Falling in love is one of the best feelings one man can have. I watch this video once a week so every week I fall in love with Stevie just like I did when I was 14 years old. The voice the face the hair those eyes.

Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Terri Nunn (Berlin), Nancy Wilson (Heart), Blondie... BUT there is only one Stevie... the QUEEN of Rock and Roll. God Bless her.
She's used the same two ladies on background vocals since the very start of her solo career. They record with her on every song and they've performed with her on every concert tour. You will notice that on every song Stevie records, she layers her own voice in the background several times over in different octaves and harmonies. She is a master at molding her voice and singing background on just about every song she records. Obviously, while live in concert, she cannot do that. So, those amazing ladies (Sharon Celani & Lori Perry) do an outstanding job on background vocals during Stevie's concerts.
Best performance by a female rocker. The voice needs no further accolades. The music deserves all the praise it ever received. For me it's in her eyes where there is no pretence, where her authenticity, where all her life experiences come alive.
This is definitely up there in the very best, but there's a very specific live performance of her singing Rhiannon from the mid 70s I cant find anymore and the last five minutes of the song are just her absolutely tearing it the fuck up, whipping around like crazy, electrified, belting out the lyrics so hard her voice cracks and ending in one of the most incredible vocal holds I've ever heard. Unreal
Man, I can’t believe Stevie Nicks is 72 yo. It blows my mind that the best talent in music are as old as my earliest memories of my grandparents. Talk about a generation gap. Wow!
It makes me happy to know that Rock & Roll is alive and well in the youth of today. All you need now is a daily dose of The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Keep Rockin'
@@jimi.joplin7287 it makes me sad that rock isn't the same though. the 70s were different. we may still have rock, alive and well, but music like this isn't made as often anymore. present day rock that has this sound is rare to find :(( bring the 70s back!!!! the 90s killed it!!!
The fact that she performed on the 50th season premier of “Saturday Night Live” last month shows just how influential she still is to all generations of fans & how beloved a performer she is.
I've been suffering from the most severe depression for almost 25years, I am a drummer of 40years and I've been practicing to these songs and have found it to be great therapy, these are the songs that stire the soul, absolutely brilliant 🥇🤓🙈🙉🙊🌼
Only Jesus Christ can help u with your severe depression. Call on Him, repent of your sin ask Him to help you Ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart. After that get that demon out of your life once and for all. ( Depression) hope this helps ❤️
That's great to hear Graham. I've suffered depression a few of times and around three years each period, and whilst it hasn't happened now for over ten years I still recall how debilitating it can be. Yep this is a great song and I imagine something quite great to play on drums. The drumming in this track is excellent. Keep playing, find new songs to play and never give up. Drums are the heartbeat of our souls . Best wishes
First saw Stevie with Fleetwood Mac on their 1977 tour. She performed a Mac classic, "Hypnotized" in her trademark black dress and top hat. The crowd, me included, was truly "hypnotized" by her amazing talent. I still can't hear that song without recalling that incredible performance.
I heard this on the radio this week, and I hadn't heard it in ages. Such a powerful song, and the audience's reaction shows how much meaning it has to them.
I'm 74 and cannot watch these early performances of Stevie without feeling 20 again and she thrills the heart now and forever~!!! I always thought "Waddy" never got the recognition he deserved by always being there for her with some fine guitar playing to accent her talents. Rock On Waddy~!!!
Amen on feeling 20 again.. LOL.. and as for Waddy. well I kind of think Waddy made his own destiny,. He has played with EVERyone. Stevie.. Linda Rondstadt . Keith.. and more.. Waddy is the guitar hero to the guitar hero's.. He always had the recognition of the who's who of music. First time I saw Waddy was in toronto with Linda R. I think it was 71.. the man is a legend for sure. If you play you know how hard it is to play that same beat and in person these guys do this song for a lot longer and he never misses a step.. wow..
She's so captivating. At about 4:18 she's so emotional it looks like she wants to cry as if this story she's singing was a deep personal experience for her. And at the end the amount of flowers she's receiving from so many people is amazing. I think the audience knows they're witnessing something rare and special. Shes the Queen of Rock.
I had to watch the whole video over and over after I read your comment, then I spotted her saying "Thank You!" to the audience @ 6:32. Yeah I've always seen her as an intoxicating beauty, I drew charcoal portraits of her in the 90's, those drawings paid the rent. Take care, Brother of Rock ! ...edit, that "Thank You" seems to be expressed inward.
@@nethaliabeyasinghe1458 I didn't notice that. However, I have seen fans give entertainers a few flowers and gifts before but never that much. Rare woman and entertainer.
@@gregoryhagen8801 it was also heavily inspired by the death of her uncle, and the title "edge of seventeen" was taken from when Stevie met Tom Petty's wife, and her accent made "age of seventeen" sound like "edge of seventeen", and Stevie loved how it sounded, so she asked if she could make a song called Edge of Seventeen

The stars lined up for me when this song came out. I was 17 and just about to go and serve my country. I was stationed on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, a nuclear carrier and for some reason the ships on board tv system got MTV, which was basically brand new at the time. And they played a lot of Edge of 17. And I fell in love with Stevie. We were out in the middle of Atlantic ocean dealing with Iran and we spent 94 days straight off of Lebanon. This was before women were allowed on the ships. And to have this new entertainment which every young man loved... well it was a special time. Still to this day my knees buckle when I hear Stevie's voice. She made a fan for life.
I love it! What a story… thank you for taking me there.. a nostalgic yet epic moment in your life. Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
Ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
And the days go by, like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own, I begin again
Said to my friend, baby (everything stopped)
Nothin' else mattered
He was no more than a baby then
Well he seemed broken-hearted
Something within him
But the moment that I first laid
Eyes on him, all alone
On the edge of seventeen
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Well, I went today
Maybe I will go again tomorrow
Yeah yeah, well, the music there
Well, it was hauntingly familiar
Well, I see you doing what I try to do for me
With the words from a poet and a voice from a choir
And a melody, and nothing else mattered
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
The clouds never expect it when it rains
But the sea changes colours
But the sea does not change
So with the slow, graceful flow of age
I went forth with an age old desire to please
On the edge of seventeen
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Well, then suddenly there was no one
Left standing in the hall, yeah, yeah
In a flood of tears
That no one really ever heard fall at all
Well, I went searchin' for an answer
Up the stairs and down the hall
And not to find an answer
Just to hear the call
Of a nightbird singing, "Come away"
(Come away, come away)
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
Ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song, sounds like she's singing
I said ooh, baby, ooh, said ooh
Well I hear you in the morning
And I hear you at nightfall
Sometimes to be near you
Is to be unable to feel you, my love
I'm a few years older than you
(I'm a few years older than you) my love
Just like the white winged dove

That back up singer and Stevies's voices sound amazing together!!
Back up singer is her sister.
Sister in law
the back up singer on the 5 minute-ish mark is not her sister in law Lori, it's Sharona, Sharon Celani.
Who ever. The ladies singing back up are incredible
An unbelievable performance by the whole band and backup singers.
I saw her at hyde park 12 July 2024, she still has it, an absolute icon. Thank you so much for a truly incredible experience. A true Goddess

Best performance by a female rocker. The voice needs no further accolades. The music deserves all the praise it ever received. For me it's in her eyes where there is no pretence, where her authenticity, where all her life experiences come alive.
One of the best, don't forget Heart, Joan Jett, Cindy Lauper, The Breeders and Varuca Salt.
Unreal

All these years and I keep coming back to this performance. She is on fire and in total sync with her band. This was a special performance.
