Formed in Dublin, 1969; Thin Lizzy are heralded as one of the finest hard rock bands to ever grace stages around the word. Whenever I come to this band I am always filled with joy. They were so unpretentious and seemed to celebrate being alive. Plus their tunes are so profoundly beautiful they transcend time and trends.

I had the great fortune to see Thin Lizzy live and meet Phil on several occasions in the 70s. Always loved this love song to his daughter. Such a talented, lovely guy, gone way, way too soon. Both his daughters have grown into stunningly beautiful young ladies. Such a shame he’s not still around to see it.

One of the best from Thin Lizzy ,many children were named Sara when they heard this,,my niece was one. I believe Thin Lizzy were much better than U-2 .they were the first Irish band to have a top ten hit in the U.S long before U-2 , Lizzy's other hit, "I'm still in love with you" is another classic and of course Whiskey in the Jar . R.I.P Phil Lynott and R.I.P Gary Moore
bono wasn't fit to lace Phil's shoes Lizzie are among the world's best Phil was a showman and musician . only my humble opinion but bono is full of his own importance . and musically as a guitar player myself I think the musicians of Lizzy were far superior to the talents of u2

my dad introduced me to this song, so it will always hold a sentimental place in my heart. it impacted my idea of a father daughter relationship. my dad passed two years ago; a couple months after my thirteenth birthday. i miss him dearly. he was never the best dad, mostly a deadbeat but he had his moments where he did try and im forever grateful for that. he suffered with alcohol issues, so he was never a stable figure in my life but he was still something which meant more to me than the dictionary could ever put to justice. what really sucks is on his final month's he'd try to sober up and better himself. i was really proud of that. but unfortunately his purpose no longer lasted down here. i miss you dad. a lot.

For all the rockin' Lizzy were capable of, the simple songs Phil came up with are amazing. This one goes with so many simple tunes that are timeless. Listen to 'Running Back', 'Still in love with you', 'Dear Lord' , 'Dancing in the Moonlight' and 'Don't believe a Word' to name few of many, and you will appreciate his ability to touch your soul with music.
Thin Lizzy could do pretty much any kind of music, and have at least littlebit of their rock attitude in them. Stunning song this is, among many others they did.

Great song, I can remember singing while picking potatoes on my family farm, think I was 19 at the time. Didn't Brush Sheilds fire Phil from his band Skid Row, lucky Phil, he went to the UK and things eventually started to happen for him, he is very much missed here in Ireland because there was a genuineness about Phil, I recall Phil telling Gay Byrne of the long running show the Late Late Show here in Ireland that he was a bollcks! Lol
