That just tells me that Tesla limits the power output intentionally...if all it takes is a software update to increase power, they could have sold it with more power. Jokes on y’all for being duped by marketing.
Eduardo Cerna Simple answer, No. The battery will still be able to output the same amount of voltage/current to the motors no matter how much charge is left in the battery. However, the more voltage/current you ask from the barriers, the quicker the car with run out of charge. Meaning the battery will discharge quicker if you’re driving really fast all the time compared to if you’re driving slow.

Yes. Improved software and firmware has increased the speed, range, and efficiency of most Teslas, in addition to operational features (free, over-the-air, while you sleep).
Yep. The last update -- which is simply a cell phone call to your car, basically, literally done at 3 am while you're sleeping, "over-the-air update" they call it -- increased both speed and range by an impressive 5%. I'm completely sold on Tesla. I'm kind of a car guy. I owned a 2005 Lotus Elise and did my own oil and transmission changes on that bastard and had to invent my own tools to do so. @NuCofish The software update is likely optimizations for the inverter and motor that happen to be computer controlled. I doubt they could just add a ton more power with just software updates, since there is physical limitations to each. Sounds to me like they just pushed it out with "good enough" optimizations and just optimized it more as they were able to do more testing. It's actually kind of cool that it did that. It's sort of like if a car manufacturer (for regular vehicles) sent an ECU update and optimized the engine to get out just a little more power and better fuel economy. There is an obvious limit to how much they can optimize, but I think the fact that they do this after you get the car is kind of neat, actually. Ludicrous mode sounds a little unlikely, since much of the limiting factor is the battery, and that's not something they can really upgrade via update. Maybe you could take in your car and upgrade the battery pack. That would probably be a possible scenario. The motors are generally capable of much more, but limited by software to prevent you from blowing up the battery. Or it will just be available on newer models, which would sort of suck for those that already purchased a Model 3 Performance.
The Charger has a higher top speed, like 50 MPH more. It’s just the awd on the Tesla gives it the advantage on the start. The Tesla has better acceleration, but by top speed the Charger easily takes it. Also the Hellcat is my dream car too
@@konata777 In terms of stock production cars, EVs will likely be the 1/4 mile champs from now on. The ultimate kings will still forever be the 10,000 horsepower dragsters that destroy themselves in one launch, but you can’t drive those on a road or around a track. For production gas cars to return to the top, they’d need drag races to become 1/2 miles long, which would change the entire definition of a drag race.

No it doesnt. In real life tesla doesnt have access to its full power. If someone challenges you on a stoplight you can make him wait 20+ minutes for your car to get its batteries ready
That will not happen cause Tesla is not that type of manufacturer which spends millions of money in advertisements.. And I don't think if movie makers will use Tesla without money, no matter how good the car is.
S M Ha! @@jamesengelsman9369 Really? Pause it at 3:38 and you'll see the left lane is a lot more wet than the right and you drove through about 50 feet of wet road that still had some standing water under the left side tires! This sort of video realy upsets some muscle car people, but it's not Tesla's fault that the standard 1/4 mile race format is heavily biased to favor instant-torque EVs and 4WD. People can argue range and top speed, but at a drag strip, it's over and done with in the first 30 feet.
@@patrykwoloch3875 Meh at a stop light yeah the Tesla M3 perf would win, at the drag strip with good drivers in each car (good launch and reaction, best case scenarios) the Tesla M3 perf hits the 1/4 mile in 11.7-11.8 sec about while any hellcat Challenger or charger hits it at about 11 flat give or take a tenth of a second. These are considering best case scenarios. Albeit 0-60 is superior on the Tesla. Oddly the AWD is only available with the V6, but I do see how it would skyrocket the cost of the car with that much power and needing to be "factory reliable".
People are not understanding just how much power the Tesla has. The horsepower and torque numbers Tesla quotes is at the wheels. With the software updates, they are currently putting down 463 whp and 507 wtq. There is no crank numbers because it does not have a traditional crankshaft. If you were to try to calculate an equivalent to crank numbers, figuring what an awd drivetrain loss, this Tesla would be putting out an equivalent of 560 hp and 609 ft/lbs of torque at the crank.

Someone who buys an SL definitely isn't going to go for a mid-sized electric family sports sedan, unless it's a second car... But believe it or not, I see many Tesla owners who originally came from muscle cars like the Challenger/Charger....
Depends on the car and the aerodynamics tho. RWD cars have the advantage of less weight than AWD. That helps them to accelerate faster once the tires have enough grip. Take the koenigsegg agera one:1 for example. It has 1360hp (v8, biTurbo) and RWD but definetely wins against any Tesla out there in any drag race! (unless it's just a 20meter drag race lol). RWD is still the superior system, mostly because it's the fastest around a track.
I owned an automatic 2015 Challenger Scat Pack for a few years, and I found that just launching in 2nd but letting the A8 do all the work was the best bet. It was stupid fast on its own.

But it doesn't take part at real sport competitions.... really sport car? let's find 1/2 mile races or 1 mile races for real men.
@@v.b.1333 The new roadster will be a "real sports car". Let's see how that does in 1/2 and 1 mile and at the track.
"Did that acceleration hurt? It looked like it! " 😆
And even if the Hellcat shifted “correctly” we know who wins.
Yeah Hellcat from a roll
@@jonjeskie5234 it lost from a roll too did u not watch lmao
@@sergsrt8 By a guy paddleshifting when he has an 8 speed automatic. Automatic wouldve won

Awesome! I did that change replacing my Dodge Hellcat for a Tesla P3D. No regrets. But I wish I had enough $$$ to keep both!
Damn this thing is fast, can't wait to see some plaid+ footage
We will need slow motion videos for that one 🤣
Dudes confidence after the second race sky rocketed
3:27 erm WTF happened to the front of the Charger? why is it splashed with blue paint?
Right its a different car
It's painters tape to protect the paint
Tesla's shit is blue, probably got splattered on the Charger on that launch
Hmmm...a Hellcat got beat by an eco friendly grocery getter. It’s a stock family sedan...beating a muscle car. LOL. WOW
Eco friendly my fucking ass
Ethan 5.0 riiiight... so explain why Fiat Chrysler is paying Tesla 2.3 billion dollars if they’re so eco friendly and Tesla is not? www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/fiat-chrysler-is-ready-to-pay-tesla-up-to-23-billion-for-emissions-credits-so-it-can-meet-european-car-emission-s-standards-for-2020-ar185387.html
@@MrEdogjohnson do you have any idea how much wasted electricity is used to refine oil into gas? Enough to power all the Teslas every day. All that coal burned just to make gas that is then burned. Lmao
Electricity is worse for the environment then gas and diesel
@@frisbe9279 hahahaha hahahaha hahaha... Ok
Loved the quote at the end. he thought he had you he didn't even have his car.
Huh, that’s a really interesting way of putting it. Hadn’t heard it phrased that way before 🤣
@5:25 the sound of the cat flying by priceless
I guess I'm old school. I like rear wheel drive muscle cars. I'll never buy a car that I have to plug into a outlet.
Broken Arrow they’re for prissy yuppies who aren’t even car enthusiasts.
Yes tell us more if your thoughts guys...
I love the Dodge demon but I also am fascinated by electric cars and how they work. Idk am I a diffrent breed of car enthusiasts? I like them both personally.
Dinosaurs mad ? Or these guys sound like those who don’t think they exist but failed to realize they are the new dinosaurs.
Than you will go to foot soon LOL
the age where an over the air update increases HP
M A and soon they will cost money probably
The funny thing is, the Charger Hellcat costs $10k more.
And gets 15mpg average.
@Bruce Leroy You obviously have never driven one then. You should drive a Model 3. I have and it drives like it's on rails. After experiencing instant torque, getting back in my GTI felt prehistoric.
It cost more because its better... duhhhh
Pj McCartney gti is shitty even if you don’t compare it to a 60k car
@Bruce Leroy I can guarantee everyone here 100% you have never driven a Model 3P.
I would take my Alfa Quafrifoglio any day over your dream Hellcat.
And I'm still moving to a Model 3P
Does that tell you anything?
If I want what I believe you think you want, I'll just rent a Caterham 7 or Ariel Atom once every few months at a track.
No need to live with the torture of absolute dog of a car daily, in that Hellcat, only to still get trounced by the Model 3P when push comes to shove!
Case in point: 99% of the UA-cam boy racer wannabees commenting on Tesla videos have NEVER driven the performance Tesla's.
That says its all really.
They are mostly ego bruised idiots lashing out blindly.
Pathetic.
watching these is making me so damn excited for mine to be delivered
