The way that Danny plays reminds me of mine ...we both using two sticks .Just technique, harmony and magic separate us.
Maybe a few borders aswell, hard and language
jimi hendronks actually a whole ocean ,but they'll perform here in France on june ,so no problem.HELLFEST IS COMING
This is the best comment I've seen on a drummer video.
Skill, you forgot skill.
same. we use the same grip
Danny Carey created Earth so he has somewhere to play drums.
Dude thats the greatest saying ive ever heard about him, and oh so true
Comment has 46&2 likes.
I actually pictured his godly like hands forming earth lol
Lol
We're not worthy either
Little known fact: Danny also controls the stage lights, all the bandmates' input/output and effects on the sound board and also the cameras filming the shows as he plays.
Still can't work a microwave.
.....how
very amusing comment
@@lr4600 Its a joke, I just wanted to say... 👁👄👁
Lol
He killed it on the Fear Inoculum album too. The guy is a straight up monster.
One of the best was at the end of fear inoculum. Like the last 2 minutes of his little solo
People don't like FI, give them time buddy, just give them time.
His drumming is the best thing about the new album
@@JB-423 bro literally grew 6 more arms for the last 2mins of Fear Incolum
Pneuma. That’s all I have to say. Fkn PNEUMA.
Okay I have to say something else:
Pneuma is the song I play when I’m on top (or playing by myself) and I want to have the most explosive orgasm I can create for myself.
Pneuma. Fkn PNEUMA.
Much easier to play the drums when you have that extra eye

“If only you could perceive time as I do”
Danny Carey and Dr. Manhattan
And Thomas Haake
🤯
Dr Manhattan wishes he could perceive time the way Danny Carey does
Great comment
Don't you mean Danny Carey to Dr. Manhattan?
He just has a way of finding a beat and a rhythm where you don’t even understand how there is one
He uses the fibonacci theory
He uses the fiber-one granola theory
He uses the rabbit-wear-glasses theory
It's the fettuccine sequence
He beats those drums like they owe him money..
ahh, max weinbergs wise words teaching jay weinberg the drums
Preach!!!
Im prety sure that eloy casagrande has lend sooooooooooo much more money to his drums than danny...
They do xD 70 grand or more xD
He said he models it after the way the great Neil Peart played his drums and mics them the same way. Wants to let them breath and have a big sound too
Blows my mind how amazing he is with polyrhythms. It's like his brain works on a whole new level.
I think it's Jambi. Where Adam is playing in one time, Justin, another time. And Danny is somehow playing them both. Forgot specifics. Something like his kicks were in time with the bass, his arms in time with guitar and it was all syncopated. Wish I had an exact time stamp for you. Or the source of where I read it/heard it.
danny utilizes sacred geometry in his playing and kit configuration... basically occult magik... all that shit you seen in the cover of 10,000 days artwork, is another dimensional perspective of life.. the quantum fields... thats all alex grey artwork.. you can visit that place he drew from, with a couple fat tokes of dmt.... its the energy field that manifests all matter in our form dimension... danny utilizes this, actually, i believe all the members utilize this collectively as a band... i would say meshuggah does as well.. its real clear messugah are gnostics..esoterism. religion isnt dumb silly nonsense... its the secrets of the light dimension wrote out in paraboles and riddles.... the magik is in between the lines of ancient texts.... anyways......
It's really not that hard.
@@bdc211 how am I a jerk for just simply saying that it's really not that hard.
@@bdc211 and slam dunk a basketball has literally nothing to do with this video. I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. And I socialize plenty thank you very much. It's called a drummer being critical over another drummer. So I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to get at?
Danny has his own way of looking bored out of his mind while simultaneously being so acutely focused on what he's doing and my brain just can't comprehend it
Funny you say that, because I say the same about adam Jones. And shit even Maynard hides in the back nowadays
It is essentially a meditative state...laser focus but so in the zone you look bored...been there a few times while playing bass live. Great feeling when you get there. Everyone has a thing where thy can get there. Gaming, music, woodworking, whatever.
he's solving differential equations in his mind in those moments
I do the same thing when I play. When you're behind the kit the primary concern is sounding good. Your focus tends to stay on the parts of your body involved in that, so unless you're planning to hit something with your face, it's not really something you think about.
@@williamparrish5002 True but have headbutted a crash cymbal before. Bled a bit bit carried on the gig. Crowd loved it.

I think Pneumas the only one lol.
The Glass House 1996 video is live and good quality check it out.

Yeah Maynard messes up in almost every video. However, the one time I saw them live they performed flawlessly.
You have to update this video.... Fear Inoculum has lots of new amazing drum moments!
He played drums on FI like he is tired of seeing kids do drum covers of his songs on UA-cam.
jrsnowden25 johnkew though man, guy honestly does amazing covers. especially rosetta stoned
@@lbboardingb3356 Just discovered johnkew recently. Hes absolutely amazing
Agreed. The entire album .
I think Fear Inoculum should have been called ‘The Danny Carey Show’!
Hey danny what time signature is that in?
Danny: yes
The Right one!!!
46 and 2
Which limb are you referring to? High hats 4/4 right hand is 7/8 left is 5/8 and kick is following the base line.
Danny : all of them
😄🤣😂
Tool is the music one listens to in the afterlife while downloading complete understanding of the universe.
Does this make people who listen to TOOL before their death some kind of godly beings ?
Poster boy of tool posts right here
He is the lead instrument in Tool
1:40 Adam: still as can be except fingers. Danny: still as can be except arms and feet. Justin: "let me move my hips in a back and forth motion while leaning my head back"
Fr lol, when I saw them live Adam was motionless and Maynard was hiding In the back most of the time but Justin was having the time of his life
That's hilarious
Not sure if this is true, but I've heard that Justin has synthesia, a condition where you "see" sound as patterns of color. Imagine hearing that music and your brain interpereting the sound as visual information. It has to be awesome and terrifying. If that's true, then I think his only options are to either have a complete mental break or just vibe with the music
Ticks & Leeches opening is pure majesty.
Surprising easily.
Yeah my buddy rips it hard. They do a whole tool set at the bar
@@andym28 The dynamics are not easy at all what are you on about?
Got my tickets for the May 10th show in Hampton, Virginia. 4th time seeing them, and they never disappoint
The Grudge ending...
Danny Carey played with a couple local musicians at a mutual friends wedding in my hometown. He didn't have a drumkit in my area and I loaned mine to him. He was a very cool guy and played a whole set of popular rock cover songs with my brother and other local musicians. After he signed a drumstick and thanked me for letting him use my kit. He's as cool of a guy in person as he is in UA-cam videos.
Just a good ol boy from small town kansas..I grew up bout 10 min across the state line from Paola
I'll take "things that never happened" for 100, Alex
lmfao

Lucky you ! I Went two times in Poland for the concert… mindblowing .
Camera:* Pans over to Justin *
Justin: * Groovin *
His posture is impeccable, his spine is almost always straight up and down, with a few exceptions here and there for that extra reach. Outstanding.
Yet did i mention he was born 61! 😳😳
you missed the part when he played drums with his daughter high school music thesis/performance.
He's a true musician
If it's the same one I'm thinking of, that wasn't his daughter. He just happened to be there when the kids were playing and asked if he could join in.
You're right tho, it should be included because it's wholesome and it's awesome.
I've watched that triad vid hundreds of times. Its absolutely an inspired performance. At one point every one of his arms and legs are playing a different time signature. The guy is in my opinion the best drummer there ever was. Flat out.
That Triad video, even though the video quality is shit, was the most tasteful I've heard Danny Carey.
1000% agreed. Neil has nothing on him.
@@kdrguru that’s a BOLD statement.
@@CharlesHepburn2 it’s not
@@CharlesHepburn2 Carey could play anything peart could, but not the other way around.
I'm not a general fan nor listener of rock music. But, I know this man by name and respect him as the best in his respective business. His skills are simply amazing
00:47 a wild Maynard appears
...who stands nipple high to danny off stage
Having a bad or negative comment about this guy is a major crime. This guy is awesome.🤘
Man I've seen Tool several times, but one of the best shows was a show I didn't know I was going to until 30 minutes before it started. It was the 10000 Days show in Dallas. Our tickets were in the nosebleeds, but Ive always believed that the seat number on the ticket was merely a suggestion.
But we got to our seats and I was looking at the stage, and it was a strange set up with really low teasers lining the back of the stage. Seems like they were only 4 feet tall. Then I noticed the seats behind the stage that they had closed off. I was like holy shit. I turned to my friend and said, "The next time you see me, I'll be right friggen there".
And I was right. I had a whole section of seats all to myself and nobody effed with me. I sat right behind Danny about 5 feet up and watched the whole damn show. It was great.
The crew's a bunch of Trekkies. I could see a lot of their screensavers backstage and every damn one of them had Spock or Kirk on the monitor.
But sitting right behind that badass drummer was the best seat in the friggen house.
Watching Danny Carey playing drums is like watching a wizzard stiring his magic potions in 20 cauldrons at the same time. It is supernatural how he si playing drums. I love it and will never get tired of listen and watching.
The forty six and 2 one blows my fucking mind every time. It’s already nuts on the album and this man has the AUDACITY to add extra fills on top of his already insane routine
I thought the same thing!!! I have watched him on many videos but the forty six and 2, OMG!!! Danny just pulls the football away from every drummer on the planet that would attempt that.
In my opinion, he's certainly the best drummer, incorporating technicality with creativity like no other!
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer Yours and mine are just... opinions, and are, ergo, subjective. I see no point in arguing.
And Carter Beauford puts them all in their place.
WhoDarestheMAN gamer You’re just wrong my guy and you come across as kinda stupid just sayin
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer so, if you don't see yours as an opinion, fuck you, YOU are wrong. Carey's creativity and technique is the best in the world. Trust a drummer
Gergo Borlai is actually one of the best drummers.
No rosetta stoned Swiss triplet breakdown? Probably the most intricate drum part of all time
Yeah a lot of what they chose seemed pretty random, especially the non tool ones
Dude. Fuck the world and the dick it rode in on...this comment needs a trillion likes!!!!!!! The fact that hr plays the french triplet in a rock song ALONE should make him yhe greatest...then, as if i wadnt moist enough, HE BREAKS IT DOWN EVEN FURTHER!!! @@damelyngdoh2370 Lars did the best possible scenario for Metallica. Some drummers over play and think they are better but sometimes remember there is a thing called the silent note which affects more than you think. I actually do have a hard time believing that there is, has been, or ever will be: someone as good at drums as he is.... There are some other great drummers out there, sure, but... Danny Carey just takes it to another level, and then some, every time. The first time anyone see's Danny Carey live, it is literally a profound life changing experience... and that isn't even slightly an exaggeration.
Neil Peart.
@@memebot6490 yep, he's up there. Second on my list below Carey still tho
Ever heard of the Dunning Kruger effect? You're close to the x=0 part on this one, I'm afraid....
@@AlexHerlan Here, lemme give you a taste of what real mastery of the instrument looks like. Check out: Virgil Donati, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Matt Garstka.
Matt McDonough of Mudvayne. L.D 50 is insane.
One great thing Danny Carey and Keith Moon have in common is when you listen to the drums alone you can still tell which song it is and what part of the song it is.
"still be a human" I just that love that line and it is for danny carey
His creativity is just out of this world. How he comes up with all those poly rhythms is a million dollar question. He looks chilled when he's playing, when a ton of drummers out there still figuring out how to play like him.
I hope with every ounce of my being, they do more albums. Tool adds soo much enjoyment to my life. I hope they realize how many people are with me on this.
Oh man, that one time in San Diego 2002 when Thomas Haake joined the stage for Triad...! Killer.
That sounds so fucking amazing
@Sugar Shane ua-cam.com/video/qR6cWXSfR1I/v-deo.html
They didn't do that the whole tour? I watched a Halloween concert from that year. I should have been there but fucking aye I was only 12 and my fuckin mom was like NO! Anyway I feel like he came out during that show too. The whole set is on UA-cam. 10/31/02 long island NY.
Yeah just check he was in on the jam that show too. As well as another member, I won't attempt to spell his name it sounded super vikingish.
I think they make a habit of bringing a guest drummer in for triad if they can. When playing in New Zealand they brought out the drummer from Jakob (NZ post-rock band) who were supporting. Seeing Haake and Carey share the stage, though. Ooh, tingles.
The absolute best at this genre. Poly and power= Danny Carey
Well said!
What genre? One of a kind :)
GregorizZ genre: tool.
The best of all time no doubt
ANY Tool song could EASILY be Danny's greatest moments!! He is a drumming God!!
Oh My God....thank you for actually playing the clips instead of talking over it and not showing the clip at all. Thank you for jumping straight into the compilation instead of a giving a long 5 min introduction of who we are bout to see as if we don’t know already. Thank you 🙏
The very definition of power and precision. If you watch him closely you can see Danny utilizes an economy of movement while playing incredibly complex parts, it is true sorcery.
Love seeing him in a fishbone shirt! Some of my favorite concert moments was the Lollapalooza in 93 when I saw both Tool and Fishbone along with many other great bands.
Danny Carey IS the best drummer/percussionist on Earth. He was my inspiration since I was a pre-teen to get into the drums, and every time I listen his work....instant motivation. What a fuggin' legend.
Danny has to be one of my favourite drummers! It’s just the prog grooves that he does and which hi hat and which Tom to hit is what makes him amazing! His tuning of the drums is just sick in itself
He reminds me of John Bonham. He is an amazing drummer, which his music will remain timeless.
He is the John Bonham of the 90's and beyond
I think he also said that Bonham inspired his drumming
I've always thought that. He is like a prog John Bonham, plays weird stuff with a strength that's similar to him. Two GOATs.

Danny Carey is one of my favorite drummers of all time and I've been around since the 70s.
Danny is a beautiful soul. He's so kind and humble. Danny will Jam with anyone. I saw a video of him drumming with young kids at a talent show. He was smiling ear to ear. I love watching Danny light up. He's pure goodness.
I once heard you're an amazing drummer when you can play whatever is in your head. But, Danny Carey goes further by showing off what is in his head. What a gift.
He’s been the best drummer in the world since the late 80’s
Tool and us as well are blessed to see this man at work... the memory of his to remember all of that is amazing
Let's now add Danny aged 61 smashing "invincible" live on the latest tour just WOW
Wait, only 10? It was divine intervention that Maynard and Danny got together. Both are the best at what they do A lot of bands change out drummers and to the average fan it goes unnoticed, but there are a few bands out there that could never replace a drummer without it just killing the band and Danny Carey is definitely one of them.
G. Baker, Danny, and Neal are just really crazy drummers!
And Mario
One of my favorite parts of the tool show is when I throw my hands in the air to the heavens after the beast mode drum solo on 46 & 2. SEE MY SHADOW CHANGING. mix the drum solo with my personal journey and its feeling I cant really describe in words
Saw him again recently on this tour. Still *AMAZING*
Rolling Stone magazine, never fans of metal, couldn’t help but call Ticks & Leeches the greatest drum performance.
Technicaly the're probably as good or better drummers but what makes Danny stand out is his composing skills. Playing around and with drumpads, polyrhythm, speed changes, time signature changes, volume changes, etc. thus creating atmosphere and emotions. And all of this in a mesmerizing interplay with the rest of the band. And that is what making music is all about creating a feeling and emotions......
His rhythm sense is phenomenal and he's so humble at same time
Danney Carey is one of those guys that can adapt to any situation that's put in front of him. An absolute phenom in the drumming world. Plus, he plays Pai
IsTe cymbals. That makes him just that much better!

Always will be my favourite drummer, he has such a mastery over polyrhythms it's crazy
And this is exactly why he gets to pull up behind the staples center in LA in his lambo and walk right in to watch the game at center court... great video 🥁💀💀🤘🏼
Now they're gonna have to make a new list. That fill in Invincible (you know which one I'm talking about), that breakdown in 7empest, the entirety of Chocolate Chip Trip, which is basically Tool's version of Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin... so many great moments!
No other drummer like this fella on earth!!! Truly unique.

This guy joined tool because he felt sorry for them because he felt they weren't good enough to jam with. Little did he know that becoming apart of these guys was an awesome decision. Rock on dude.

I went to the show Jan 22nd. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMEONE DRUM LIKE HE DID THAT DAY!!! ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL !!!!!
All the ones he's in his Kansas jersey, I was at! What a blessing!
A drum battle between him and Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska would be legendary. It would be like 2 drum gods battling... The world would probably end.
They're use two completely different drum styles tho
Mathieu Pharand They May be different in terms of style, but their technical drumming is similar, even though the both of them are so different. That’s why I think they’d be a perfect fit for a battle

Fun fact: There are no lights in the arenas Tool play in, that's just Danny's grin from the enjoyment he gets playing drums.
One of the reasons I love Tool is because of Danny's amazing drumming
Danny Carey is always the best drummer on earth
When Danny sits down to play drums he is the best drummer on Earth.
I've always dug the sound of roto toms, and Danny is, as far as I know really the only modern drummer who uses them a lot
