- I WANT A RED DOT, but don't have a MOD slide ... Easy Red dot instillation on this video! With this product, you don't need to send your slide in and get it all cut up. The last thing I want to do, as an advent shooter, is to take apart my gun for weeks at a time and hope that the shop I sent it to, doesn't mess up my slide and make it either off center, or drill in the wrong screws. With the DPP you don't have to worry! Put it on, or take it back off for that basic look again whenever you want to. No worrying about your sliding coming back to you in worse shape than you sent it off.

The DPP was good at the time, but there are issues with it. This company found the solution to those problems! Check out my other video ..... trust me, it'll be worth your while! ua-cam.com/video/BIx2QSiD5yQ/v-deo.html
Everybody who bothers to do such an informative vid gets a thumbs up.
Hey thank you very much for the support!
Hopefully youtube doesn't strike it down as they tend to do with videos like this. They have some bullshit rules on this because they consider it modifying a firearm usually. Most people wont even show video's on putting grips and such on a gun. Great video though keep it up.

This is exactly what I needed. I have a Gen 3 Glock 35 and I want to add an optic. I didn’t want something that would move while shooting. This is a great video. Thanks Jeff.
Thank you for the support! I hope it helps!

Thanks, Jeff! I have a Glock, mod 30 that I've wanted to add a red dot to but didn't want to go through the hassle and expense of sending the slide in for the modification. Appreciate the video and info! JD (Michigan)
Hey man I really appreciate the support!! I hope it worked out!
EGW makes mounts for the popular optics and glocks, what I like about them is the progressive taper on the dovetail...you need a press tool to install..but it is the most solid fit I have tried yet...it basically becomes part of the slide.
or a hammer is a momentary press Richard, it's all half dozen of one, 6 of the other kinda thing really, just get'r done already if you're a shit shot Rick because it helps. It sure does help, yes it does. Like drawing hair around the target see.
@@Roboticdoughbull3k You made absolutely zero sense.
Clearly explained and you make it look easy. Kudos!
glad you made this video.. I almost bought the Glock Store Dove Tail Mount & get one for my G19x. I really don't wanna have it milled.
I do see PA has the reg. $300+ 407CO on sale for $179.. Might be a good pair up
Awesome! Thank you so much. Was originally going to get the slide milled but if I don't need to, then I can put more into the sight
That's why I did it!
@@jeffofalltrades8489 so any issues after many rounds ?
Excellent video. Good photography, clear and concise verb instructions. Informative, easy to watch.
I appreciate that man! Thank you for the comment!
Wow.... Here i was trying to piece together stuff or buy a pre assembled slide with a red dot.... Thank you for the great tip and video. Helped me save quite a bit for my 19G5.
I’m really impressed that you have 10yrs of use on a G43.
As my eyes continue to fail, I’m no longer able to focus onto the front sight. Very frustrating indeed, the red dot seems to be the best solution. I will be doing this myself, thanks for the vid.
I've done this, and just wasn't satisfied; the plate and red-dot device were easy to install, but the red-dot's use was problematic for me because having the dot so much higher than where the iron sights used to be meant I had to adjust my firing grip since my natural sight alignment wasn't there. Under stress conditions I found I had to chase the dot to get on target or tilt the gun to get the front sight in the screen before dropping it enough for the dot to become visible. I fixed this by putting my own markings on the red-dot's frame and that worked well to help get the dot on target fast. In essence, I manufactured something of a co-witness to adjust for the dot's height above the slide. My next step might have been to install a tall front sight, but I decided I'd rather mill the slide. I like red-dot sights and they're great once on target, and using a plate is a quick and easy install, but you have to practice getting the dot on target without benefit of anything like a co-witness. Good vid, BTW, to show peeps this isn't a hard thing to do.
I wish Holosun or some other optics company, made a red dot that you could actually adjust up or down to lower or raised the dot. I dunno, just a thought.
If you have your slide milled will your optic be seated any lower than using the plate demonstrated in this video? I would think that the optics would be better if they were closer to the center of the barrel
@@Hodado Yes, milling the slide brings the red dot lower on the slide. Specifically, a mounting plate will rest high above the slide in the rear sight bevel, but milling a slot brings your dot down not just the depth of the plate but also any slide curvature.
I know this is an old comment, but I have something here that will fix the issues you had with a product that is above and beyond...check it out ... ua-cam.com/video/BIx2QSiD5yQ/v-deo.html
@@Hodadoyes it would be lower to the barrel if you chose to mill, this is just a more affordable option versus spending 150-200 for them to just work on your oem slide to make a mos
Thumbs up for the informative video. For anyone that wants to try a red dot I would not recommend this route or even having their current slide milled. As someone that used to mill slides I recognize the market has dramatically changes in the past 10 years and it's exploded with options. At the time of this vid there around 100 auctions for new stripped slides cut for various optics. Buy a new slide. If you don't like it, sell it used. They sell immediately even used and beat up. There is one with a broken tap stuck in it with bids right now. Just swap slides. The DPP also has some issues with tilt. The dovetail cut causes the plate to be angled slightly forward. This can max out the vertical adjustment on some optics.
...do you have a source for GEN 4 Glock 22 slides?
@@TallSlowGuy That might be the only model/gen that doesn't specifically have slide support in aftermarket. I think a Gen5 G22 slide will work on a Gen4. I think... There is at least a Gen5 G22 MOS. If that doesn't work I'd still buy a used G22 gen4 slide then send that off to be milled. Or wait on ebay for someone that has already done that and is selling theirs. Note when those sell they will sell for less than an uncut factory slide. One of the reasons I say not to have yours milled.
I agree, just ordered a cut slide with ports and ported barrel so I can just swap them.
Where do you buy slides milled ?
@@larrybruns5051 I got mine from Aim Surplus
That's beautiful. Thank you for this one.
Awesome video. It was well explained! 😊
I love it’s mounted on rear end of the slide and just as you said is excellent for concealed carry, I have just ordered it for my G 26 👍🏻😉
I would recommend a sight pusher. They are very useful and you'll get good mileage out of it.

Im so glad i found this video.
Thank you for the support!
Fax I was about to spend 700 with glock store for a new cut slide and this same optic!!
Dude,. Thanks I didn't know they made this,. Just ordered from Amazon. !
Be careful. The companies name is DPP Titanium but some of the plates are aluminum. It can be confusing when reading the product description. As an example: 'DPP Titanium mounting plate for Glock 19'. But further in the description it says it's made of Aluminum.
Thanks for the info !
Heads up! Dovedot adaptive plate is the new king of dovetail mounts. It is more expensive but has a rear sight built into the plate and the corresponding fiber optic front post. Currently they only have Rmsc footprint, but RMR is coming in early 2023.
Thanks!

Ive never had luck with plates. Getting the slide milled or getting a different slide is so much more reliable. I guess it all depends on your mission.
Outstanding review. I'm buying one now
I've tried a few red dot equipped pistols and like it very much. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for this , I was looking to do this for my Glocks .
Only vid I found on the gen 3 so far so thanks was searching for a way to attach a sight.
this is the same way i mounted my holosun 407k red dot with the dpp mounting plate.. first i wasted money trying out the different style/brands of rear sight pusher but i found that none of them work to my liking, plus it wont be able to push the dpp mounting plate on because it's not big enough to fit the dpp plate.. i decided to use a rubber mallet and it worked better than any of the sight pushers i bought plus it didnt leave any marks or damage either. i didnt sand the bottom though, i felt by doing this, it might not sit flush and even. without sanding the bottom, it still went in like butter using the rubber mallet.
how’s the plate & red dot so far?

Strike Industries scorpion universal g-surf glock reflex mount is another great option for a non milling / machining of the slide. it access many different footprints of various Red Dot sites. It even has a mount that replaces your back plate that the Red Dot adapter bolts to. It also has an optional charging handle also!

I have a Glock I wanted to install a red dot sight. Upon investigating, sending the slide out for milling is $200 just for the milling service. And it has to be milled exactly for the sight brand you want to use. I like what I saw here. I’d rather spent a few bucks on the slide mount plate and apply $150 savings to a better red dot sight. Curious if you know of any way a light can be mounted to a Glock Gen 1 or Gen 2? I've heard there are adaptors out there, but I haven't seen one.
Thanks again for this great video!
Check the Glock Store
I would have to look into that, I'm not familiar with that?
Any issues with zeroing in your holosun 507k? I did this exact process and used a bore site to laser it in but the 507k bottoms out just a half inch to a full inch below the bore site. I’m assuming this was a defunct sight but wanted your opinion on zeroing in if you had any issues
Thanks for showing how to do it .. I’m planning to put in my Glock 19 5 gen
I saw a guy who done something similar like this with a smith an wesson performance center 9mm ez, which is what I have,he had to take the slide off,the screw is under the slide holding the iron sights on,once off,the he simply added the plate an screw, then mounted red dot an boom, man I'm so glad, cause this is my first pistol an thought I'd surely have to have my slide milled,so now I'm excited to get my holosun reflex,to go with my olight baldr s laser light combo.

Get a suppressor height front sight for co-witness to the rear sight built in to the Holosun.
Excellent. Thank you very much
I did the same on a HK VP9. It is even better because the 'socket' is larger.
everyone keep in mine it’s hanging because the g43 is part of the glock slimline series and is the second smallest glock next to the g42 (the 380 version) so if u get this on a wider gun it might jus look normal. everything looks wonky on the g43 thats why i traded mine in for the 43x besides hating the revolver like capacity of the 43.
G43 and 43x are identical slides

To fully support the slide when working on it as was shown in the video, I found it better to drill a good sized hole and droft the sight into the hole. Much easier to handle.
We don't have this issue with the newest product in my most recent video! Check it out... much easier to install and WAY more reliable

How well did it maintain zero? With dovetail, isn’t there any issues with windage?
Not in my experience. If there is any tilt to the plate, just make it known and the seller will make it right!
How was it when you took it to the range? Did you aim high? Or easily to adjust your aim.

Great vid
i have a plate by a different manufacturer on my ruger american. that rear site was not going to come out with a hammer, without damage. it was too tight. i bought a quality site pusher. the advantage is, i can use this pusher on my other pistols, to do more than just install a plate. it has graduated markings, so i can see precisely how far i am moving something. no guess work if i want to install better sites, or re install the old ones. i can also loan it out, or do my buddy's guns for him. the red dot on my american works ok, but i find myself having to hold the pistol at a funny angle to see the dot. once i got used to doing it, target acquisition was quicker, and my grouping improved. i needed the red dot because i'm getting older and my eyes aren't what they used to be.
so far, i'm a couple hundred rounds through it, it's not moving.
Thank you.... My setup (same as yours) comes in a couple days and will be mounted on a Glock 30. Hoping for the best.
How is it, did you mount it on
dope! thanks
wow...getting the rear sights off, and the new one on was such a pain to hammer lol (no vise slide thing lol). the original glock sight was damaged, but good thing the new one was steal (ameriglow).
My only concern is it breaking off when using my red dot to rack a round off a table, car, curb, belt or whatever is around me to practice one handed reloads.
