"We traced the blood, it's coming from inside the boyfriend." Chef's kiss.
I'm never not going to love wounded vampires just draining blood from the surrounding area to heal. And yeah, a mortician having a sort of meet cute with a vampire is very awesome.
This IS a superhero story! "I can't be with you because I'm a vampire" is just like "oh, I can't be with the woman I love because I'm secretly Spider-Man!" lmao
I keep calling this show "Nick at night"
The Dark Knight Forever Rises
@@claytonandres1194 : That would be the best and only title for a new series if they ever brought Nick Knight back. If it happens someday, its gonna be really tough to not have Gerraint Wyn Davies in it. He is absolute gold in this series. As a viewer, its not possible to look away from him for a second because he played Nick Knight so well its easy to forget that Wyn Davies is an actor playing a great character.
Mildo, I feel like you should be informed. When you go ages without a video here, it kinda sucks. But having a video from you every day is simply wonderful.
Not to say I want you to have a video every day, but I mostly want to say you're genuinely appreciated, and I find tremendous joy in your videos.
Oh man, Nick creepin on Natalie's neck with "metaphysical evil" brought back some bad Twilight memories.. as opposed to the good ones 😂
I really like the "face it tiger, you missed the jackpot" bit
4:20: He was going through a phase. It's less embarrassing than the one he went through after Twilight came out.
I have also had that scene of the blood going back into Nick stuck in my mind for almost 30 years. One of the cooler vampire powers in the show that required very little setup - just a good 'ol reverse some footage shot. Totally forgot most of the rest of this episode though. But it's hard to compete for memory space with Nick eating a pipe-bomb then hoovering up some morgue blood.
Your narration is so so funny
Oh thank goodness you're back! You had me scared . . . But not in the normal Cat way . . . In the . . . nevermind
I'm past 40 and squinting at this going, you're telling me Natalie was supposed to be barely *30* here? I don't think she looks particularly old or anything! I'm just realizing that *everybody* in this is like ten years younger than I thought they were. I know beauty stuff has changed, etc, but I'm in the "just recently barely started remembering to use moisturizer" camp and I can't look in the mirror and understand how I'm markedly older than Donald Schanke.
The "Milennials can't age right" meme strikes again. No, but they look older because the outfits are a bit dated.
A lot less sunscreen and a lot more smoking back then.
I know, Nick looks like a baby
@@Rocketboy1313 Not to mention all of the lead just floating in the air from car exhaust.
Nick and Natalie are melodramatic in the flashback!!
The Mary Jane deep cut was lovely and felt like it was just for me because I imagine none of the rest of your audience read that original comic. 🥰
Been binge watching this series for the past 2 weeks and Season 1 is the best one for so many reasons, the main one being the lovely and seductive Janette. Can't get enough of her. Those short tête á tête moments she has with Nicolas inside her nightclub with the goth music playing in the background are must repeat viewings. This is one of my favorite episodes of season 1. Heartbreaking to see Natalie realize how her and Nick can't be together and struggling with her feelings about that. Freaking love this series.
This series you're doing is great, and I'm excited to eventually sit down and watch the show itself!
I thought I was the only one that noticed in the flashback when Nick first met Natalie he was talking more vampirey like if that makes sense it sounded like the actor was trying to do a Dracula European accent and I was like why is Nick talking like that it threw me off when I first watched this episode 😂
He hasn’t quite nailed his Toronto dialect at that point
Yeah, it’s weird. Maybe he was trying to scare Natalie by acting creepy and mysterious?
@@rocketdave719 yeah that's true I can definitely see this being the case , Nick trying to scare Natalie by using his old scary voice and acting mysterious and off putting but she wasn't scared and intimidated at all if anything she was more intrigued by Nick
@roderick8167: makes sense about his Shakespearean/Vampirey voice so maybe he wasn't a cop in Toronto yet when they met. He might have just been checking Toronto out for his new place to live and got caught up in a life threatening situation by saving others by grabbing that bomb. I don't think he was a cop yet because that scene when they walk by each other and Natalie says you can't make me forget, his look like his voice was very different like his clothing wasn't his Detective Knight kind of clothing.
I feel like i should watch the show at this point. I love every episode youve done
I love this so much. Thank you for all of the episodes so far.
"Face it tiger, you just missed the jackpot!"
you're such a champ at ear-worm one liners. you know, the DNA, *is* coming from inside the boyfriend!!!
"too ontologically evil for you" is hilarious and also such a hot thing to say
Mildred, have you never heard of bodies needing a blood transfusion before? Also, "control blood"? I don't think that's how control groups work. What variable would this "control blood" even be controlling for?
The joke understander has logged on!
@@ScaredyCatsTV I actually was trying to make a joke myself but I guess it didn't come across haha sorry about that.
So wait. Does this episode establish that Nick took a nap at a crime scene or just slept in a pile of bodies, the cops found him bagged him and processed him, he slept the entire way to the morgue, and then when he woke up and became special friends with the medical examiner he just walked upstairs to the police station grabbed a badge off someone's desk and said he was a homicide detective now?
There are some holes in this origin story flashback. Like how none of the cops realized one of the dead bodies from the big massacre scene was suddenly up and claiming to be a cop.
I think of it as way more than just a nap, I don't think in the scene his body was individually recognizable or even had a pulse. So most of the regeneration (to borrow the Doctor Who term) happened within the body bag, and by the time it was done he emerged, and Natalie was the only one to even know it happened. Being a Real Scientist, she saw the opportunity for a significantly rarer than a once in a lifetime experiment and helped him out.
@CitanulsPumpkin: I think that when he showed up in the body bag, he wasn't a cop yet but not sure. If he was a cop before he met Natalie that night, maybe he worked in a different precinct or district in the city? Or maybe he was just a passerby on the street who just tried to save people from a bomb explosion. Maybe he wound up getting the job through Natalie? Agree that there's some info missing in this origin story episode. Throughout the series, at one point, he does mention he transferred from Chicago but was he already working in Toronto as a cop when he showed up in the body bag? If so, wouldn't Natalie have recognized him?
@@J.A.1969 I'm reasonably certain Nick hadn't yet joined the force when he met Natalie. The episode "Hunters" (the one where Schanke has to hide out at the Raven) showed that Nick had to have his records falsified by a computer hacker acquaintance, so I'm pretty sure the detail about him transferring from Chicago was part of his phony backstory.
@@rocketdave719 : Good point. Yep. Seen that episode. One of the things that's so awesome about this series is that something that could be seen as a continuity error could just be interpreted as Nick Knight's sometimes dodgy attempts to cover his tracks..
Hunky nosebleed floored me! Thanks, really needed the out loud laugh ^_^
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 love love love love
Almost done. Hope you've enjoyed doing this series so far!
I think Nick was doing that voice in 1990 to try to intimidate her maybe?
Wait so was he a cop when they met or did he BECOME a cop because they met? Like, there's unethical levels of vampire hypnotism either way quite frankly, but I really wanna know.
who was supposed to tell me Schanke is also Carl the Janitor from the Breakfast Club because I had no friggin idea
Forever Knight uses violence against women as a plot crutch?? Say it ain’t so!
This does not appear on video list or in new videos subscription feed for me.
Same, had to come to the forever knight playlist
@@Cesaryeyo I can't get any Scaredy Cats vid to show up in those places. I thought maybe unsubbing and resubbing would fix it, but no love. I have to keep checking the channel to see if new videos are out. I really wonder if UA-cam is broken or if they're suppressing Mildew for some unfathomable, borderline conspiratorial reason.
A common pattern I see is downplaying female characters for the sake of the main character or other male characters. Something still seen to this day, and not even less pronounced than this show.
Did you release 2 of these at once? I've got 2 in my recommends that say they were published 25 minutes ago.
Weird note: I've done some hypnotisms (was learning it out of curiosity) and while I normally talk funny, I did find trying to do that made you pay so much attention to what you were saying and it's possible implications and how to give it useful weighting, that I *talked even more funny* for a bit afterwards.
I am confident none of the writers thought of this, but there's a similar effect when you're trying to convince people of something that might have influenced this, and it's wild that it um resonated.
A Paul reference!?!? damn
Mildred i love you but you uploaded these in the wrong order im weeping
I was kinda hoping since she's characterized as the smart character that we'd get to see her outwit the serial killer. But instead they have her trip so hard she knocks herself out and it was so overdone I sorta laughed a little ... 😔
Well, now I'm confused. Remembering someone's birthday is objectively a good thing, but the show has established that anything Skanke does is stupid and wrong by default. Forever Knight can't go changing the rules now.
If it helps, he follows it up with a diatribe about how he always pretends to forget his wife's birthday before surprising her with a gift when her expectations are low.
@@ScaredyCatsTV That's fine imo. That's a cute thing for couples to do.
Regarding the 'sensitive/sentimental' type; I *highly* recommend "Coroner" by Thomas T. Noguchi.
In it, he reflects on his most famous cases (Monroe, Tate/LaBiana, Janis Joplin ect), one of the major stand-outs is how he details that, despite being surrounded by feds and experts, he had to make the "highly unusual" request to cover the patient's face during the M.E of Robert Kennedy so he (Noguchi) could keep his tears at bay. It's explained why this particular case had such a strong effect on him, but I wouldn't be able to do justice to the man's words.
I also recommend this to anyone interested in forensics, deep dives in high profile cases (some as recent as John Belushi), and of course the field itself.

This isn't a criticism of Mildred or the points made in that section of the video; it just made me think of a polar opposite situation.
