Thank you so much for this, Chad! I'm a total amateur and was able to do this in under an hour (driver's side only). Dealer was willing to do the GXD code and refresh for $80.

Awesome Video man. With your help i flew through the install. You got excellent shots that helped me with every little question i had along the way. Another way to save $$$ for anyone reading is to get a JL Tazer mini. It allows you to do hundreds of mods to your software such as tire size adjustments switching from hallegen to led lights and turning on any bonus features like keyless entry. This meant I was able to save the trip to the dealership and turn this feature on in my driveway. Its about 300 but for all the features you get its one of the best purchases ive made. If it saves you 50 to 80 for every 5 minute change the dealer has to make it can pay off fast.

I had these handles on my Sahara. And I recently traded it in for a gladiator and I miss this option soooo much. Pulling the keys out to unlock the car every time is a pain. The shop that works on my car quoted me $2000 to get it done. Sooooo happy I found this video. Going to try doing it myself!

What a joke… $2000 for what?? It actually pisses me off that it doesn’t come with passive entry there is negligible material difference so for jeep to add it at the factory would have been pennies…

@@ChadMyers73 I just picked up a an OBD2 bluetooth sensor and plan on using JSCAN this morning to turn them on, I'm going larger tires next month plus it also does all kinds of other stuff so I don't have to worry about the dealer.

Have anyone tried ordering this item and actually received it? It been on back order since March
For anyone considering doing this there are a few things to know. My kit from Mopar was $450US with driver, passenger and rear door handles and harnesses. After you install everything it won't work until you program the Jeep, the dealer charged me an additional $200 to do that. Definitely worth it for us! Oh and one last thing, if you grab the handle and try to push the lock button it won't lock, you have to just press the button without touching the handle.
I’m sure every dealer will have a different cost for turning on the sales code. Mine was only $80. Also would like to add like I said in the video I would definitely go to the dealer first and make sure the sales code is there to be turned on.
For $250 I purchased a Tazer JL mini, plugged it in under the steering wheel, went right to the option for proximity and switched it to yes. Done. I also now have the option to change all kinds of stuff on my jeep. Great investment to have.

Interesting, and surprising it's not $1000 for the parts! :D I thought the 2021 Gladiator we got was coming with this option, but wasn't a big deal not having it. Good to know that for not much money and not much effort I can add it. Great thing is it won't be something that was financed and paid for the duration of the loan.
Absolutely right for right around $400 I added an option that may have cost thousands to move up to a different package of jeep.
Warning! Do not use impact for everything like the video!
First of all, outstanding video. I zipped right through this install, doing both doors and gate at the same time, while watching video. The two days of drama all started on the final stretch on the driver's side. Got one of the two bolts that hold the window to the track cross threaded and the impact sheared it right off. After many failed attempts to drill it and tap it, finally had to completely remove the inner panel by pulling the handle and lock cables through the holes, then had to remove the motor from the panel so the tap handle had enough room to turn into the bolt. Finally got it out to proceed. Common sense told me to keep the cables just like they were going back into the panel but oh no, you got to cross them first, behind the panel. As many times as I had these panels on and off, I'd say I've changed out five of these 😆. Needless to say after all my trouble, I screwed, unscrewed, and screwed again, all by hand.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. And for those looking for the gate info : same process, remove bolt holding handle, remove handle, install new handle, pop loose the plastic panel, connect small jumper wire, snap it back on. You're done.

Just finished installing my kit with your video! Do you know how to find the “sell code?” The dealership says they can’t do the “Flash Activation” without a “sell code” that should have been included with the parts.
The sales code is GXD
Is your jeep a sport or sport S model? You didn’t have to spice any wires at all?
Sport S no all plug and play
What about the car key? Is the existing one will work or do you need to get another key and program it?

Does the Dealer need me to physically have the parts to Turn on the Sales Code or can I just go get it turned on while I wait for the part?
Yes went to the dealer and had the code turned on before I had my parts.
Thank you for uploading the video. This is something my wife and I are strongly considering doing ourselves. Does the proximity button unlock all the doors? If not is there a way to configure it so that a second press of the button unlocks all the doors?

Great vid, I have 2021 gladiator and I asked (dealership)them today about doing this and they told me they couldnt cause this kit doesn't exist

My wife bought the JLU diesel Sport (no power locks or power windows because Jeep wanted an extra $5k!!!). Well she regretted not getting the Sport S….
So I bought and installed the aftermarket 4 door and tailgate JLU lock kit by A1 Electric ($418). This kit works great! But this Mopar proximity kit would make loading and unloading our little kids that much easier.
Question, do you think it is possible to tie in the Mopar proximity kit with a standard aftermarket door lock kit? (Assuming the GDX code can in fact be turned on).

Is this on a sport s? Did your kick panel panel on body side have wires #15 and #16? If it did, does your keep have blind spot monitor?
Yes it is a sport s and no I do not have blind spot monitoring
Mine doesn’t have the pins either, so you know the part number for the wire harness on how to get it to work?
Do the remotes that come with the vehicle automatically work with the passive door lock?
Yes, they did on mine
Can you turn off the honk when locking the door?
Not sure never tried it may be within the door lock settings that you can change
I just built a 2022 gladiator and my dealer said that they're not able to put the proximity door handles on the built without the half door option. Makes no sense to either of us!!
Yeah the doors shouldn’t make a difference I wouldn’t think.
Will this work on a sport with no power doors?
I would have to say no
Instead of goin to the dealer to activate you can spend 25$ on JSCAN and activate it along with a security dongle.
Yes you do have that Option but I prefer to keep everything as factory as possible. But that’s just me.
Any idea if the Rubicon comes with the required harness already?

@ 11:15 (time), why would you leave one of the 10mm bolts for the top of the inside door panel off?
That is the one that helps hold your door panel on

how about switching out the interior door handles to match the color of your jeep instead of the silver? should i take that to a dealer to have done?
If I remember correctly you can change them out while you have your door panels off.

Chad, that was one of the best save the day video's, I just got home & realized I didn't have the Passive system, I was freaking out, I bought a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Mojave, when I got home after an aggravating time during my purchase, I overlooked that issue, but long story short, like you said if your use to that system, you have to have it. It’s a pretty easy and inexpensive upgrade.
Chad, I have a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon with remote door locks. I have installed Mopar #254650690562 door & Tailgate kit. The dealer programmed the code GXD prior to the install. The doors do not work except with the key FOB. The tailgate works fine, it opens with just the touch of the handle and locks when the button is pushed. I checked for the pins #15 & 16, in the door kick panel connectors and they are present. It almost seems as if there is no power to the door handles, as the tailgate handle does??? I changed all of the wire harnesses and handles and end caps. Has anyone else had this problem?
Make sure not to hold on to the handle when you’re pushing the button. Other than that I would take it back to the dealer and make sure they turned on the right code.

@@ChadMyers73 everything installed correctly and the code was correct. The magnets in the end caps of the door handle were NG! I took the end caps off and tested the handle with my magnetic tool retriever and held it close to the door handle where the end cap is inserted and they work fine! New end caps solved my problem!
why do you need a sales code? and do I need a sales code even if I have a tazer?
The sales code makes it work with the computer on the Jeep. And no I you use a tazer you can turn it on that way

@@riavinod8025 I have not yet. I don’t have a sport so I’m not sure. But I know that most of the Jeep dealerships are not knowledgeable and give misinformation. You have to call around till you get the right person. Ask them about the code that needs to be turned on.

Hey Chad I have a 3 week old Gladiator Overland Trim. I just contacted my local dealership to check my vin and the code. You thought I was speaking Martian. He had absolutely no idea. First he (Parts guy) flat out told me No it cannot be done. I tried to explain him yes it can and has been done. But he didn’t want to hear it. Told me theirs no such kit from Mopar like that. I had to give him the individual part numbers for each piece SMH. Anyways I ordered thru allmoparparts. It’s a 45 day waiting period. I’m gambling here and hope it works with my Jeep because he was no help at all. I’ll be doing the work myself using your video as my guide. He did tell me that whatever code you used would work for all Gladiators. Don’t know if that’s true or not.
Yes I do believe it is the same code for all. Take it to the service department and have them plug it in to their computer.
