As a Mexican in another Balkan country (Greece), he hit the nail on the head with the freedom bit. I've never felt more at ease and free than in a country where I can walk anywhere, do anything and not fear that someone will try to mug me or rob me, or that I need to be in a semi-paranoid state when it's dark outside. We're so much more alike, Balkans and Latin Americans, than we'd believe and it's incredible how the culture shock isn't nearly as big as one would initially believe.
Idk how can ppl live like that, it's like living in an open prison, lol I've always said Latinos and Balkan ppl have a lot in common, the mentality is insanely similar.
Well, so much more alike but also not. Difference is, not being killed for $50, no criminal clans leading wars on the streets, God fearing people, Freedom for your children they can go out and you don't worry they will not came back, not being robbed... and 100 further thinny things which made it a paradise on earth.

And of course, Kusturica's "When father was away on business" opens with a Mexican song.
Just sent this to my dear neighbors from Mexico 🇲🇽 I didn’t expect anyone from there to be in RS. Novi Sad is more western closer to central EU, people are still kind but as in any western country they need to establish trust and once you are in they are friends for life . I am originally from Srem region / Vojvodina and I am a mix of Risin, Slovak and Serb growing up in Vojvodina which is predominantly Slavek with people from Ukraine, Rusin, Slovak , Hungarian and Austrian which brings a different cultural flavor then the central or southern region.Greetings from Texas 🤠
