Enjoyed my trip to Glock Store as usual last week ,great to see all the guys still being helpful. And although I like night sights, this new design is a winner Thanks for showing.
It's amazing to me that the industry hasn't yet agreed upon a standard for mounting. Kind of embarrassing actually, different plates everywhere, different screws. It's like amateur hour
Bought a G45 and had the SCS installed before I left the store. Took it to the range the next day and put 400 rounds through. Phenomenal. Far exceeded expectations.
@@garoristicJust came across this a year later but, the SCS MOS includes an intensity override function which locks the optic into a high brightness mode… for 30 minutes. So useful at the range or if you do find it in a situation where you need to have it high, it’s a simple button press (if you train with it, it’ll be second nature like anything else with your firearm). The only downside I see to this auto-adjust is in a dark/night situation. Your surroundings are dark so it goes to a low light. But chances are your target is in light or why else are you shooting (into darkness). With an illuminated target by street light or your weapon light it can be hard to see. However with the SCS MOS it will auto co witness with standard iron sights. So just use your irons in that situation. If you even have time to think and are not just point shooting using your own muscle memory. I think the pros out way the really only con, unless you count $400 into it, but if you have bad eye sight an optic really helps and when it comes to saving your own life. $400 isn’t a bad price to pay. Other options out there. But no battery, never running out of battery power, no need for mod plates, no need to adjust grip or hand/eye presentation, improves accuracy (but any red dot should help with that over irons). Hope this helps if you or anyone else is considering. They do make this for other models of pistols. This one is the SCS MOS for Glocks specifically so be careful when ordering online to get the right model.
@@justinkase1360well it still takes a battery in the Trey slide on the side of the optic. The solar is just a backup just incase. And yes I live on the second floor and that was my thought exactly. I know this a Glock channel, but I have the SCS on my Walther PDP and I love it! It’s an amazing little optic. The auto adjust feature is the best out there. It adjusts to lighting conditions in real time with no delay at all. Plus it senses light downrange. But! A Chinese company, Holosun makes great optics. Used their U.S. made screws and they’ve been on for 2 years with thousands of rounds and it’s still solid.

I have the G45, gen 5 , MOS and mounted the Holesun SCS about 7 months ago. Thousands of round through it. Everything Lenny's said is correct . Perfect fit. It has never not worked even after a week in the dark. The only complaint is the button that changes reticle between the dot and circle Is difficult to push. It take a little effort to change. I imagine it would only get worse with larger fingers. For target shooting i like the dot for close shots and the circle for 30 yards or more. At 30 yards the dot covers to much of the target. Using the circle at 30 yards I place the target in the middle of the circle. For self defense either would work great . I love it that the glock store is no longer in California.
Unfortunately, there are an increasing number of reports that the SCS units don't stay charged for very long. Most EDC guns don't see much daylight, because they are either under your cover garment or in a drawer/safe. After a few months (NOT 20,000 hours) it goes dark, and recharging takes FOREVER. When Holosun gets it working as advertised, I am totally getting one! But, today is not that day.

What an awesome innovation. I really wish US companies would do stuff like this, not a huge fan of supporting ccp but it's almost not debatable that holosun is one of the best optics companies right now
@@paulblair898 you'll have to buy only Aimpoint, Trijicon, and the high end Vortex pistol red dots if you want only 100% US parts and US assembly. Great video, but you didn't discuss that you can do the MOS cut now on a Non-MOS Glock. You had the slides sitting there that you guys cut, but didn't mention it at all.
Still think the solar thing might be fringing in gimmickery, but! That hasn't stopped me from seriously considering purchasing one of these. I just don't think the solar thing is viable, considering most of the time this thing will likely be kept in very dark places - gun safe, holster covered by shirt/coat, etc. I love the ability to co-witness with the iron sights, so that is a game changer. I hope Holosun will consider making a variant without the solar charging. The more components, the more things break.
This is actually awsome , it also seems like it would fix the issue of the screws not getting a full conection as there is no plate to take uo threads wow im actually really impressed
I played with one yesterday where I work and was very impressed. I have been told that my local police department will convert to the G-45/SCS combination... You can also use conventional irons thru the SCS.
I put the SCS on my Glock 47. Works great. It's easy to aim, which is great. As for the dovetail being farther back to fit the plate, that's a slight problem. I added Trijicon HD night sights to replace the factory iron sights and they hang over the slide slightly which causes them to dig into my side a bit when carrying concealed. So I've angled the clip on my holster as much as it'll allow, so it doesn't dig into my side, though it does make drawing and holstering a little awkward. But the SCS is fantastic. Highly recommended.
Just picked up my first Glock 34 mos you just completely sold me on the holosun scs when I’m ready I’ll be buying this sight from you what color locktite due you recommend
Congratulations on the move to a free state! All my Glocks are gen 3. I carry my Glock 26 and 19 everyday, so I don’t want a tall red dot and I need a stock looking slide that’s milled.
Just bought an RMR cut slide for my 26gen5. I've been searching for an optic to add to it, and the fact that this one cowitnesses that well with oem Glock sights, along with the green reticle, I'm sold. I'll have to hunt down an affordable one an swoop it up
I was looking for one of these but they only come in green, I’m not a fan of green red dots, but it’s the only one that fits directly to the most glock G5
Thanks for your review of the Holosun SCS. You answered my question on if it would co-witness with the factory sights. Furthermore it is a big improvement over Glock's poor plate system. Furthermore I agree that there are advantages to the optic sitting as low as possible on the slide, however point-ability is not one of them. To me point-ability is how naturally the gun aligns with the desired point of impact due to the gun's ergonomics.
i see where you’re coming from, but pointability is very much about where you are used to presenting the gun to get a sight picture with 25 years of muscle memory. Exactly what he pointed out at 6:40
I would agree. Any encounter less than 25 yards is likely going to be point shooting (no sights used). If you are standing still and acquiring a shot picture instead of shooting while moving you probably won't fare well against an opponent that knows what they are doing.
It also works on the M&p compact or directly. It has to be turned on and off instead of shake awake. HOLOSUN is going backwards. I’ll give you that it sits at the right sight.
Saw the promo email about this about an hour ago and ordered right away! I just bought a 17 MOS Gen 5 in June and paired it with the Holosun HE507C but got too giddy over the thought of a direct drop in optic. The doomsday prep side of my brain is a little apprehensive about it being strictly solar powered but the upside is an unobstructed iron sight. Really glad this optic uses a green dot like my current one, way easier to zero in on with my right eye astigmatism. Thanks for the awesome demo video!
I have that sight. My only concern is that the the laser on the sight is not enclosed therefore the laser is exposed to the elements. I’m curious to see how long it last over time.
Thank you for breaking this down for us, Lenny. I'm a repeat customer for Holosun products. I have a concern, though; because I live in a state with restrictive firearm laws, my G29 barely sees the light of day. I think I may have to stick to solar+battery units.
They left California because they were involved in some seriously shady businesses practices involving FFL transfers. Easier to cut bait and run than pay hundreds of thousands of fines.
Same with Smith & Wesson…they’ve been a couple miles away from where I live for decades in MA but the MA legislature is NO FRIEND to the 2A and S&W is finally giving them the finger and moving out of the state and taking thousands of jobs with them which sucks.
The one concern I would have is if you are carrying this concealed it will get very little light from both the sun and artificial indoor lighting being tucked under a shirt or jacket all day. The other concern would be that the battery or capacitor which starts at 100 hours of charge time and I'm assuming that is with a good light source for a decent period of time would be reduced over time. With a traditional red dot you have between a 20,000 and 50,000 hour battery life so if that gets reduced and you change it every year or so you still have a huge safety margin. For competition or open carry this may be a great option but I would hold off on concealed carry with this sight until it's proven reliable for it.
what size MOA dot is it? How long does it take the capacitor to charge fully and how long does it keep that charge? Once its charged, is it on constantly or only when movement activates it? All important questions, I think.
Linny, I have the Glock 45 MOS and the Holosun SCS mounted on the slide. I ran into my first issue with this setup. I wanted everyone to know that this setup with this optic, could potential cause a failure with the extractor or at least potential damage to the Extractor Depressor Plunger Assembly, (EDP), in the Glock 45 Gen 5. I found that while breaking down my Glock, the EDP would not fall out of the slide housing and only the spring and bearing came out. The rod was still inside. Yet it still seemed to have room to move, it would not fall free of the slide even after removing the ejector and firing pin safety. The problem is this, the screw on the EDP side of the slide is too long and is going down inside the channel making some contact with the rod from the EDP. Not sure if this was just an oversight by Holosun but it sure needs to be addressed. I am in the process of contacting them to see if a shorter screw is available that will still allow me to have the low mounting option on the slide so that co-witnessing the sights will still be an option. Mind you, I have put nearly 2,000 rounds through this weapon and have never had an issue until this issue was found. Hope this helps someone and if anyone else has had a similar issue, please reach out and share. I have been an FBI Firearms Instructor for years and I am a Glock Armorer , and this issue slipped past me. This is my duty weapon so I want to make sure I get this fixed ASAP. This just occurred today so, I will keep you updated as to the possible fix. I am sure it will just be a shorter screw as long as there are enough threading left on the shorter screw, to hold the optic secure. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video. New gun/Glock owner here with a gen 5 20 and looking at this Holosun SCS....video convinced me. Will purchase from you guys.
I am glad you moved to a great state. I was afraid to buy anything when you were in California. Because I felt they might try to steel my packages. Just don't ship through UPS and if you do don't mail it from your store and don't put your store name on it
I have one concern with the Solar Charging System. For solar charging, the solar panel has to be exposed to direct sunlight. Since I don't want to hang my pistol off my condo's balcony by a length o 550 cord, how do I ensure full charge (and what's the capacitor's discharge rate at idle)? One solution, I suppose, wold be to spend time shooting at the uncovered positions on my local range's 100-yard line (and I do shoot pistols at 100 yards). Unfortunately, I'm still in California and we can't have nice things. I'll have to send a slide to you.
I’m stuck. I bought a g45 2 yrs ago and was an iron sight hardo. Mainly because at the time, no red dot manufacturer made an “mos” footprint, so no matter what you got…you would need an adapter plate and suppressor height irons for backup. Fast forward to 2023…I’m looking for a glock 19/45 mos slide (oem glock) and they are unobtainium and/or $499+…when I paid $599 for the entire non mos g45!!! At this point…I’m just going to get a 19 mos so I can have a 19 frame AND a 17 frame (g45) that I can swap slides back and forth for whichever I decide. The 19 frame with non mos slide and stock height sights is super nice for conceal carry…while the g45 with mos and scs mos attached lets me keep my stock irons and have a dot….while the glock brand +2’s lets me carry 19+1 on my hip with dot. I can’t believe glock only does the “slide swap” in Europe. They charge $50, take you old slide, and send you an mos slide with your serial numbers matching. Now if I can find a threaded glock barrel for gen 5 1/2x28 rh threaded with my serial numbers I’d be psyched. I’ve found it for gen 4 and it’ll be good enough but I want that slide exchange to be available in USA. I don’t need another entire pistol and I won’t need a second, non mos slide once I get one.
I'm curious as to how robust the hood on the Holosun is. With my RMR I can rack the slide with the heel of my boot (or with the eye socket of an adversary) if I need to clear a malfunction with one hand. My slide was milled by Suarez International and they installed suppressor sights so the RMR co-witnesses plus I can still aim with a suppressor.
What do you think of this new design? will other manufacturers follow suit?
I hope so. I love mine on g17 - no plate needed.
It would be nice if Vortex followed suit. Do you have a video of Vortex optic going on Glock 40 10mm?

Eotech's new pistol red dot is USA as well but its a huge disappointment. There may be others but I'm not aware of every pistol red dot made. So $400~900 will be your price range. I'm with you all the way the last 4 optics I've bought all but 1 were 100% US parts and assembly. They were not cheap, but look for sales and deals.
@@tangomantactical I wish there was something analogous to the holosun 509t that someone else made, the closest I see is the aimpoint acro, but its a little bulky. I'm not even deadset on US made.... just not chinese state made
Not even just the CCP, Holosun is a Chinese military venture. Buying their stuff directly supports their military's optics R&D
@@EnterTheFenix didn't know that either but it makes sense. I kinda assumed anything ccp eventually funnels into their military budget too. But yeah I really wish US companies would step the game up I mean really even just a small solar panel and an accessible battery compartment and I'm game for the most part. Or if Taiwan made stuff too (the free china)
Very Happy to have GlockStore in Tennessee. Welcome.
This is a game changer for Glock MOS. Definitely thinking about either buying a MOS or save some $ & get G48 cut with optic.
Thank you for leaving California. You have my business now.
If Surefire left, I'd purchase their products.
Great video, but you didn't discuss that you can do the MOS cut now on a Non-MOS Glock. You had the slides sitting there that you guys cut, but didn't mention it at all.
I have a 507cx2 on my 17 totally love it. Can’t wait to put this on my g40! GLOCKZILLA!!
Looks like a great design. Good on the GS for cutting and mounting optics on slides in less than 10 days. That’s customer service.
I just got me a GLOCK 43 X MOS added a Holosun 507k love It worth every penny ! So much fun shooting 😊
I’d be worried about using it for concealed carry tho, I’ll be always worried it’s dead
The police in my town have it already
@@mrgrump2534why if it co witnesses already?
I’m a first time firearm owner of about a week. I’ve learned a ton from your channel! Amazing teaching tool. Thank you
What gun did you get?
Congrats and welcome to the hobby , I hope your wallet is ready
@@F30__Zay I'm a neurosurgeon. My wallet is more than ready.
I like the plate with the Holsun. The raised height works well with using a suppressor. As well as raised sights.
Good point.
I'm returning my vortex venom and buying the holosun. I feel like I cheaped out when buying my red dot and love the circle aspect this offers.
The biggest advantage is not having to worry about a battery. It’s almost like having a cheap acog for 1/5th the price
RMR battery is like 20,000 hours … I’ll think you’ll be fine
Just picked up my first Glock 34 mos you just completely sold me on the holosun scs when I’m ready I’ll be buying this sight from you what color locktite due you recommend
I just purchased a gen five nineteen mos and was wondering what to put on it but holo sun has me sold now.. good vid.
You captured the feeling of a good optic perfectly; "I can't miss with this!!!" 😂
When will the sun charge it if it’s concealed all the time? And if it charges by artificial light, is it enough to keep it well charged?
Congratulations on your “Escape from LA”! Snake Bliskin would be proud!
Congratulations on the move to a free state!
All my Glocks are gen 3. I carry my Glock 26 and 19 everyday, so I don’t want a tall red dot and I need a stock looking slide that’s milled.
Wow
Linny
Sounds like you hit the ground running full tilt in NashvilleTN
Its great to have you here in the south
Can’t wait to get mine. We are going to the SCS but might need in the market to get my personal carry machined
Just bought an RMR cut slide for my 26gen5. I've been searching for an optic to add to it, and the fact that this one cowitnesses that well with oem Glock sights, along with the green reticle, I'm sold. I'll have to hunt down an affordable one an swoop it up
Way too go, L.M., glad to hear your out of California! I was waiting to get one of these SCS sights to drop on my MOS.
Dumb move out of CA second highest State with number of guns. 💪
This paired with a gen 5 Radian Ramjet/Afterburner combo. You have the MOST innovative pistol out there in the glock field
Just ordered one for my G45 MOS....can't wait to set it up, seems like a game changer!
This man is awesome love his content for years now Im definitely planning a trip to the Glockstore
I was looking for one of these but they only come in green, I’m not a fan of green red dots, but it’s the only one that fits directly to the most glock G5
Thanks for your review of the Holosun SCS. You answered my question on if it would
co-witness with the factory sights.
You no you can just get taller irons, right
I have that sight. My only concern is that the the laser on the sight is not enclosed therefore the laser is exposed to the elements. I’m curious to see how long it last over time.
It'll last just as long as an RMR or any other open emitter sight.
Happy for the move Lenny. Glad you left sht state. Welcome to Tennessee. 👍🏽
Lenny was amazed! 🤣🤣 ima have to get it just bc Lenny's reaction. Seems really cool. Thx for my next project ✌🏼
Glad you escape ÇA but remember how proud you were when it opened up. Best of luck and keep up the solid work.
You had me at, “Closed our California store…” lol Keep up the good work Lenny!!
Thank you for breaking this down for us, Lenny. I'm a repeat customer for Holosun products. I have a concern, though; because I live in a state with restrictive firearm laws, my G29 barely sees the light of day. I think I may have to stick to solar+battery units.
Oh, and I LOVE the fact that it can co-witness with factory sights.
That's literally the exact type of red dot I'm looking for
So glad you are in Nashville .
A gun store moving out of a liberal state that doesn’t follow the constitution… I saw this coming years ago.
Hard to imagine
💯👍
Surprised it took them this long but good for them 👍
The one concern I would have is if you are carrying this concealed it will get very little light from both the sun and artificial indoor lighting being tucked under a shirt or jacket all day.
I replaced my trijicon rmr type 2 with this optic over concerns that I was losing zero when I replace the battery.
Holosun SCS. Baby, Lenny is amazed! 😁
what size MOA dot is it? How long does it take the capacitor to charge fully and how long does it keep that charge? Once its charged, is it on constantly or only when movement activates it? All important questions, I think.
Holosun is so far ahead of everyone else.
It will co witness with the factory sights as well.
Got one on my Glock 20 gen 5, I will be putting one on my Glock 19X gen 5 in a couple weeks!!!
I am glad you moved to a great state. I was afraid to buy anything when you were in California. Because I felt they might try to steel my packages. Just don't ship through UPS and if you do don't mail it from your store and don't put your store name on it
I have the SCS on my G45 MOS and I love it!
How will this work for my glock that stays in my dark nightstand for days at a time?
I started out with Glock switched to Sigg super happy still have a Glock every one could use one I guess
Lenny, You're the Man! I'm glad you escaped from CA.
Una pregunta, aun con la holosun scs si se le adapta a la vez unas miras de hierro no habria problema con la alineación?
Love Holosun. So glad you guys moved from Commiefornia . Love your products and welcome to the real world
I’m not a fan of Glock but this sold me. I’m gonna buy this exact set up with a light for my bedside gun.
Thank you Lenny, you make a believer out of me.
Looks great but will it work with a Glock 19 Gen 3?
I like to know too. I have Glock bold sights on mine and it would be a awesome co witness with SCS.
Hey Lenny, how about we get rid of those standard, junk, plastic sights??
I'm curious as to how robust the hood on the Holosun is. With my RMR I can rack the slide with the heel of my boot (or with the eye socket of an adversary) if I need to clear a malfunction with one hand. My slide was milled by Suarez International and they installed suppressor sights so the RMR co-witnesses plus I can still aim with a suppressor.
That optic looks amazing on the Glock. Like it’s literally part of the gun, an extension of it. Will the SCS fit on a PSA Dagger slide with RMR cut?
When you choose the type of cut you want, should I choose co-witness or no co-witness (if I specifically want this SCS and this type of set up)?
I'm not sure if I like the solar power only option. I think I'd prefer to have solar and a battery.
Welcome to TN! I've been watching you for a long time, another awesome video!
