,
From jarna
Looks delicious Chetna. I love chicken tikka masala, but I have been dieting so I haven’t touched Indian food in a while. Do you think I could do skim or 2% milk with the cashews and use extra virgin olive oil instead of the oil you used? Or will that alter the texture or flavor?
I think all oils have the same calorie count. EVO is heart healthy oil so I'd go with that, but I'd use half the amount. 1% or 2% milk would work, I think and if it seems too watery, then cook it down a bit. I often change recipes around without a problem. You could also use fat-free Icelandic or Greek yogurt instead of milk and nuts.
😍 sooo great! Love it!
Thanks a lot
What type of garam masala do you use for the marinade and later in the sauce?
Great videos
You can find the recipe for my garam masala on my channel
I used half of the spices and still very hot … but pretty good. Thanks
Sounds great!
Thanks for this! gonna have to try it with my girlfriend!
Hi Chetna, I have eaten in England something different under "Tikka Masala" name... like more "tomatish". May I consider your recipe being the "authentic" one?
Dear Chetna I have a bag of chicken fillets frozen, could I use them x Thankyou so much
Great video. What if you cannot eat cashews? Any alternative?
Yes you can skip that and add a bit of double cream at the end instead
With the spices for the chicken sorry but couldn’t understand what you said....? Tambuli masala..could you please tell me. Thanks
Omg this is Thursday's dinner sorted.
Yeah!!!!! enjoy
we made this it was schmackky thx
YES, I love chicken thighs but BONELESS, I want to relax when eating dinner, not having to pull the meat off the bones.
Totally personal preference
Two question:
1. When adding the spices to the sauce, you said “teaspoon” but the quantity looks like Tablespoon. Can someone please confirm.
2. What does the yogurt do, exactly? Diary free here, so want to make sure I use the proper substitute.
Thanks!!
Does Greek yogurt work instead of natural yogurt for the marinade?
Hi
Very nice pls can you list if items to buy pls
love t ?he recipe but is there alternative to the cashew nuts ?
You could use some double cream
Brilliant Chetna
Thanks
I will make this to eat on my ASMR CHANNEL thank you SO MUCH 😊
Hi if we got alergic with nut can i change with coconut milk
Thank you for your kind recipe! btw, it was the first time for me to make tikka masala and i followed your recipe(skipped some part though-no tandoori powder and cashnut) but i guess i made mistake or something while making. The one that I made tastes somewhat bitter. is there any way to reduce it?
Thanks for trying the recipe. Did you add something other than tandoori masala?
You are the BEST
How do you normally reheat it?
just in a pan like the same as I am cooking it or in a ceramic bowl in the microwave.
Which book of yours is this in? Trying to work out macros
Just made it for dinner! Tasted really great! But I struggled a little bit how long I should cook the onion and the pepper at the end.
You dont have to cook the onion and pepper, it just needs to be added at the end so then they remain crunchy
Hello chetna, what's the names of the spices especially the masala and chilli powder please?
Can you use coconut milk and or coconut yogurt as a substitute if you are lactose intolerant?
yes you can use coconut milk though it will change the flavours completely, but maybe you could use some cashewnut paste instead
Food with Chetna thank you for responding!
Iove u are the best ♥♥♥♥♥
Thanks
Can you please link to the wok you use. x
❤️
Hey chetna di.. Can we use chicken with bones?
yes yes but make sure you cook it for longer
