Your face is the face of a person at a Phish show.....Trey melted your face!! " And this guitar is gonna fuck your face 'Cause it knows how to scream"....
My buddy and I were at this one and the night prior. Sitting Mike’s side out front for 11/30 was such a great experience. On the surface the show seemed pretty normal but the energy and playing that night was top notch. Got some goosebumps hearing this again. Took me back to a time before the world got crazy and it felt good.
I love watching your reactions to amazing music!!! Phish's lighting guy is Chris Kuroda they call him CK5 because he's the 5th member of the band. It's all part of the experience. Hopefully I'll catch u at a cpl shows this summer.
For most Phish fans, I feel like we’ve come to know the catalog like the back of our hand, and the reactions we have to these songs become almost like muscle memory after seeing the band so many times. But to see you experience your first Hood is so genuine and beautiful to watch. This is a special band like no other. Enjoy the ride. Thank you for this.
Now you guys know how us Tool fans feel and why we religiously pursue new Tool reactions😂 I can never hear those songs for the first time again but I can relive it through somebody else I can't get enough of it
Wow! I've been going to see Phish for about 27 years and it is so much fun to watch someone react to all of the changes, solos, lights, crowd, etc. You get it, my friend. ⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕
Trey's smile lights up an entire building. This is such an amazing Hood. Can't wait for you to see your first show- it will change your life. The only band I know whose music makes grown men cry simply because it's just SO. INCREDIBLY. BEAUTIFUL. "If you're ever sad, just remember- the Earth is 5 billion years old, and you are lucky enough to be alive at the same time as Phish."
I wish there was archival footage ,but I first saw Phish on the HORDE festival in 1993 in Richmond Virginia . Bands from Blues Traveler ,Widespread Panic, Col. Bruce Hampton and Aquarium Rescue Unit, Big Head, and a slew full of others, came on stage for the encore of Phish’s for You Enjoy Myself. It was magic .
You make me relive phish for the first time every time I watch you watch phish for the first time! You convey how phish makes me feel in better words than I have ever been able to express it. The amazement, awe, inspiration, love. When you do make it to your first show--I hope I am blessed to meet you there and enjoy groovin' to a few songs with you! People like you, who appreciate the musicianship and the vibe--and absorb and exponentially amplify it--are why I keep coming back for more. Appreciate your vids too!
I was at this show, Phish was playing that THX theme all night trolling the audience. I wasn't really a fan of phish but this hood changed everything. One of the all time greatest moments i'll ever see live, long may they run
Jamel nailed this reaction, it was a joy to watch. You really “get it” with Phish and the Grateful Dead. Hope to see you next time Phish plays at the PHorum!
I've never seen him say this song/band sucks. I'm not talking about Phish. None of the reaction people ever don't like a song and that makes them less believable to me.
Jamel, I really appreciate your joy and enthusiasm in expressing how the music hits you. Phish are just phenomenal and this song is one of their best I was weeping at the end. One thing I love about their chemistry is they always contribute to the whole rather than dominate their part and it creates a particular Phish-blend that exceeds the sum of the parts and is uniquely their own sound. Thanks!
Jamel, man... great video. You totally get this stuff, and it's an absolute delight to watch as you discover each of these gems. Like you said, it's all about that joy.
Harry was the mascot for Hood Milk. He lived in the refrigerator, so the band asks, "where do you go when the lights go out?" Aka when the refrigerator is closed. That was like watching one of your favorite movies for the 100th time just to enjoy someone watching it for their 1st. Thank you from a long time Phish phan. Super fun watching you feel good about Hood!
Man. This show in providence was the last phish show I attended, after years of following them around, before the pandemic. This is the first time I’ve listened to this Hood since being at the show, and watching this video did something to me. It’s almost like I forgot what this band did for my life for a little bit. Can’t wait to get back out there, thanks Jamel.
I love this video... reminds me of how i felt 25 years ago when i was at my first phish show and realized i had NO IDEA what i was witnessing, but realizing at the same moment that i just had just discovered the most amazing thing imaginable.
Dude! I've watched both of your phish reactions, love them. I offered before... I take all my friends to their first Phish show. I'll extend the offer to you as well. Next time they are in LA, i'll take you. You gotta see them live. It's a whole nother world!
Jamel + Phish is an instant view from me! Let’s do this! Just wanted to edit this comment and say: that was such a pure reaction, Jamel! I LOVED IT. You sure can feel good about Hood brotha! 🤘🏻❤️⭕️💙
Love the reaction! I'd definitely checking out some older shows - there may not be video, but the audio is there! Their shows in the Hampton Coliseum in 97 are legendary! Classic songs (not necessarily from those shows) include Slave the the Traffic Light, You Enjoy Myself, Reba, The Curtain (With). Some of my personal favorites are their cover of Life on Mars (a Bowie song) from the Clifford Ball, their 40 minute cover of Roses are Free (a Ween song), their cover of the entire Remain in Light album by the Velvet Underground (Phish is one of the best cover bands ever, in addition to writing amazing original music). Originals I love also include Roget, Billy Breathes, Piper, Ghost, Wading in a Velvet Sea, The Horse/Silent in the Morning, NICU, Strange Design, Limb by Limb, Guyute, and anything from the Gamehenge saga, as well as so many more! Something you don't say flat out, but by your reaction I think you're picking up on, is that Phish are the absolute MASTERS of building and releasing tension in their audience. They play in a way that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable for bit, and ratchet it up to a degree, then explode with chords and riffs that let all that tension out, and make you feel relieved and happy and almost delirious! It's why I've loved them for 25 years, and seen them 60+ times - they know how to write songs and play songs that emotionally move their audience musically!
Literally got so much joy just watching you have this experience and knowing exactly how it feels! I get goose bumps watching this! I laughed with pure joy! Speaking of goose! Please watch madhuvan by goose! Or any of the songs from gooses ATL show in November
@@face4radio That's what I love about phish. They write sick reggae or funk intros, then they move on and play some damn wacky Tom and Jerry cartoon music, and then bring it on home by jamming a progression to its euphoric peak lol if you have patience to go through all of the twists and turns of a song like Harry Hood, you are DEFINITELY paid off by the end of it. I love seeing music lovers experience that for the first time.
Yes! Thank you Jamel! I hope you can spread some more Phish and The Dead to more reaction channels, as I know a few of them look up to you and the songs you post.
Loved this reaction. Your commentary is always spot on and your insight is deep and inspiring. Gladly took the plunge with Phish over 25 years ago. Their individual and cumulative musical intelligence is staggering. If I may, I would like to recommend two of my favorites...Fee 8/10/1996 Alpine Valley, WI and Julius 10/31/94 Glens Falls, NY. Enjoy!
Awesome reaction. My first show was 9/21/89, I had never heard of or heard them prior to that, and had just gone to my first Dead show that summer, deep in the Phil Zone, also without having heard them before, both concerts were eye openers that changed my life for the positive more than just about anything else, my son's birth takes the top spot Gender unknown until he arrived...It's little mysteries/surprises like those that make life so wonderful, Your videos remind me of that lesson so I thank you for that. I'm tempted to suggest you stop listening to Phish until you go see them so you can have that experience but sounds like you already got it. Keep spreading that positivity, you have touched many people's lives thru your enthusiasm and exuberance, world needs more people like you to remind us to be good to one another....WWJaJD....jam out with his smile out
So that sound at the end if the THX sound. Page was playing it randomly throughout the night as a Thanks to the Phans as it was Thanksgiving weekend haha.
Every Phish show is a sensory overload for your receptors. The boys in the band do the audio to the nth degree and Chris Kuroda stuns your retinas and life is good. Really, really good.
Trying to keep up with the transitions within a Phish song, specifically if you’ve never heard it before, can be difficult, but definitely keeps you rooted in the feel of the music! Trey’s compositions can be complex, but always accessible!!
You're the man Jamal. You're a good dude. Your mind is open. Your soul is open and running rampant brother. We love you. Stay cool my man. Stay open and stay positive. Your vibration is at a good frequency and there's alot of room to push higher furthur faster and stronger. You can feel good, good, good about hood! One love brother man
This band is literally an Allstar cast! The band is tremendously talented both as individuals and as a group. The BoH is a dream team. CK5 is one of the best in the business. The team at Live Phish are literally pioneers of reproducing the magic with film and tape. The fanbase is legit insane! Their reach is incredible… watch an NFL game… they’re everywhere and nowhere at the same time! I consider myself very lucky to exist at the same time as this band! ⭕️ 🎣
100% understated camera crew. The music speaks for itself but the production value on the recording brings you into the live experience just a little bit...which is just enough for anyone who's been part of the live experience.
I’m going to see them for the first time on New Year’s Eve at monosodium glutamate arena. Curveball was going to be the first time I saw them. That left me distraught. I’ve been listening to them since 1998 when I was 14 and I remember the first time I heard Reba and recognized the chorus because my sister was listening to them since 1995. There’s gonna be a lot of tears of joy.
Thank you for taking time to understand the complexity of the music. I transitioned from Grateful Dead to Phish through my love of extemporaneous jazz. Think Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk. So glad you're sharing the groove. Love your videos. ⭕💙⭕ Thank you for bringing joy into my day.
Sooooo glad you’re reacting to Phish! Harry Hood is my favorite Phish tune. It’s the bliss for me! Hope you get to see them soon. Being there is the ultimate!
Dude! At about 17:23 the camera man goes to a 14 year old boy with long hair on the rail as you say “my family”. Well, that is my son, I’m right behind him. I guess welcome to the family! Earlier in the show Trey bent down and gave him his pick. An amazing evening! Your joy is infectious!
I was there, on the Floor for this night! It was phenomenal. Probably one of the top 5 shows I’ve seen, out of 50. Love these videos man, thank you for the content and keep it up! 🤘🤘
Dude they just canceled the NYE MSG run due to covid, so we expect them to go live on NYE with an old show from start to finish, go follow their page and hit the notification so you’ll know when they go live
How you pointed out Trey smiling at the audience. He's talked how he will pick a member of the audience out, and their dancing will influence his groove. I'm the type of person that likes to be on the fringes, away from all the people, but standing in that sweet spot, where it feels like he's staring at you (even if he isn't) is just mind blowingly good. The other thing that this reminds me of, is being at this song on a hot summer night with a cool rain coming down. It was like a religious experience, just letting the rain and the music wash over you.
Could you imagine being THE person Trey picked out, but you were so spun and fucked on shrooms that you started to realize that the music would change as you moved and you had an existential panic attack? Awesome. Classic Phish.
Man!! Great reaction video Jamel! I was all up in my feelings wraping christmas gifts. Then i played this video and thought, Damn I am blessed to have seen HOOD live a bunch of times. And that really cheered me up. So many blessings, once you start counting them up.❤
Music CAN make you feel good. I’m glad beyond explanation that he gets that about it. For example, I have always maintained that the Went Gin physically makes you feel better. I wasn’t there, but that version (even on tape) elicits a physiological response. Incredible!
Don't worry about any fancy ways to describe music, just do you my brother! You get it, and we see you get it, and that's what matters. Peace and love from Michigan!
Thank you so much!!! I get so much joy 🤩 watching you react to all music and especially the Phans. Makes my heart sing. Thank you!!!!! Happy Holidays. Welcome to the pham. 😊⭕️
If you wanna hear some more phish tunes I’d recommend a good “Ghost”. It’s a classic and the jams can really take off. Funky stuff. Although, of course, anything you can find on UA-cam will be a whole lotta fun. Spread the joy. Keep up the good work man.
Also! One of the coolest shows I attended was tickets up behind the stage. It was crazy seeing the lights and reactions from the band's POV. Chris Kuroda and the whole tech crew are complete wizards.
Dude, if you enjoyed watching that then you would absolutely love seeing them live. I feel like you would have a great experience at a Phish show and hope you go see them next time they are nearby. You won't regret it!!!!
Love the Phish action! Great version of their song Taste from 07-22-1997 at Walnut Creek worth checking out on the UA-cam as well. You can hear a thunderstorm going on in the background during the piano solo. Peace and love.
We all saw this coming. It is impossible to dive as deeply as you did into classic rock and not end at Phish and the Dead. They are the pinnacle of a four-piece rock band.

I really needed this tonight. Great song, fun reaction
I love you man! You have a great ear and heart. I am glad this music brings you so much joy.
I love when a father can share live Phish with their son. Connection through music is DEEP and to experience that with your kid is awesome
Great reaction and choice, was there that night and this Hood was an instant wow!
This is my mew favorite song for the moment. Ive always loved Harry Hood but your reaction is priceless. Feels good to live vicariously through you.
I was there, on the Floor for this night! It was phenomenal. Probably one of the top 5 shows I’ve seen, out of 50. Love these videos man, thank you for the content and keep it up! 🤘🤘
Glad you found the wave with all the phish in it. It’s fun it’s beautiful. It’s a wonderful ride!
Dude they just canceled the NYE MSG run due to covid, so we expect them to go live on NYE with an old show from start to finish, go follow their page and hit the notification so you’ll know when they go live
I was at this show and forgot just how spectacular this Hood was. Fine choice you made here - you can feel good good, good about Hood! ☺✌
NICU for another reggae/ska Phish song.
Jamel, you define "Good Human". Love your positivity and insight. The world needs more Jamels.
Chris Kuroda, the lighting guy, is just brilliant. And he has to be ready to improvise right along with the band.
Man!! Great reaction video Jamel! I was all up in my feelings wraping christmas gifts. Then i played this video and thought, Damn I am blessed to have seen HOOD live a bunch of times. And that really cheered me up. So many blessings, once you start counting them up.❤
Phish is the band that makes me believe we can change the world through the power of music!!
Like most other Phish songs, no two Hoods are alike but the one constant is the peak. There is nothing better in life than a Hood peak. Pure Bliss!!
I love geeking out on the technical aspects of Phish, but in the end it’s about how they make you feel
Thank you so much!!! I get so much joy 🤩 watching you react to all music and especially the Phans. Makes my heart sing. Thank you!!!!! Happy Holidays. Welcome to the pham. 😊⭕️
My god the release at 16:40 always gets me so emotional. This is one of the best. Greatest band on earth. Loved seeing your reaction!
Love watching you reactions to the band it’s great. Seeing live is another level and experience it’s euphoria. Hope you see them one day
If you wanna hear some more phish tunes I’d recommend a good “Ghost”. It’s a classic and the jams can really take off. Funky stuff. Although, of course, anything you can find on UA-cam will be a whole lotta fun. Spread the joy. Keep up the good work man.
The one from Dayton 2017 is a real humdinger.
fantastic. one of my faves, was at this show in RI. Glad you enjoyed it
Dude, I just like you. Thanks for the good vibes brother ✌🏽❤️
ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
They take this Hood jam out for a little stroll. Love it. Hope to see you at a show someday; you'll have a blast. Your reactions make my day.
Man, I can not WAIT until you finally see a Phish show, and what you have to say about it after you do!
No buddy does it like Phish. Jon Fishman by the way is the best guy in the band. He never misses a show. I love love love watching him.
U got blown away by Dead and Company, time to take it further by going to see Phish.
why make it a competition? Clearly he enjoys both bands.
@@marksherrick I never said it was a competition. I said if he wants to go further down the rabbit hole of being completely blown away.
Love the Phish action! Great version of their song Taste from 07-22-1997 at Walnut Creek worth checking out on the UA-cam as well. You can hear a thunderstorm going on in the background during the piano solo. Peace and love.
Page kills it on that one. I was there. :)
That was my first phish show
Omg my favorite taste of all time
I love guitars that sound like they have a voice. This one was singing quite a fine groove!!
Check out the video of "Trey Anastasio's guitar rig". He show cases all the sounds he has at his disposal.
Yes. Like guitars that are voice. And Like A whole story.
We all saw this coming. It is impossible to dive as deeply as you did into classic rock and not end at Phish and the Dead. They are the pinnacle of a four-piece rock band.
So glad that you chose this. Had a hunch that you might dig it.
We are loving this song just like you are!! 🤟
Bravo! Claps! Bring on the P-Fish and I will be here!
The moment after "thank you Mr Hood" is one of the most wonderful things to experience live.
All that said, Phish does have some awesome studio tracks. It's beautiful to see it live, but it's nice to hear it nice and tight sometimes.
Nothing like a Phish show my guy! And my god 90’s Phish was a whole different level!
Jamel, all I gotta say is...you da man.
I love this jam. So much energy.
The build to the peak of EVERY Harry Hood will deliver that same joy to the the listener. You can feel good.

Being there live WAS a incredible Jamel! Excited for you to experience a show some day
Jamel, your reaction to Phish was the same as mine. Mine was in 89. They are talented guys.
