- In this video I roam around the official Shadow of Israphel map, it was leaked in 2012 or so on planetminecraft and I've been holding onto it since.
There's a mountain of unexplored world we never got to see in the series, so let's see what we can find!

The feeling of melancholy you describe is very relatable, having wandered the map myself. It's quite Tolkienian, actually. Thanks for making this.
The spider dungeon was used in the charity livestream special, but appeared in the distance a couple of times. The 'witch's hut' is the external shot set for Old Peculiar's childhood home.

Man I remember checking for weeks and months to see if the next episode came out. I loved SoI.
For Simon and Lweis it was just a silly stupid thing they did, one of the many videos they produced. And because they made it, they don't realize the impression it left on so many others. This was the point when kids stopped watching tv and started watching UA-cam. What He-man, transformers and Thundercats etc is for some, Shadow of Israphel is for those people.
6:42 Surviving the first night started on one of the late alpha builds. A lot of SOI started on beta but changed version a few times.
As for what version SOI ended on I have no idea.
One of their biggest issues was Minecraft updates and migrating worlds and managing servers which back then was infinitely harder than it is today.
Based on the squidmilk section I would assume it most likely ended around beta 1.2 as iirc that was the update that added the bug that allowed you to milk squids.
Episode 42 of SoI released in July 2012. That means it probably ended on release version 1.2 (possibly 1.2.5)
Man, I miss this series so much. There was something so cool about the roleplaying and story they were making when I was a kid lowkey, I know some members have brought up resuming the series, but it's literally just small talk among them I'm pretty sure. I just wish someone would give that extra push to them to try and complete the story in an 8 episode series like Amazon or something lol. Really cool how you could grab the world tho!
Do you reckon that the continuation will come out eventually?
this map and yogscast playthrough is what hooked me on minecraft, 13 years later I still play it activelly its my life
Thank you. As a fellow lover of Israphel I understand this pain. Sometimes I use israphel as my skin and bully kids. It's how I let him live on.
Sorry for rambling on watching this video. Just makes me very nostalgic. You’re awesome.
Thank you for making this video and you're right it would be good Idea for anther people to come in and finish off the series because the world isn't gone
I wouldn't mind seeing a video game that takes place in the story as you play as the heros, maybe one day.
if you want a slower paced survival sandbox experience reminiscent of classic minecraft, i highly recommend Vintage Story. It also has cool story content and deep lore.
This is fr the actual world they used? There's so many things unused I had no idea about??
I could be wrong but I believe it was from the museum server they had, where they took the chunks from the original world and put them into a new world
Because Louis and Simon never went to go look for all of them. I’m also looking for all the hidden nether portal israphel was in
I’m working on safely porting the world from Minecraft beta 1.8 to modern Minecraft and from what I understand the world file is a beta 1.8
I thought about trying to continue the series of shadow of israphel but I could never find enough people to do it with me and the amount of money that would take to do such a project
Oh god i read the titel as Israel
😂 doing the most 😂
Is this actually the original map? And if so, how did you get it?
If I could ask for tips on converting this world to modern Minecraft, how did you convert it without the world corrupting itself with random broken chunks? I’ve been going one update at a time.
Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
I'm not a master of porting worlds from old builds of minecraft to another but when I played minecraft regularly back in version 1.0 or so I remember updates to world generations always created chunk errors when you entered new chunks so there's not much avoiding it unfortunately to my knowledge.
You could try loading the world in the minecraft version it was last loaded in, generate chunks around the map and then port it to a newer version then?
Otherwise if you just port it directly then what already exists should theoretically be fine.

hmm ,often texture packs these days comes as part of a mod if any of the basic stuff is changed due to it ?
Which version of Minecraft?
yee , modern minecraft suffers from being at the hands of mega corp mentality , if for no other reason for the 'game speed up' turning from sandbox into themepark with arbitrary janitor agenda to the mechanic design , and the more vile aspect how microsoft tryess choke the java version to death and drm it all to hel and back :/ i mean ffs , why do i need to download files EVERYTIME i launch it ? should only need update files if going into the mp services
otherwise should be a choice and it should not be needed to play singler player or lan games :(
