Guests That Drove Me Nuts - Confessions of a Theme Park Worker

- There's always that select group of people that drove the workers nuts at theme parks. Most guests were wonderful! But people like this would drive me insane sometimes...
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

I always relate to these because it is so similar to retail, especially people who think they know how to do the job I've been doing for 30+ years. Also I've been on the jungle cruise when some smarties would shout out the punchlines to the skippers jokes. Everyone knows these jokes but part of the fun is going along with the skipper and listening to how they are going to present the back side of water. You are supposed to be having fun, not showing everyone how big a jerk you can be

😆 The castle at Silver Dollar City line killed me. These are probably the same ones that would try to call the police when they thought the train robbery was real.
😂 that’s my absolute favorite question to this day “when did they move the cave?” Especially now as an employee of a certain theme park with a certain underground natural feature and working at that natural feature. Never gets old
Thanks for the Muppet Moment @10:38
As a many times Disney guest I've seen so much of what you describe. There's nothing worse than the very loud person in line that starts spouting off information that you know is wrong and acting like they know it all. It's gotten harder and harder over the years to truly enjoy the magic because people have just gotten so rude and entitled. They act like they paid more than everyone else in the park and deserve more. They act like they are more important than anyone else. People are just not what they used to be, and I think it's a crime the way kids behave these days. They are so rude to adults because they have not been taught respect. Maybe because of my age I have no tolerance for these entitled little brats. I love well-behaved children and adults, but they are few and far between these days.
Lol. You’re funny, George. 🤣🤣🤣
Love your Cheshire Cat shirt 😱👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh my! Not much difference from hotel guests. I'll have to put a list together and send it to you some day! Ha ha.
I have to say the only thing that I'm really guilty of back in the day when visiting Disney was asking for the bathroom when it was right behind me. But that was a real long time ago when they didn't have smartphones or apps. The best you got was a map that you may or may not have gotten from when you got your ticket to walk in the front gate.
I saw that Disney is planning on bringing the parades back soon but I saw they listed the start time for one of them at 3:30 p.m. So which question do you think will happen more when they return? a) When is the 3 o'clock parade? b) When is the 3:30 parade?
Wow! My heart goes out to anyone who works with the general public. It must take great patience and ingenuity on keeping things under control, for the sake of the rest of the guest who are just trying to enjoy their day. 😊🦋🙏
The people who stop immediately at the exit of an attraction! And pull out maps to figure out where going next. I have seen so many do that at American adventure. Argh!
I would have said "if you think you know more than I do, applications are up front. Fill one out"
We were a family that went to a park that ended up not being open just last year. We went to a park out of state and misread the website, and it turned out to open the day we left, not got there. Fortunately we found out at our hotel, and not at the box-office. Ended up just exploring the area, and had an awesome time, and just so happened to run into some old family friends who we spent the weekend with. It was one of our favorite memories, even if we didn't make it to the park.
"You, sir, are taking the pictures all wrong. Here, let me show you..." 🙃 Merry Christmas to you and yours, George.
As always, I love the video. And when I had my live western stunt show, one of the actors had a habit of mouthing my lines as I was speaking them. It took me a while to break him of that habit. May God bless you and yours.
My daughter is back n Photopass. Oh boy it’s a mess!!!!! Most her friends got called back have already quit. So many guests don’t even talk to her like she’s a person. She said it’s gotten worse since before Covid.
oh no. I'm so sorry. Is it the guests? the managers? Changes, or what?
@@SirWillow yeah she said all the above. They are horribly understaffed. Used to be over 300 for MK now they have only 80. Managers are from entertainment so don’t know photography and she heard they are going with the boxes at ALL inside meet n greets. So they won’t rotate through AC areas. She was left for many hours in the heat. No water break or anyone check on her. As for guests. They just seem entitled beyond normal. They walk up and ask for a photo. No hello, or really act like they are speaking to someone. She had to leave her spot to use the bathroom and was badgered about why and when would she return. She said it feels like guests are just demanding and few are pleasant anymore.
i have been working in the Resturants close to 10 years. And the same dumb questions would keep coming up.
My Mom has Worked in the Kindergarden for the past 30-35 years and the same kind of careless and sensless people would drop kids off with out proper clothing or shoes. the worst are the kind that drug up their kids that are really feeling ill and after the drugs wear off they get high fevers and even pass out and when you call them and say that you need to come pick up your kid or we called the ambulance they would cuss you out and threaten you.
thats why i got the silver dollar city app so i know everything
Nothing is worse than the people that say "I pay your salary", and want you to do things that they know are way out of your hands for them. Then when you say sorry I don't have access to whatever it is, they try to go to other people, knowing what they're asking for is ridiculous, until they get their way by telling a different story each time. For example, demanding that someone who is working at Space Mountain get them a sold out Be Our Guest dinner reservation because they don't waste time on reservations. Then they find a boss to tell them that you refused to help, or are rude. What really makes me mad is when these obnoxious, entitled people get what they want from the supervisor, even though they are the ones that are in the wrong.
Whenever I knew the script as good as the actors (Like in Cats) I like to say the words silent as they say it. I dont know if they notice but its a great way to follow on the show sometimes.
Oh, and what do you do when youre sitting in the lot next to Star Wars launchbay trying to find it on the map with no luck. I still dont know were that place is. Johan.
At the themepark I work at we have this thing known as a auxiliary band which is a wrist band that people without visible diabilitys but mental such as autisim can get to skip lines well this one family on a very busy day in July came with the band and rode the ride I was working (similar to like dumbo) and rode it 13 times in one day and becuase our policy was they can stay on for 2 cycles then they have to go to anouther attraction they would keep coming back over all sitting in separate ride veichales so I was down 4 ride vehicles out of the 12 there are for 90% of my shift 🤦😡
So this didn't happen at a park but when I used to work for Walgreens, I would get asked stupid things all the time like what isle is something on when there is a sign that clearly says. Well this one a time a lady came in looking at Polaroid film. She handed me a box and asked if it was a 2 pack. Um no, it just says 2 pack in big letters on the front for the heck of it. I wanted to be a smart you know what but I had to keep my job and just told her yes and should her where it said 2 pack
I was keeping my eye out for you while I was at Silver Dollar City on Sunday. I think you were still in Israel though. I did buy a season pass!
Yep, we'll be here in Israel until around Dec 30. I also tend to avoid Saturdays and Sundays at the park because of crowds and church. :-)
@@SirWillow We went Sunday night, thinking it'd be less busy than Friday and Saturday. It was still full!
yep. That's why during Christmas I go on Thursdays generally, and skip the other nights.
Worked in retail and got to wdw. Never saw that 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Yeah sometimes there have been some customers where I’ve worked I’ve wanted to “strangle” 😬😱🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was at WDW last week and saw a family where the daughter was in full hufflepuff gear. All I could think was that I felt bad for whichever CM had to answer THAT question.
Ohh, yeah, her parents must've realized what happened, whoops. Already paid for Disney, do Wizarding World next year.
As a guest in WDW, we found that the South American tour groups were the worst. These young adults hunted in packs and cut in line every chance they had. They seem to have the attitude that they were VIP and would be very pushy trying to get ahead. It really distracted from the magic to be stuck in their presence.
Sadly, I'm one of those annoying people who cannot help themselves in joining in with the stretching room spiel in haunted mansion. Gotten a number of elbows to the ribcage from my dear wife for that one.
You always see the best and worst in people at an amusement park
I just noticed this video is using an older "Confessions" intro.
hehe, I wondered how long until someone would notice. It was an accident- dragged the wrong file in, but thought I'd leave it in as an Easter Egg. :-)
When I used to work at Pergment home centers in the paint department this guy comes in with a gallon of paint and says he needs a nother gallon of the Same color I’m looking at the can and I ask him did you buy it in pergment he says yes I ask him are you sure he swares he got it in pergment so I asked him how come it says on the can Sears paint department ! I said no problem I can color match it and make you a gallon
"The Park is closed. The moose out front should've told you."
EDIT: 10 seconds after I made this comment you said this! Ha!
The only guests who bother me are the line cutters.
I had a guest recently ask me, during the Christmas show, if they were still going to get robbed on the train. 😐 like, seriously?
yep, would get that on a regular basis.
@@SirWillow during Christmas? No kidding! That’s only been a one time thing for me but still.
oh yeah, during Christmas. And we'd even have some people get upset over it. They were the rare ones, thankfully, but it did happen.
There are 2 types of guests I find quite annoying as a guest myself.
1. The my child doesn't need park rules. Those are the ones who let their children run around wild, put children in behind fences where they clearly should not go. Not theme-park related but I even saw people put children behind the fence at Grand Canyon for that photo. I mean this is just an accident waiting to happen.
2. The Get A Room people. Like I get that people can feel in love with each other. But don't start touching each other and stuff like you would do in a private setting when your in public. Like I remember me and my family were at Disney enjoying our meal. and next to us sat a "get a room" couple. Yeah needles to say we were quite annoying by it when we tried to eat in a relax spot our Pizza that we had that next to us.
Moose out front shoulda told ya
Worked retail for 15 to 20 years selling computers and yea common sense is neither common or makes sense to many
Yeah, customers that think they know better than the person that actually has experience; those customers are frustrating!
Those backseat speakers (guests saying your lines before you do) sound obnoxious!
Not necessarily the guest, but the Uber drivers at the TTC are insane with the cast members the second worst drivers at the park
I may or may not have taken some of Theme Parks and More's advice when he said if you notice something is wrong it's good to let a cast member know and applied that to my home park when the dive coaster didn't hold and it sounded like the train was the problem. I am an enthusiast and I tried to nicely tell the op that something wasn't quite right. I realize that was cringy and turd-like. To that op I apologize you had enough to do given the busyness.
Although it was quite the experience to see that very train transfered off a couple of hours later while I was in the waterpark.
If you sense something wrong or out of the ordinary on a ride, absolutely tell the ops! That's something they need to know. It was the ones who tried to tell them how to do their job I. Normal procedures that were annoying.
@@SirWillow ok I was wondering what the difference was. Thanks.
Queue Jumpers annoy me the most.
Is this a re-upload? It used one of the old intros.
No, all fresh and new. Just accidentally slipped in the old intro instead of the new one. :-)
