I hope you enjoyed the trip, lads. I worked in Jameson last year and when you announced you were coming to Ireland I got straight on to the higher ups and told them to invite you. It's a shame I couldn't be there to welcome you but I'm glad it looks like it was a good idea
Whiskey Tribe you're very welcome! When I started working there as a tour guide I subscribed to your channels so I could learn as much about whiskey as possible. It just made sense to me that we got you in to visit, I was delighted when they agreed 😀
Aaron, you are a true Magnificent Bastard. Thank you for getting the wheels turning. This was a great episode, and Jameson is a wonderful gem of a whiskey and distillery. Thanks again, dude. Sláinte!
On behalf of the followers of this channel can I thank the distillers that have allowed you in so we can get fantastic content like this ... Magnificent B..................
@Joshua Morgan a nice wholesome documentary/tour about Irish whiskey and there's somehow a racist eejit in the comments. Please don't claim any to have any Irishness, we don't want you
Went and visited my bud in Ireland 2 months ago - very cool. Dublin is def a large city - but gives perspective as to why their drinks are so important to Ireland's fabric. I thought it was going to be like the stereotypical Aussie beer (Fosters) that nobody there actually drinks, but it's not. Irish people do love their Jameson, Tullamore, and Guiness - among others. The drinks tours we took were equally as beneficial as the landscape. For a whisky guy - it's a worthwhile trip.
I think their concept is genious. I get a feeling, that Jameson does many things right, in sense of marketing, that Gibson guitars does wrong. By now I still had a bit of sympathy for Gibson being in a conflict between being an old brand, with a lot of legacy and very specific expectations, how their products should be, and being a modern brand and still being innovative. But apparently, this is how you do it. You keep your original produkt as original as possible and separate your new ideas from that. That way, the experimental stuff can act more freely, being supportet by the big brand, but doesn't compete with it by having the same name.
Which is exactly why Fender hasn't had that problem...American Standard is the traditional...everything else is free game. It also doesn't hurt that their top tier, non-custom guitar is cheap enough (Cheaper than the main brand entry level of Gibson or PRS) that modifying it doesn't feel like a sin. JAmeson's volume helps to keep their experimentation affordable to the consumer, mostly a bunch of midling priced batches that represent themselves very well instead of a few massively overpriced and unavailable expressions.
@@choppersplace I'll definitely check them out soon, thanks for the recommendations! I've currently got a bottle of Jameson Caskmates Stout that I'll be trying later today.
Same here, I’m a big lover of Jameson Whiskey and I have been since I was 16 living in England and I am now 20 still in England. Honestly the best whiskey I have ever had and always will go too is a standard triple distilled Jameson whiskey. Although Jameson Black barrel beats all whiskey ever !!!!
As an archivist, the segment with Carol Quinn was absolutely incredible. The history of that distillery and their attention to detail is truly beautiful. What an awesome video!
holy mole! 34,000 bottles of whiskey lost to angel share DAILY...34,000!... translate: there must be a popular and long que in heaven with many angels just itchin to stand guard over the Jameson distilleries.
Just yesterday, I bought myself a celebratory bottle of Readbreast 21. It is comfortably the best whiskey I have ever tasted. And so it was really cool to check UA-cam this morning to find the tribe guys showing us the very stills where it gets made!
I gained a lot of respect for Jameson after watching this... I barely put them above plastic bottle whiskey mentally, an ignorance that has kept me away from tasting their whiskey my whole life. I will have to pick up a bottle just because they run a cool ship.
I was just there Aug of 2019, the smell of the barrels in those rooms was so amazing. Got to taste straight from one of the barrels and I can't wait to go back. That time was a business trip but would pay to go back anytime. Thank you for bringing me back with this video.
One of the best videos I have ever encountered. Not just as a whiskey drinker, but as someone who enjoys well done video content. Well done guys 🖒🖒🖒👏👏👏
As a fellow whisk(e)y enthusiast who has been there as well, this video captured everything that distillery stands for. Everybody at Jameson Middleton loves what they do, are extremely knowledgeable about the entire process, and are some of the most friendly people on the planet. We spent 3 hours there, including the small batch "laboratory", and I felt like I still had so much to learn and experience. Bringing the bottle of Distiller's Reserve back home made up for it a bit though.
I have to say guys this was one of the best whiskey videos I have ever experienced . I just couldn't stop watching. Such an amazing company and heritage! All the different areas were great but especially loved the Prototyping experimental distilling operation and the Academy School. These just blew me away. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to bring your whiskey and whisky fans this once in a lifetime video. Slainte!
The best way to endear someone to a brand is to have this kind of tour and behind the scenes look. While I've liked Jamison for years, I appreciate them more after watching this. 👍
Amazing stuff guys, thank you so much for making this trip (like we had to twist your arm), and thanks to Middleton for giving us this view. LOVE IT!!!
Yes!!! Such a good video. I’m on an Irish whiskey adventure in my life and then....you do this. Experienced green spot last weekend(whoah). My taste buds are getting used to the sweetness and the smooth feel. Distilled three times! Why!?! Well... because, obviously. Thanks y’all.
Seriously guys, fantastic video. Proud to have been a part of this channel over the years. I’ll be in Austin this October, looking toward to visiting the tasting room.
Truly jealous! Love the video. Never has the dude been so happy, been with you guys since the modern rogue learned how to order whiskey like gentlemen. I tell every spirit handler I come in contact with about the gloriousness that is the tribe and the vault. One day I will grace the vault and the Crowded Barrell with my presence. To the hobbit, hey man, love the history nerd sessions. KEEP IT UP!
One of our favorite things to do is visit distilleries when we travel. Visited Teeling and Bushmills while in Ireland this year. Also, visited George Dickel distillery in Tullahoma, TN. They have a new product aged in barrels used to make Tabasco sauce from Louisiana.
About 70 years ago, when my Dad worked for an importer, he would go down to the docs with the customs guys to tap barrels. They were taking samples for proof testing so as to calculate the inport duty. Everyone involved would take along empty bottles which would slowly fill with impromptu blends.
I've brewed beer for over 10 years and tried many of the rarest beers. Jameson Caskmates was my gateway whiskey a few years ago. That bit of chocolate Stout added to Jameson to connect my love of beer and introduce me to whiskey again. Think I have nearly 30 bottles of whiskey in my collection at the moment.
Top notch vid! Content and editing excellent! Makes me wish I could trawl through what was left on the cutting floor! I'm with Daniel regarding spreadsheets... soooo... 34,000 bottles Angel share a day, assuming 700ml bottles is 23,800 litres lost every day! Call it 24kl/day. The typical Olympic swimming pool is said to be 2.5Ml in volume, so that's about 3.5 Olympic pools worth a year! (Who else just imagined drunk Angels cutting laps? lol) The lowest production number I heard was 2300 barrels a day. So assuming 300l barrels (which looks about right based on scaling the images), that's 690,000 litres per day of production. Holy shit! That's a llllllllot of whiskey. That means Angel share is about 3.5% of daily production. TBH, that's less than I thought it was going to be. At 690kl/day production, that's about an Olympic pool's worth of whiskey every 3.6 days, or about 101 Olympic pool's worth of whiskey a year! That's simply enormous. FWIW, they cover their annual angel share in a little over 12 days... less than two weeks production.
Omg this was awesome! Loved the inside tour of Jameson. Such an iconic distillery. Also you both added such levity. The information provided was stellar. Cheers!
Wow, what an amazing video showing the behind the scenes of Jameson. Would love to visit there one day. Thanks guys for taking us the viewers along with you.
Ha! That blue painted tool he used to open the barrel near the end, I have one- and now I finally know what it's for! I found mine in a skip a few years ago and have never known what it was for until now, mine is French. Thank you Whiskey Tribe, good channel btw.
Great video !! Watched this sipping on a blend of Knappogue Castle 12 SM, Teeling SM and Slane and it's amazing ! Anyway, cant wait to visit Ireland next year. Cheers !!!
If Whiskey Tribe comes out with a whiskey i want free bottles . I'm calling it now . Things like this always happen and guys like this create there own brand.. So I'd appreciate it.
A little insight, I lived near the distillery in Middleton for 2 years (about 2 miles away), some morning's you would wake up and there would be a beautiful warm smell from the distillery in the air
First I was like oh cool a Jameson tour, and then it kept getting cooler and cooler and now I'm late for work.
Just an amazing experience just to see the video. Imagine being there!
What do you do?
Me too! This video is informative but also these guys are so entertaining. Love it!

It just goes to show that big doesn't necessarily mean bad. Another great video.
I wasn't expecting much from a big brand distillery, but this was pretty awesome.
Yes very true ,but they really have to work at that aspect of their image/ tradition / heratige to not become just a huge chemical company
That's what she said....
I'm sorry....

I agree. But let’s be honest. They have Jameson too.
