Vacant Industry was a lovely map I was inspired by previous episodes in this series to go exploring myself with my friends, it's such a beautiful map with a beautiful sense of scale that had us asking so many questions! Lovely work, man!

Either a home restroom will be the size of the backyard or a public restroom will be the size of a football field with hundreds of stalls inside. Its so strange and I have no idea why it keeps happening.

with Vacant_Industry, it vaguely reminds me of SCP-2000, a massive facility underground, that produces the entire population of earth to instantly repopulate in case of a world ending event

I can't remember where I heard the advice, but it was something along the lines of: "If you want to enjoy games more, play as if you're the one making the E3 release trailer of it. Take it way too seriously, react as a person would in the situation you're in, and let yourself give in to what you're experiencing a little. React, actually scan the rooms you're in, consider what NPCs tell you as if they were people. You'll get a lot more out of it." My friend and I played the factory map about a year ago but we didn't realize there was anything after fixing the reactor. It was awesome seeing you explore the rest of it, I was pretty excited when I saw it pop up in the video lol
I love my recommended. Source engine does feel like home. The way it moves, the way it feels. It's just perfect in so many ways, and flawed in all the perfect ways too. Great to see maps like this and you have a fantastic presentation. Solid stuff!
My weeks have been so busy and chaotic, it's nice to sit down at work in a calm rainy day and just listen to Logan's smooth voice and calm demeanor, thank you for being you Logan, you are my favorite skeleton (if you are curious, the close second place is the papyrus from undertale)
I find Liminal spaces like these weirdly comforting. My mental 'safe space' is an abandoned public pool entirely enshrouded in darkness (so much so that it could easily be subterranean). It's all shimmering sheets of light reflecting off of waves undulating and lapping at the edges, but also orange lighting forming pockets of warmth, as well as mattresses scattered throughout. The changing room showers hide tiled corridors that zigzag down into the bowels of the earth, the water from the shower heads cascading down the steps into an endless labyrinth. There's something about the absolute isolation that I find incredibly soothing, as someone who struggles with people. The abrupt contrast of cool, wet concrete and the warmth of various little sheet nests results in a fluctuation of cool winds whipping past me and the staccato rays of warmth beating against my skin
That's interesting since my own mind palace is a slightly dilapidated shack on a plateau, overlooking an expanse of wilderness. A similarly lonely place but it's comfy.
18:29 The Thing is a great movie, but I gotta say the one scene where they're doing the test to see who is and isn't The Thing by burning drops of their blood is pretty dumb. Like testing everyone's blood and all is well and good, but when you're tying people up to do a Thing Test, you should A. not tie them together and B. untie them as soon as they pass the test. Because if you don't do those two things you end up with part of your remaining, living crew tied to a Thing, which is what happened and probably should not have happened.
To be fair, they all were pretty scared and panicked, you could just put it down to them not being in their right mind. When you think about it that way, it doesn't seem that strange they weren't all perfectly logical and such.
@@f0x1ro1 I think there's a difference between not thinking completely logically and tying your friends to a Thing. I personally would not do that, even if I was kinda freaked out.
21:55 Just as a note on the coloured lines on the wall, not sure if it's standard but hospitals here use a similar marking scheme to lead visitors and patients to different wards.
Its amazing just how well you emulate the Ross Scott vibes dude, it feels like im watching a combination of Freemans Mind and Game Dungeon with a dash of The Librarian sprinkled on top, defo earned a sub.
New to this series, but I'm liking it so far! Reminds me a lot of Freeman's Mind in terms of the commentary, big fan of that, I'll definitely be watching more!
logan, I gotta keep it a buck with you, I love your videos so much. the amount of work you put into them always inspires me to keep working on my own videos. so sick, keep it up. anyways, that last map was cool as hell, the biomass in the walls was creepy as hell.
I absolutely love this video. Especially the little guys segment at the end. I think it would make an amazing short series talking about little highlights in those maps. Much love!!
Hey Logan, I've been going through some losses in life right now, and your videos and your voice have been really helpful to me, these map exploration videos just hit that special niche of mine that no other UA-camr can fill. Appreciate the great content man, and I can't wait for the next video.
UA-cam recommendation doing its job, I love your commentary as you're exploring these locations - and, you certainly got me to consider downloading some of these maps. If I ever need to watch some Gmod exploration, I got you and the Librarian to watch.
I absolutely love this form of content, it’s fun to hear you analyze and say how you feel about where you are, and large areas in games like this always feel so… interesting
Okay some of the commentary got a good few laughs from me and im not even 5 minutes in. You earned yourself a sub my guy, im so glad this was recommended to me.
This is one of the best videos i've ever watched. This is why i play video games. This is why i've spent the last 10 years making levels for video games as a hobby. The unimaginable joy i feel whein i find a new well-made exploration map or game that has just the right themes like, this video captures everything about that perfectly. Subbed!
these videos remind me of the librarian's gmod exploration videos except with faster pacing and more light-heartedness. both very thoughtful about map design, great at storytelling, and very enjoyable!
sgmod has so many maps that encapsulates the feeling I want to feel when in a horror scenario- even if unintended, the uneasiness of being inside the house just looking out into the endless field, EVEN in broad daylight...it doesn't feel right. Same goes for the majority of maps but it's especially true for when it doesn''t seem like it's intended to be a horror setting. And as far as I know, only gmod can make me feel that way. Love it.
throwing down the box was fun because you will only ever do whatever brings you the most pleasure, if you weren't expecting pleasure from interacting in the box that way you wouldn't have done it
I love the way you're able to analyze your environment in these videos! Like when you point out that the trash room is full of domestic trash, or that the smooth cave was probably formed chemically. They're such interesting and insightful details, which I'd never have come to myself. It feels a little like watching a detective story. Great stuff!
I have a really nice memory of exploring vacant industry with a friend, we took about 2 hours to get to the reactor and seeing that point wasn't the end just makes me want to explore that amazing map even more. genuinely one of the cooler maps in the workshop and you can feel the amount of effort put into it.
I love the roleplay bits that you do in this kind of videos, its more immersive, and also that there is a history to this random skeleton, going around exploring places where he shouldnt be Maybe you should check out p'nk black maps, the "voidplaces" series, they got a history and mistery going that you might like Also, the voice and text that you gave the AI is really good, props to the voice actor
Found your channel when this go reccomended to me by UA-cam. I was here, just please don’t make this become the only thing your known for, the other content you put out is just as good!
Ive been watching your videos for a few days now, and I just wanna say I really love your video style. Each one of these videos has a really charming calming aura. I dunno how else to describe it lol. Your videos are just super nice to watch and I love your content lol :D
After the start of the Vacant Industry part intrigued me, I went and downloaded the map for myself, and explored on my own. I fixed up Prisms, took them around for a while, and soaked in the lore and atmosphere. I'm glad I did- this is one of the best GMod maps I've ever seen. It gave me *huge* Rain World vibes the whole way through. Anyone who enjoyed the atmosphere this map had- I encourage you to check out Rain World, if you haven't already. Vacant Industry's creator is a fan too, judging by the Iterator map they made. It's a deeply atmospheric, lonely and beautiful game... with plenty of labyrinthine, ancient industrial sprawl.
I love the exploration of these curious locations, seeing what lurks around every corner. Kind of wish you spent a bit more time in that first map where the glowing hives were, seems like you found them and peaced out right away. Though, I love all the bits of story you injected into the maps like climbing down on ropes instead of just jumping, as well as the voiceovers. Took me a couple of lines before I realized Prisms’s voice was added later, rather than being part of the map. V well done.
These kinds of maps are really endearing to me. There's something great about the familiar weirdness. These kinds of maps were Liminal Spaces before Liminal Spaces.
Holy what a find! I oftentimes skip over smaller UA-camrs but you definitely remind me why I should never skip! You have awesome content, keep going even when it tells you not to, you got this man keep up the cool work!

My weeks have been so busy and chaotic, it's nice to sit down at work in a calm rainy day and just listen to Logan's smooth voice and calm demeanor, thank you for being you Logan, you are my favorite skeleton (if you are curious, the close second place is the papyrus from undertale)
great work man, as always your stuff is so well made. thanks again
Man I honestly love these. Please keep making more. So comfy! It inspires me to revisit some of the old maps I used to play and make a video!
I'm glad that the Freeman's Mind version of John Freeman (Who is Gordon Freeman's brother) makes gmod exploration videos
A similarly lonely place but it's comfy.
freeman's mind ass commentary. I fuck with it
18:29 The Thing is a great movie, but I gotta say the one scene where they're doing the test to see who is and isn't The Thing by burning drops of their blood is pretty dumb.
Im pretty sure they DID untie all the people who passed the blood test though?
@@Lewd-Tenant_Isan There were very much people tied to the titular Thing when it failed the test and flipped its shit on everyone.
21:55 Just as a note on the coloured lines on the wall, not sure if it's standard but hospitals here use a similar marking scheme to lead visitors and patients to different wards.
I love the rambling commentary, it's reminiscent of freeman's mind while being different enough to be it's own thing. Looking forward to more videos
Its amazing just how well you emulate the Ross Scott vibes dude, it feels like im watching a combination of Freemans Mind and Game Dungeon with a dash of The Librarian sprinkled on top, defo earned a sub.
New to this series, but I'm liking it so far! Reminds me a lot of Freeman's Mind in terms of the commentary, big fan of that, I'll definitely be watching more!
these exploring videos are some of my favorite videos on youtube. i always get giddy when i see them on my homepage. thank you for making them
logan, I gotta keep it a buck with you, I love your videos so much. the amount of work you put into them always inspires me to keep working on my own videos. so sick, keep it up. anyways, that last map was cool as hell, the biomass in the walls was creepy as hell.
I absolutely love this video. Especially the little guys segment at the end. I think it would make an amazing short series talking about little highlights in those maps. Much love!!
This gives me really strong "freeman's mind" vibes! Instantly subscribed.
Hey Logan, I've been going through some losses in life right now, and your videos and your voice have been really helpful to me, these map exploration videos just hit that special niche of mine that no other UA-camr can fill. Appreciate the great content man, and I can't wait for the next video.
Sorry to hear that. I'm glad that my videos and this community can being you some comfort. Much love.
6:21 This whole question sounds exactly like old AVGN for some reason. Explaining some old movie while asking a question about a video game 😅
You are one of the very few youtubers I deem the honor of having ALL notification enabled. Your voice is just too nice.
Thank you so much :)
Found this channel today, immediately fell in love, this is just what i wanted from youtube these days
another beautiful map delve, so glad i was recommended your channel, this is such a treat to tune in to every single time.
10:40 love the freeman's mind reference.
Subbed!
Wow, that's a huge compliment. I'm glad we resonate with the same ideas. Welcome aboard!
this is amazing! this scratched an itch for me i didnt even know i had. ill definitely be binging this series
these videos remind me of the librarian's gmod exploration videos except with faster pacing and more light-heartedness. both very thoughtful about map design, great at storytelling, and very enjoyable!
sgmod has so many maps that encapsulates the feeling I want to feel when in a horror scenario- even if unintended, the uneasiness of being inside the house just looking out into the endless field, EVEN in broad daylight...it doesn't feel right. Same goes for the majority of maps but it's especially true for when it doesn''t seem like it's intended to be a horror setting.
And as far as I know, only gmod can make me feel that way. Love it.
Your voice is so unbelievably soothing, never stop doing these
throwing down the box was fun because you will only ever do whatever brings you the most pleasure, if you weren't expecting pleasure from interacting in the box that way you wouldn't have done it
that's deep. Really brings into question the concept of free will.
I really enjoyed this style of narration, both leaning into the story while still having a humor about it. Great watch.
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
I appreciate the discovery in this video. It makes me feel like I’m watching The Goonies as a kid again. I love mysterious hidden rooms.
First unlaggy blighttown footage ive ever seen
@NotoriousScoundrel420 Basically the only noticeable difference in Remastered.
I love the way you're able to analyze your environment in these videos! Like when you point out that the trash room is full of domestic trash, or that the smooth cave was probably formed chemically. They're such interesting and insightful details, which I'd never have come to myself. It feels a little like watching a detective story. Great stuff!
I stumbled on this video and just got done binging all your other stuff, please keep making more content because i love the vibe
27:48 I appreciate the Freeman's Mind reference there.
The way these videos are edited and the way he talks makes it feel strangely comforting to watch
I was hoping that at 34:47 he would say “doing some quick hot dog math that’s 466,666 hot dogs down”
I have a really nice memory of exploring vacant industry with a friend, we took about 2 hours to get to the reactor and seeing that point wasn't the end just makes me want to explore that amazing map even more. genuinely one of the cooler maps in the workshop and you can feel the amount of effort put into it.
I love the roleplay bits that you do in this kind of videos, its more immersive, and also that there is a history to this random skeleton, going around exploring places where he shouldnt be
Maybe you should check out p'nk black maps, the "voidplaces" series, they got a history and mistery going that you might like
Also, the voice and text that you gave the AI is really good, props to the voice actor
Yeah, Dan did a great job! Check out his channel @dasuccisucci
Found your channel when this go reccomended to me by UA-cam. I was here, just please don’t make this become the only thing your known for, the other content you put out is just as good!
It’s like these maps are their own games, even tho they are so empty
I love the vibe of this video so much! Can't wait to watch the other / older ones.
“Whoa, it’s all purple and vibe-y down there!”
Thank God the algorithm brought you to me. You are what I needed. Keep up the good work.
We're meant to be bros.
I spend and have spent so much time exploring random gmod maps. There are so many gems out there of super cool story telling maps.
Vacant Industry is one of the few I know already, from both watching The Librarian go through it, and playing in it myself
Another great where are we now episode, looking forward to future videos
6:07 Brother that groaning is the Shadow coming to get you. That temple housed an Orb, no doubt.
33:18 don't say that again
:)
do*
i love the commentary, it's very freemans mind
@@Polygonetwo Truthfully, there wasn't too much down there in the hive. Just a couple of rooms. Thanks for watching!
just stumbled across the channel, love this sort of gaming geographic lol this acc deserves so much more attention
Thank you!
Sweet i binged your videos and watched this one first. I can say it's my favorite.
These kinds of maps are really endearing to me. There's something great about the familiar weirdness. These kinds of maps were Liminal Spaces before Liminal Spaces.
Dude your one of the best UA-camrs ever love the content keep it up!
Another wonderful video! Always nice to eat a oversized bowl of cheesy rice and watch strange Gmod maps ive never seen.
Holy what a find! I oftentimes skip over smaller UA-camrs but you definitely remind me why I should never skip! You have awesome content, keep going even when it tells you not to, you got this man keep up the cool work!
Thanks for checking out my channel, glad you're having fun.
I recognize those chirps at 36:06!! that's the handshake tone for slow-scan television transmission. you can feed the audio into a decoder program and it'll turn it into an image. what the hell kind of easter eggs are buried in that map??
40:19 OH HEY IT'S ME! XD
Thanks for the legwork on translating those SSTV signals btw.
@@loganfromearth I've since decoded another signal with the help of a friend. it was a massive block of binary that was kinda hard to read due to the limited resolution (320x240) and lack of sharpness of SSTV.
