I bought an Irish Whiskey Reserve bottle from Aldi about 8 years ago from Aldi for £35, its 26 years old, which means it was distilled in 1989. It was probably distilled in Middleton too. I reckon it doesn't taste too good, but it must be worth loads based on this, LOL!

Hi Mark thanks for the video nice to see irish whiskey being highlighted. I enjoy watching the videos and have picked up good advice so thanks. I've been buying and selling mvr for 20plus years. I'd say the 1989 would be hard also if not basically impossible to get. I think it's a better buy for the past 20 or so years in roi vs macallan 18. Once you go back to 2017 and to the slender box your looking at a minimum of 7x retail and on up the 2009 for example was 70 euro retail and is now regularly at 4400 euro and above. The thing about midleton is its not really widely know how much each year is coming out although they're def has been more laid down from 14 years ago to today as volume has increased. I think your better off to buy a full set somewhere around 70k at auction and brake down what you want and auction the rest. As a collector I mean. Thanks again and keep up the interesting videos. From an investor point your collection will be worth a lot more if you can go back to 2013 as the distillers changed at 2014 and the box changed for the second release of 2017. They release in March and October each year.
Hi Ed. Glad you liked the video. I know what you mean - there are some real gems to be had. And you can sometimes find them hiding in plain sight at retailers at bargain prices. That would never happen with a Macallan but if you know what to look for the world is your oyster!

that 2023 box is taking the micky ;;; i don't find irish whiskey very tasty , so do not know what the fuss is about ;; must try some more , i have a 28 yr dufftown [ o.m.c. ] that cost about 88 pounds thats an eighties bottling - but it's valueless , strange world heh ;;
