  • This video will give you a step by step walkthrough for installing proximity entry on a 2018+ JL or JT using the parts found at www.jlwranglerforums.com/foru...
    Tools needed include:
    T20 Torx
    T25 Torx (Long)
    T30 Torx
    10mm deepwell socket
    Masking tape
    Interior panel tool
    Please note that I already had the option code added on my Gladiator, and that is why it worked immediately. This is a very important step that can be read about at the above link.
    Hope this helps!

    What a great video! So many DIY walkthroughs skip steps because they're "self-explanatory" ... and those are the steps that no-experience folks like me then panic at and struggle with! Thanks for taking the time to show each step in (probably for you) painstaking detail!

    Awesome. I am buying my leased jeep and I didn’t want to do any mods until I knew I was keeping it. Been wanting to do this for some time. I had it on other cars but just assumed it was standard on Jeeps. It’s one option I missed when shopping it out. If you can build a Lego set, you can do this mod. Going to use your video when I picked this mod up.

    This along with installing the Auxiliary Switches (part of the Tow package) seems like they involve so much extra work that it’s a must have option from factory IMO. Enjoyed watching you do all this though - made it much simpler to tackle.

      Do you mind sharing how you got the dealership to add the “code”. The forum is unclear as to what specifically needs to be added. A sales code or what. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @jeeprumbler
      @jeeprumbler  4 роки тому +2

      I had a long journey getting the sales code added. The exact thing that has to be done is the dealer has to call their tech adviser or area manager to have them add the sales code "GXD" to your specific VIN. Then your local dealer has to perform a "restore vehicle configuration" in order to have the option take once it is in the Chrysler system as being attached to your VIN.
      Since MOPAR doesn't sell a kit to do this the local dealers don't have the option of adding it at their level like remote start or aux switches, so they have to involve Chrysler. Apparently, there's a ticket in to get this delegated to them, but it hasn't happened yet. If they tell you all they see they can add is GXM, they probably aren't involving Chrysler.
      As a note, not all dealerships will even attempt this, and the ones that do might have tech advisors that won't help out, so that's the trickiest piece of this puzzle until they gain the ability to do it 100% locally.

    For anyone considering doing this there are a few things to know. My kit from Mopar was $450US with driver, passenger and rear door handles and harnesses. After you install everything it won't work until you program the Jeep, the dealer charged me an additional $200 to do that. Definitely worth it for us! Oh and one last thing, if you grab the handle and try to push the lock button it won't lock, you have to just press the button without touching the handle.

      Thanks for the tip, just got a JT Rubicon, but didn't have the option on it. Is it possible to just have dealership do all of this for the combined price or would you recommend just installing it yourself then having the dealership program it, as you mentioned. It seems fairly straight forward, so either way I probably wouldn't mind.

    • @billpetersen2006
      @billpetersen2006 2 роки тому

      @@MidKnight2142 A rubicon didn't have it? That's surprising, but I would go back to the dealer and tell them to add it. At the very least no charge for adding the code. The rubicon should def come with this option. My JL Rubicon did.

    Pro Tip: Run the pigtail around the outside of the window seat (the white plastic holder it goes into when down). I did not, and it pulled the plug (both sides) of the connector off the handle when the window went down all the way. Thankfully it snapped back on and did not pull out the wires.
