I am shocked how well this mount worked on my model 45, I did use locktite on my set screws. I decided if I am gonna mount this sucker to the top of my slide, I’m positive it’s gonna affect the finish on my slide. So, my thinking was to do this once, and so far so good. I’ve only run a few boxes thru it and it’s solid as hell. I will try to leave an update but it’s a nice inexpensive way to mount a red dot to a non precut slide. Great product!
Another great video! These instructional videos takes a lot of time and effort to produce and we all appreciate your hard work sir. Thank you very much Lenny!🙏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Since the front and rear sight is on the optic mounting plate I would think that before mounting the Red Dot optic you would go to the range to make sure that it don't need a windage adjustment.
I like the idea of milling the slide out for this sight picture: Optic, rear sight, front sight. The problem with having backup sights in front of the optic, you'll pick up the rear sight before focusing on the red dot taking more time get eyes on that red dot. Also, if you do have to do one handed weapons manipulations, when you run the slide against something, you won't risk damaging/ripping off the optic. The rear sight will be running against that item. All you'll need to do is find the red dot. If the battery is dead, just look through the glass. It is a shorter distance, but with most urban combat applications for real world problems (not third world like war), it's a distance that will suffice for that form of combat. As for distance like this product... At that short distance, I think it's better to just go optics only. You train enough, you can use the frame of the gun to aim and hit accurately.
@@SamSung-uc7zd honestly I don’t even remember commenting this I was probly drunk and angry but I’m glad to say I haven’t had a drink in over 4 months and counting I even go to aa meetings I must admit doe I do sound like a douche haha damn
I had this setup on my G34. Worked good for emergency back up sights, but I didn't like the short sight radius. In the end I bought a aftermarket slide with an RMR cut.
Super cool but $130 for a little metal piece is a bit asinine. A slide cut is better, as you said and those can easily be done for $200 or so... I thought this would be like $30 maybe lol
Dagum, it's cheaper to have your slide milled w/ a cover plate. I'm not a shooter that likes a bunch of stuff stacked on my slide, If I want a Red Dot, I want it low & within the width of the slide. Many guys are milling now for $75 + a $240 Holosun 407c 2moa will do. It just looks funky to me but it's a good idea, over priced I think. I have a 19x & kinda want my slide milled but I see that gen 3 & 4 milled slides fit & work fine just have to use your gen 5 back plate. However, some many of those milled slides are $400+😱
Lenny you need to make the Night Sight RBU into a scope mount .. so it sits on top of a scope for close range , low light like an A cog .. use 3 dots not 2 dots for the Night Sights , like a normal handgun set . Or have the sights replaceable , start with low cost Glock stock sights & users can add any sight they like to it ( like Night Sights ) to keep the cost down for people that don't want night sights .
Any dovetail mount red dot mount will set way to high. You can make the sights taller like this does but your entire presentation is going to change. For the $150 this thing demands, dont ask me why, you can send your slide to ATEI and get the install done right. Better yet get a glock gen 5 and spend a few bucks more for the model that takes the optic.
I wouldn't possibly trade electronics for my night sights. Just remember how night sights changed the ability to sight in without any lighting from the target to see
not sure if i like this, seems a lot of weight slapping around on the dovetail cut, and using screws in it also pulling it up on the cut. time will tell. kool idea if it works
I installed the DoveDot with co-witnessing and a Holosun 507K X2. Then I went to the range. 5 clicks and I was zeroed. The only thing is my co-witnessing iron sights do not match my optics’s zero. How do I get them to match up?
GS has always shipped my stuff within 3 days and I'm not in CA. I even bought a firearm from them and in 4 days total they had located an FFL near me, gotten the paperwork from the FFL, shipped the firearm and I was able to pick it up. Excellent customer service at least in my experience.
My only question is, how reliable are the iron sights setup on that mount, being the sight radius appears to be awfully short (looks like 2")? I guess only as an emergency backup for close quarters, but forget precision accuracy at further distances.
I used the RBU for at least a year, mabe 2. I was on the fence about a red dot on a pistol and didn't want to sink a lot of money in something I might not like. The back up sight works good for self defense accuracy out to about 15 yards. I have decided red dots do belong on pistols and I now have a Lone Wolf 9mm with a Trijicon RMR in a slide melted Brownell's slide.
So for over $100 I can get the shortest iron sight radius I’ve ever seen on a handgun AND raise my RMR even higher? I appreciate the effort, but, no thanks....
These are a pass until they make a new model. First off is the price - the price for the night sights is $160 with shipping.. slide milling at my local gunsmith is $200. You literally might as well just get it milled. Furthermore they either need to dramatically increase the sight radius by lengthening the device, or dramatically shorten the width of the front sight post. Honestly I would do both.
site probably says they do but he doesn't want to wait for 2 weeks before they even ship it just to find out they sent the wrong one and expect you to pay return shipping and repay the original "free" shipping + 15℅ restocking fee.
Would much rather have one that just gives you a taller front sight in the original location as opposed to this version that has the rear and front sight combined on the same base.
You can put way too much torque with a handle that size. You’re better off with a standard Allen key. Using a long side at first and 1/ 16th to an 1/8th turn after that with the short side.
How much does it cost to cut off a glock19 gen5 slide just like the one on this video i want a cut out on top to visual the barrel and also cut out for a red dot optic
Hi Mr Magill i got a G43x the regular one, not the G43x MOS and i would like to know if you guys will have a plate that goes for my G43x the universal one with the tritiun on it please hit me back on it so i can buy it. Tks
You completely missed the point of the product... If you are already using a 407c, that means your slide already has the RMR footprint milled out. This product is for someone who either doesn't have an optic footprint milled or doesn't want to lose iron sights by using an optic mount that replaces the rear sight.
Is this supressor height sight? Just wondering if maybe would be better to remove the front sight off the mount and just replace the front sight with supressor height sight
Just get a new gun, or cut your slide. If have no money I guess you could do this. Buy nice or buy twice. I have 6 rmrs and love them. What a game changer. Maybe one day I’ll try some bee designs.
My concern is the screw down screws. Will they leave a mark on the top of the slide if you chose to remove the red dot sight do you have two big screw marks in the top of the slide?
I am shocked how well this mount worked on my model 45, I did use locktite on my set screws. If you have a set of calipers, you can take depth measurements from either side to get your centering more precise.
Got a nightsite version for my G-21 with a vortex viper. I like it, great option without milling the slide.
How has it held up

Look better if it sat more flush and the sides matched the slide so it doesn't look like its sticking out so far.
I'm think the same... They could have rounded the sides over.
I think it’s pretty much the same width as the optic.
Galloway Precision has made these for Ruger for a while. Just FYI

I had a dovetail mounted plate before.....they suck. Ended up snapping off from the force motion of the slide.
If you remove the 2 set screws will the dove tale come apart from main body and if so would that not be a better way to set it?

Will this setup still fit in a safariland 6360 RDS holster? Or does the sight set to high

Has anyone has success mounting one to a Canik TP9SA?
Way not use the sight site removal tool and installer tool then you don't have to worry about hitting it with a hammer and breaking the tritium

Most rmr mounted guns will require a different holster, or you can get good at cutting nylon or kydex and make your own relief for it.
