This mans attention to detail and care in his product is unmatched. I cant imagine how good his whiskey must be.
This is, hands down, the most educational and interesting video on whiskey/bourbon I've ever watched. Not only is this man a genius, but the videography and storytelling is incredible. Thanks TJ.
The more I listen to this guy the more I realize he is no joke. Loved this.
This man can really talk. Doesn't stutter, stumble, or crutch, just pure information in a smooth southern drawl. I loved every second of it
A man wearing a Heckler and Koch hoodie is a man I want to purchase whiskey from.
Amen
Seth seems as genuine as it gets. I could listen to his take on bourbon for hours.
Seth Dettling is an example of what a person can achieve when they are passionate about something. Fantastic!
He is such a nice guy! Talked with him for quite some time at spillway and he let me have his last bottle of the Pick at the spillway event. I want to do whatever possible to help him out because he goes above and beyond for what a distillery does.
Found some Dettling in KY and immediately picked it up after watching the video. Orange label, BiB. Incredible pour.
This is the best Brewzle video ive seen. I have always wondered why Dettling is under the radar. Its absolutely amazing. Im also in Mobile, Alabama and know Atmore very well as its only 45 mins from me. This man is quite obviously very intelligent and well spoken which gives me even higher hopes for the Dettling future. And im extremely excited to experience it and proud of them for representing our great state. Im on my 3rd bottle of tge cask strength and i have one orange label BiB. Its very rare i buy the same botlle 3 times and once this one is gone, ill be buying a 4th. Thats alot of repeats for someone, as myself, that has a 200+ bottle whiskey collection. I cant say enough about Dettling. Theyre a sleeping giant and i selfishly hope it stays that way bc thats more for me and less for the A-hole hoarders and secondary flippers that buy up all the allocated/unicorns and leave nothing for the rest of us just so they can make a dollar or add it to the multiple bottles they already have. I see people with dozens of unopened EHT, Stagg, etc and all they do is jack the price or let it collect dust. Anyways, forgive my salty rant. 😂 Try Dettling CS if u havent already! Cheers!
I don't like a strong oak finish, which bottle of Dettling should I try
@pammullin2160 the Cask Strength is my favorite. It's the dark brown label but the Bottled in Bond is alot lighter with more fruity notes and thats the red/Orange label. The only bad one is the clear whiskey they make and I've never had the green label one.
This guy is mad genius! Probably one of the best whiskey tour and barrel pick. I hope to try some one day. Thank you for the great content.
same i wanna try his whiskey so bad. he seems great
This is probably the best bourbon video I have literally watched to this day. Absolutely loved this!
One of the coolest picks I've watched and his operational efficiency is top notch. Well done to the both of you.
I had the privilege on purchasing my first dettling cask strength last week. It has truly blown me away. Seth you are an amazing man that knows his stuff and you make an incredible bourbon. Just wanted to truly thank you for doing what you do and I’m definitely a fan for life!!!
"This life" does not get better than: Sip'en good whiskey on the front porch with friends. This video made my week, vicariously. Thanks.
That guy is a true artist and purist.
Man this dude is someone to sit down and really chat whiskey with
I was afraid of ryes for a while because the ones I tried had a bitter harshness I thought was the "rye spice". After trying more ryes, I realized that harshness was just bad whiskey and not the spiciness of rye lol
A quick check shows this man has a finance degree from Auburn School of Business. I LOVE project management and Bourbon.... This is a great video to enjoy and learn both.
This is the best tour/tasting video I've ever seen. This gentleman's attention to detail and knowledge is amazing. If i ever see a bottle of his whisky I'll definitely be buying it
My wife got me a Dettling single barrel bottled in bond for Christmas. It’s a very good bottle and has a different flavor and color than anything else in my collection.
What an absolute stud. I loved his demeanor
Video idea: do livestreams with each livestream being titled as one different state each time. Use all the donations from the livestream to bourbon hunt in that state for a date a month or two in the future.
Once you've done the hunt and spent all the donations on bourbon you hold a meet up with people from that state to have a pour of some of the bourbons they may never have the budget to taste otherwise.
An epic way to make people's day and spread some love within the community!
I'm from the UK and don't drink, just love the channel and would love to see some people get to experience something they may not otherwise.
I always remember the video where you were trying some pours and chatting to a guy at the bar who was having a bad day and you let him have a pour of your bottle then gifted it to him. You gave the guy your ear and a bottle of bourbon on a day where your kindness clearly made his day exponentially better.
Coolest distillery you have went to and probably coolest distiller. Just a regular Joe and his passion for his bourbon.
I wish I could get some of that around me. This man can talk me into buying anything he makes
When the Brewzle Whiskey bar opens I will make the trip for sure. 👍
Who knew Ragnar Lothbrok made whiskey?? Great stuff as always Brewzle!
HA! That's great! I'm watching Vikings right now and you nailed it!
Oh my god, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought he looked like Ragnar!
23:00 We shot at Jack Daniels in 2008 with (then) master distiller Jimmy Bedford and his quote was 10,000 barrels a week. You know that in the 16 years since they've probably 1.5x - 2x 'd production.
Drinking on a Dettling store pick from High Cotton in Oxford, MS. I bought the bottle then saw the video come out! Very good stuff!
Seth Dettling is a master. I really enjoyed this video. Wish it went on longer
My best friend processes game. He does everything the old fashioned way (cast iron kettles, old fashioned smokehouse, etc..). He refuses to expand his cooler capacity because he wants to do everything his way, and knows if he grows he's going to have to change his product. It can take up to 4 days depending on the weather to make some of our products, and he doesn't offer some products that only he and I and some of our close friends get because they are so time consuming he can't get the money for his time from the product. There's something to be said for resisting growth. He's doing this because he wants to, not because he has to.
I’m 50 minutes from atmore down in Baldwin county, just started my burbon journey and am definitely gonna keep an eye out for dettling in the stores
Got to meet both TJ and Seth Dettling at the Spillway Big Bourbon Block Party! Great, knowledgeable people!
this guy is a a whiskey genius. Give me his Rye NOW!!!
Really cool place. I deliver the propane every 2 weeks that they use at the distillery. Always good people and I enjoy watching the process week to week.
This was like a visit to a Unicorn Farm that can only be visited on a Tuesday, on February 29th. I wish this brand had wider release.
You can tell he's incredibly smart and I can only imagine how good his final products taste after all the thought he puts into the process.
love how Brewzle brings levity to all his videos.
5 minutes in and I’m ready to buy a bottle or two. I doubt it’s anything I’ll find in Texas but I’m gonna try.
He's working on distribution in Texas right now but I'm not sure how long before he will get them in stores. We are getting them to the store we work with in Austin so we can ship them online.
@@Brewzle I’m pretty sure I frequent the store you work with in Austin. Same store where you got the Utopia? I’ll talk with him, I like that dude.
TJ - This was one of your best. Perhaps because it was very educational. We can all film, produce and edit hunting videos, but this one was different. Love your content! Don't get me wrong...I still love the thrill of the hunt (you do it very well).
Instead of the background music throughout, maybe add small narrated sections during the factory tour and put the music over those parts to break the video up, but when they’re talking maybe cut the music out or make it way lower, was hard to hear at times and the repetitive guitar riff killed me 😂 great video tho thanks!
This was so awesome to watch. I'm very excited.
This guy reminds me of the old stories of pappy van winkle in the 60s.
It's so good to see someone who comes off as a down to earth guy who is just passionate about making whisky. No high end operations, just attention to detail. I personally would love to open my own distillery and this shows its obtainable. Good stuff Brewzle, one of my favourite videos. All the best Seth! I hope to try some of your whisky one day if it comes to Australia!
Really interesting operation he's got going on. Seems like he knows what he's doing.
Hands down the best whiskey I have ever tried and that is saying something.
That was an excellent video…i find people like him so inspiring ,and love their passion for their journey…Bravo!
This is easily my favorite brewzle video. I’d love to get my hands on a bottle, but sadly too far away from the PNW.
Impressed with this guy.
This is to the distiller. Just a thought here, you should build a a retaining pool for your barrels hydration with a roof above it with tin walls that go into the pool with a sprinkler or a misting system that is run off a pump. That way any excess water runoff goes back into the pool to be sprayed over the barrels again. Good Luck.
Great Video! This guys has a passion for making bourbon! Can’t wait to Try that bottle
Recently took a trip and bought a bottle of dettling bourbon 100 proof. Just off a whim. Haven’t tried it yet. This video makes me so excited to try!!!
I have wanted a bottle of their boubon for years . This is awesome. Thank you guys .
I want to hear more and see more master distillers like this man. Great video TJ thank you!
The BEST whiskey/bourbon video I have seen yet. I would love to be able to taste some of those barrels.
In my opinion this video is in the top five of all of them I've seen from your channel.
Hats off to this family's operation.
I'm hoping one day when my daughters are old enough that I can do something similar.
I haven't gone legal myself but on a state level it's legal in Maine.
I can't go into specifics because of an NDA I signed recently.
Even saying this is very questionable but... Anyways I started the beginning of the casting process for a popular TV show on the discovery channel.😉😉
I'm hoping that prospect goes through, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it if not.
I'm sure it would kick my life in a different direction.
Hopefully in a positive direction.
At the end of the day, I like the direction my life is already in.
I can't deviate from the original family plan.
Even if it involves a five or six figure contract.
Until the next one.
Cheers Mate 💪🍻
I love these types of videos, educational, interesting and fascinating. Keep making videos like this TJ! Absolutely amazing!
Really enjoyed this one. I’ve really am starting to enjoy seeing the whole process and how it is different from each place to each place. You wouldn’t think they would be that much difference I’m making basically the same product but there is.
I just got my hands on my first bottle of eagle rare 🙌 honestly i wouldnt be on this adventure without the help of this channel or TJ so thank you guys!
Very interesting!!!! Hope to grab one of those barrel picks!!
They’re a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere. 😂
lol
I have to admit that I haven't been this engaged with a video in a while. I normally listen for entertainment but really learned quite a bit from Seth. Glad y'all managed to pick up some of whiskey and hope to eventually get to try it!
What passion for his craft. Respect! Very nice video.
what a great great experience, thanks for sharing this.
I enjoyed this video very much. The information presented at a craft scale is the direction that I'm personally heading towards. Great video...
I am absolutely enthused about trying some of this guy's Alabama bourbon as a lifelong Kentucky born and raised bourbon enthusiast.
Protect this man at all costs! Super interesting and tells it how it is. He's proud of his product, but not giving you the corporate sales sheet. I think if he had it his way, he would never sell any whiskey. It looks those barrels are like his kids!
I bet Seth would be great at telling ghost stories.
Really great to relive this. I hope you got to try the tequila finished in chard. It's mind boggling.
Honestly this video hit on so many levels really enjoyed
I might have learned more from this video than any other bourbon video I've watched. I wish I could like it twice.
This guy looks a lot like popcorn Sutton! Prob no relation but another legend in whiskey making
Amazing video!!! I could watch this all day.
I’d love to sit down with this guy and pick his brain on what he does. Such a methodical approach to everything and nothing is just by chance. I wish I lived in the area to get a bottle of this. 😢
Not to mention he looks like Ragnar Lothbrook from Vikings. 😂
This was my favorite whiskey video I have ever watched
GREAT Vid Seth is a cool dude I will be looking for this Rye.
This is a fantastic video……shows great dedication to a craft.
Like every day back at the store! 😂
This was super interesting. Thank you
I don’t drink. But I love watching you and learning and seeing your excitement in these videos. Keep it going
26:20 - I am drawn to Rye on the label... Some of my favourite Gin is made with a 100% rye base spirit, same with my favourite grain based Vodka 100% rye.
Loving that one of my favourite UA-camr also watches one of my other favourites.
Very informative and enjoyable video
Greetings from MGP land! (Indiana) Seems like an awesome family and distillery!
Master of his craft right here.
I’ve been getting into distilling since last year. I’ve been trying to get out to all of the whiskey distilleries in DFW and some of the bigger brands in Texas. 1835 near McKinney TX is a small distillery that y’all need to look out for. They have a great 4 grain bourbon. I’m excited to see what they will do.
You guys should try to be in Texas in a couple of weeks to catch the total eclipse and sample Texas Whiskey -Balcones and others that would be extra cool
This was a great episode!
What a fantastic video, thank you so much, really interesting, I loved it
One of the better once. Thank you.
Rye only has three… aww damn 😂
Great video, master distiller knows his shit!! Field to barrel is an awesome commitment. Mastery in several subjects. And I love to see how much passion he brings to all of them. Cheers!
THIS GUY IS GREAT... BRAVO BROTHER!... I hope to taste your whiskey one day... CHEERS!
This "is" the spirit of America: A man free to follow his passion. May God bless You 'al.
Pity your bourbon is not made in Kentucky. 😉
This is so cool, makes me so excited to get into distilling my own whiskey (distiller should be here in two weeks)
But did anyone else notice at the end of the video it looks like brewzle took that glass?
I took sine samples of the barrels, we left the glasses. We were on our way to sample more whiskey when he had to go fight the fire so we are toting glasses but we left them.
@@Brewzle in that case, when my whiskey is ready to go I'll send you a bottle hahahaha
This guy is a mad scientist!!
He looks just like Travis Finmel… the actor who played Ragnar in the Vikings series!!!!!
In May going to barnestown to Penelope to do a barrel strength pick Great times if no one's done it they don't know what they're missing
I would absolutely love to go there to the event but doggone it 14 hours away is just a little too much to get a bottle of bourbon lol Good luck you guys looks like you're having a freaking blast
I used to avoid ryes but now some of my favorites are rye
Rare breed rye is amazing. Still hunting a Jack Daniels barrel strength rye.
Shouldn’t be too hard to find soon. It’s stupid good
Awesome video, wish I could have been there.
