A very funny thing I saw once was a scammer communicating through emails and the "victim" simply said ok to every message he sent and it slowly drove the scammer insane and he stopped replying. It could maybe work for you who knows
Hmm, when a girl from my student home was harassed by a panting pervert, I made sure to silently take over the phone. After that I played along, panting back and reducing the volume of my voice, so he would get close to the receiver . I had a horn of my own though and I played as loud as I could on my trumpet. He never called again...
I used to do that to scammers. A few years ago I was regularly called by them and I'd string them along for as long as possible, because as long as they were on the phone to me they weren't preying on anyone vulnerable. When they eventually asked me to connect to the internet I'd blast the 56k dial up sound down the phone at them.
The part where you say “Know that you are loved and you matter”, is so beautifully said, even your tone of voice becomes so soothing. Thanks it is appreciated 🤗
@Mawablem as someone who used windows 95 this is fact. My computer was powered by a hamster wheel of rock. The raptor was not included with the wheel though me and the cave squad had to capture it. Good times.
because these scammers are hired and trained on how to do their script. like they don't know much computer, just basic scamming script from their boss.
Funny thing is, I can imagine a situation where their mark could legitimately be running Windows 95 in a VM: Grandma was never very rich _or_ tech savvy, so she held onto her old Win95 PC until it died 20+ years later. She got a new PC after, but couldn't get used to how different Windows 10 was. So a tech-savvy relative copied/replicated her old 95 install in a virtual machine, and set up Win10 to automatically load it fullscreen as soon as possible after startup.
@@AaronOfMpls yeah I could genuinely see someone doing that for a friend or relative. I have to wonder if it'd be easier to learn an updated OS than it would be to daily drive a VM though.
@user-arimdaar that sorta stuff would get past me. I tried to set up multiple virtual machines on a network and figuring out the iP addressing aspect was so hard
When I had a call from an Indian Windows Tech services I said, "Thanks heavens you've phoned, I'm getting condensation between the panes of glass in my kitchen windows so I would like someone to come and have a look at them" This provoked a long discussion as to what service they operated. At least while we were doing that, they weren't scamming someone else
"The Rule: No racism, toxic behavior or comments (towards scammers or one another), racial stereotyping nor targeting. The Why: Not all scammers are from one particular country nor of a certain ethnicity; likewise, not all people from a particular country or of a certain ethnicity are scammers. I think this rule makes zero fucking sense. Just so were clear. Since it may as well be re worded to "thou shalt not mention India". Apparently its racist to use a country's name.
My mom actually had a Windows 95 pc that she still used just for bookkeeping until around 2019 when it finally went kaput. When I was like 5-7, I played the original Oregon Trail, Monkey Island, Loom, Mario Paint, and a few other games on it. Since she kept it around, I'd still boot those games up from time to time. I got pretty good at Oregon Trail. Good times.

"About 22 years old" At first I thought that was too old, then I figured it was about right, then I realised it's 2021 and a new computer would have used Win98. I might be the one who's old.
Often enough the scammers don't really know that much about computers, they're just following scripts and basic training that their employer has provided.
They won't be able to solve simple software issues, most of them don't have any computer education. They previously where part of customer care service and once the automation took there jobs away, the so called call centres turned into scam company and started training there employees into this .

You are based. Based means “based on yourself” meaning that you are exceptionally cool for screwing with scammers like that. 👍
The dial-up connecting to the Internet sound effect would have been the icing on the cake.

Funny thing is, I can imagine a situation where their mark could legitimately be running Windows 95 in a VM:
Grandma was never very rich _or_ tech savvy, so she held onto her old Win95 PC until it died 20+ years later. She got a new PC after, but couldn't get used to how different Windows 10 was. So a tech-savvy relative copied/replicated her old 95 install in a virtual machine, and set up Win10 to automatically load it fullscreen as soon as possible after startup.

I think this rule makes zero fucking sense. Just so were clear. Since it may as well be re worded to "thou shalt not mention India". Apparently its racist to use a country's name.
It's most likely because of Twitch TOS to avoid "racist" comments getting flagged.
