I got free tickets to see them back in the early 90’s. I reluctantly went to the concert. I was like Phish?!? Yeah right! I never heard a song by them too. I was so wrong! It was hands down one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. It was at Red Rocks Colorado too! And I’ve been a Phish fan ever since then. Thanks for your review. So it became his trademark- part of what makes Phish so fun, funny, whimsical, and such a collection of "in jokes". It's true. He actually looks weird, to me, without the dress. We saw them one time and Fishman was wearing a black Izod shirt, tucked into, like, chino pants, and he looked ridiculous. Ironic he looks weird when he looks normal. Far as we fans are concerned, he could wear a pink tutu, the way he plays those tubs. Like a preying mantis.
It was Trey that insisted Jon wear it as often as possible. Jon thought is was a one off funny thing to do but the next night Trey was like, where’s the moo moo?? Jon didn’t think it was a thing but Trey had something else in mind haha. Those two have a special bond inside the amazing bond that is Phish. So grateful these guys came together🙏🏻

JAMEL!!!! MY BROTHER! Watching you watching phish brings me so much joy!! This is what it is all about. I absolutely love your take on music, life and love! You've now seen two different sides of Phish! The absolute funk groove that is Tube, The deep, dark, winding, peaking madness that is Maze. I would love for you to see yet another side of Phish. The slow, beautiful, melodic, blissful side! This song, Slave to the Traffic Light, is an absolute Phan Phavorite and one that will bring tears to your eyes! @ THANK YOU for keeping great music alive!!
Sept. 29, 1990 - 23 East Cabaret, Ardmore, PA....... my first time seeing Phish, very small club probably about 50 people and the stage was only 3 inches off the floor. I stood in front of Trey and just watched him play
@@Andriig75 hope you’re being sarcastic. My friend from high school is in the hospital with COVID and his family is excited that he improved enough that he was able to walk down the hall, but sure, there’s no pandemic
the "pandemic" wont end till the government has full control over your life, your business and your home. Obey your leaders, question nothing and keep wearing your mask like good little sheep. Next year COVID will mutant into another strain, just like the common flu. Will you be staying home locked indoors next year as well? The funny thing is, Phish heads and the people alike...used to be against government intervention into your life. Funny how Trump derangement syndrome has cause people to do a complete 180 turn on their old values. In other words, you'll never get out of this Maze, you'll never get out of this Maze, you'll never get out of this Maze
I Am LOVING Your Phish reactions, brutha!!! There are few things that I’ve come across in life that are much better than watching the expressions on the face of somebody “getting it”!! Spread Love!
Great job! It DOES sound like a cartoon at the end😆🤣 Maze turns EVERYONE on to Phish - if only they played it on the radio! "Maze" is the first dream on the concept album "Rift", which documents a dude's end of day and entire night's sleep...you should do a reaction to the whole record!!! Thanks for letting it go for that crazy jam. That's one of the longest Maze organ solos ever - '97 was a magical, MONSTROUS year for this band.
can wait to feel that feeling again this was a good reminder of the fun we are missing out on but still totally enjoyed it. half the fun of phish is the reactions! keep up the good work !
I just absolutely love and adore your phish videos. You are the man and I hope I get to party with you at some shows. You are hilarious and the reaction from someone who hasnt lived this for 30 years is priceless.
This is really fun watching your reaction to Maze. Def a masterpiece. In 97 I was 16, two years before my first show. Phish is one of my fave bands and can get me feeling like I did back then. Keep rocking!
Many deadhead I am friends with hate on them....it's trendy for them to...after listening to them rip on Phish for years, it's almost comical to me at this point lol
@@DigDigDig It's true. Most people think Deadheads and Phishheads are of the same ilk...but, a lot of Deadheads HATE Phish. I manage to love them both...but lets face it, other then the fact that they are jambands, they are apples and oranges. The Dead is sorta psychedelic Americana, and though they definitley dabbled in alot of rock/blues/ type fusion, Phish are straight-up fusion cats. Overschooled? probably, but they don't sound mechanical. They reinvented "the pocket"
I’ve always told people that going to a phish concert is very similar to having a religious experience! Lol every friend I’ve taken to a show that wasn’t into the band before, all wanted to go to another show! love the reaction man, keep em coming!
Well, that was freakin’ incredible. No two Phish concerts are ever the same, but you’re virtually 100% guaranteed to see something amazing. No telling what. If I saw this performance I would feel like whatever I paid for my ticket was justified.
If you want to get a good sense of their ability to stretch in this decade, check out Magnaball (it's a festival, 2015) Tweezer > Prince Caspian :) it's 36 minutes total but it's a great glimpse into just how far they can stretch on basic musical riffs - keep on reacting! These are great
Possibly my all-time favourite Phish jam. Give me chills every time- the fact that it's so insanely tight that it sounds composed, but has SO MUCH emotion at the same time. Absolutely mind-blowing.
Honestly, I feel like Zappa would probably shit on it , if he was even aware of Phish at all before his death. I’m a huge Phish and Zappa freak, but kind of see him brushing them off. Frank also made fun of the dead and Jerry quite often.
@@deadexplorations7439 True. He hated Dead Heads and drugs. If you listen to "Teenage Wind" they straight up mock them..."I'm gonna tighten my headband up during Jerry''s solo, and get an extra RUSH"
Someone send him a great “Reba” link. One of the most beautiful composed sections Phish plays..can’t believe someone sent him Maze this early..handled it well!
@@jefflove5829 the studio jam is so tight! The perfect amount of build up. Sometimes I do feel a tinge of something missing on the live jams. The ‘93 NYE Reba comes pretty close if I recall correctly. Worth a listen!
What a great review! Phish is a tough one for a lot of people. Kind of like licorice. People tend to really love it or really hate it. I appreciate your ability to listen to the message of the lyrics while sitting through a totally shredding and dissonant rollercoaster ride of tension and release. Music is medicine! Keep up the good work, man. 🙏

This was my favorite Phish tour! 97 Rocked!
“Tension and release” It’s what’s for dinner when you’re feasting on Phish 😎
You gotta build that tension
I'm so glad when others properly explain what this is all about. Tension and release, just like all of life's greatest pleasures.
Couldn’t agree more and it’s why Harry Hood may be my favorite
JAMEL!!!!
THANK YOU for keeping great music alive!!
Love you man. So happy to see you discover Phish!!!!
Sept. 29, 1990 - 23 East Cabaret, Ardmore, PA....... my first time seeing Phish, very small club probably about 50 people and the stage was only 3 inches off the floor. I stood in front of Trey and just watched him play
Whenever this pandemic ends, we will all meet up in a lawn somewhere and dance our asses off. Surrender to the phlow!
There is no pandemic. Sorry, it's all a big nasty psyop. Groove on 😜
Yes pls
See you there!!
If you want to get into the Maze lyrics, read about the album “Rift” and all the songs on it. It’s a concept album.
you're gay
Rift is a concept album Joe, get with it and get your head out your ass.
Wedge.
love Phish, love this song especially, thanks for listening/sharing with a broader audience!
I’m so glad you’re doing Phish now.
Also, thank you for making me fall in love with music all over again.
I LOVE the smile you have when the bass hits. This is the one of the Greatest Live Songs…❤️🤘ever😊
I just subscribed to your channel because of this and the Tube reaction. I like the Zappa videos, too. Keep rockin..
I am a older man, love phish, was a kid there back then, love to see a new generation appreciate this music that blew me away back in the day........
Jamal, I have a Miracle ticket for you any show you want when Phish returns. I hope to boogie down with you!
can wait to feel that feeling again this was a good reminder of the fun we are missing out on but still totally enjoyed it. half the fun of phish is the reactions! keep up the good work !
This man needs a Reba or Hood jam.
Tahoe tweezer
Easy one is Live One Hood...
A live one Harry hood....or even just start him off with the studio Reba....still an amazing version even if its not live.
I just absolutely love and adore your phish videos. You are the man and I hope I get to party with you at some shows. You are hilarious and the reaction from someone who hasnt lived this for 30 years is priceless.
He’s about to tear it up! Loved watching you watch the intro 😂
I love how you can just see his entire body tensing up with the anticipation.
This is really fun watching your reaction to Maze. Def a masterpiece. In 97 I was 16, two years before my first show. Phish is one of my fave bands and can get me feeling like I did back then. Keep rocking!
Dude...Phish...check out the very long “Tweezer” in 4K.
You’ll finish that with your mind on fire 🔥
Im assuming youre referring to 12/30/19. almost cried during that one around the 20 minute mark. had an out of body experience in MSG that night.

@@cmillivol98 that was my Phirst show haha! Good times
@@LyteSydeShill dude same! Was 18 and drove all night there from Tennessee with my brother and sister in law. It was a great concert
97 one of the best years in Phistory. I saw them on this tour. They were on fire.
Maze!!!! I did NOT expect this one, but so glad it happened.
Phish is by far one of the best bands that will ever walk this earth
"GHOST" should be the next review. Recommend 11.17.97. Keep with the fall 97
Prague 98 Ghost would be a fun one for a reaction. So much faster paced and killer jam.
So good, so Hood! Can't go wrong with Fall '97
Seriously though.
The lyrics set the scene and the music 🎶 tells the story. A truly original one of a kind band. 🎸 🎹 🥁 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Horse/Silent In The Morning, Bouncing 'Round The Room, Mound, Cavern, Fee and more!
I’ve always told people that going to a phish concert is very similar to having a religious experience! Lol every friend I’ve taken to a show that wasn’t into the band before, all wanted to go to another show! love the reaction man, keep em coming!
Jamel, i wanna party with you at a phish show one day. peace and love brother
These are great
Absolutely
Possibly my all-time favourite Phish jam. Give me chills every time- the fact that it's so insanely tight that it sounds composed, but has SO MUCH emotion at the same time. Absolutely mind-blowing.
Love this band makes people open up across the spectrum. As a fan of 30 yrs, kudos to you for your open mind…
This is genius... Frank Zappa would love it, smiling from the sky... 👍
Honestly, I feel like Zappa would probably shit on it , if he was even aware of Phish at all before his death. I’m a huge Phish and Zappa freak, but kind of see him brushing them off. Frank also made fun of the dead and Jerry quite often.
Phish have more in common with Zappa than the Dead really
@@greatquux Yeah Zappa was a huge influence on them. Listen to Fuck Your Face, for example. Could be right out of Zappa’s repertoire.
@@deadexplorations7439 True. He hated Dead Heads and drugs. If you listen to "Teenage Wind" they straight up mock them..."I'm gonna tighten my headband up during Jerry''s solo, and get an extra RUSH"
Great performance ! Thanks JAMEL,
Someone send him a great “Reba” link. One of the most beautiful composed sections Phish plays..can’t believe someone sent him Maze this early..handled it well!
The jam on Reba is my absolute favorite! The build up to the end of the jam is just amazing and beautiful!
5.8.93..best jam Eva
Can't beat the studio Reba.
Change my mind.
@@jefflove5829 the studio jam is so tight! The perfect amount of build up. Sometimes I do feel a tinge of something missing on the live jams. The ‘93 NYE Reba comes pretty close if I recall correctly. Worth a listen!
@@jefflove5829 I must have heard you wrong, your babbling, man! Studio Phish over live? Bite your tongue.
“This is crazy man”
YUP LMAOOOOOOO 🤘
Thank you for sharing and Reacting to Phish, I love that band. More importantly, thank you for your valuable message and life lesson for people, Amen!
It is so wonderful watching a clearly talented and enthusiastic musician react to my favorite band. This is 100% good-feeling content!! Thank you Jamal!!
I'm more of a Dead Head but these guys are really good. I hope to see them the next time they're in my area.
Came as a Phish fan Stayed for Jamel. That was so fun to watch him discover what we have known for decades. "He's not even looking at the crowd"..lol. Oh man...Welcome aboard.
I remember my first maze well. Those underpants were never seen again.
Ah yes, the proverbial "brown pants" we all had to walk out of our first show in. Our first "Run like an Antelope"...
I just want to say. I love having you in the family. Listening to and seeing your reactions. Reminds me of way and how much I love the music. Thank you brotha and again welcome to the family 😎✌🌻
So happy and funny when he noticed Fishman in a dress!
