The biggest problem I have here is Rosetta stoned is part 2 of a 2 part song. You need to play lost keys first to understand the context, of what this man is going through.
This was definitely a mistake! We'll circle back and do this again to see how they're opinions change once they're fans! And we'll do the entire Lost Keys experience then!

This is a crazy first Tool song to show to someone but hey us gen z love weird shit and this is one of my favorite Tool songs. Maynard has such an underrated sense of humor.
The whole story starts outside area 51, The guy is thinking about religion and the chosen people while outside an area known for alien research. He takes DMT and Acid, And his trip begins with whats in his mind. All the references are from the perspective of a man who knows nothing. He left school and all his frame of reference is from Pop culture Xfiles, ET, Uncle Martin, Dave floating away in space odyssey. Sounding like peanuts parents, Is a reference to the cartoon and the wah wah sounds adults make. Due to the drug influence on the guy in the story. All of the references are from movies, TV and pop culture. It goes on to talk about Elron Hubbard's chosen people religion of scientology as it is directly connected to the concept of aliens. Even the foetal spooning and orange slices is a famous story. The guy is stoned out of his mind and thinks he has reached some sort of enlightenment. The musical instrumental was orchestrated to sound like some sort of synesthesic sound from biomechanical concentric shapes and fractals seen during DMT and drug trips.. This song goes so deep for a goof that most people have no idea how genius it is.
Guy does drugs, has crazy trip, thinks he was abducted by aliens. They tell him a message that can save humanity, but forgets what they told him because he didn't write it down. Wakes up in a hospital and tells the doctor all about it, but ends up pooping the bed. The end. Maynard is just taking the piss.

@@robertcarlyle6102 Yeah but it also means I shit the bed. DMT, Certain mushroom users and absolutely all Ayahuasca users know that one of the side effects of these psychedelics is you gotta poop or puke or both at the same time.
There are also a lot of references to conspiracy theory tropes from a very tongue-in-cheek viewpoint; the phonebooth outside of Area 51, L. Ron Hubbard, and I'm guessing "Bob help me" is a reference to the doctrine of the Church of the SubGenius.
The peak of the crescendo is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've ever heard. I well up every time, and i've been listening to it on and off for the past 15 years.
Part of the curse of being a master like Justin Chancellor is getting mistaken by the average person for being "the guitarist," be it through his lines, or his effects. His bass playing was the only instrumental part not referenced, in spite of it being just as important as the rest. The curse of the bass guitarist, I suppose!
i love how they didn't talk as much towards the end, realizing what they were listening to. They were both being called by the tool army. someday soon lol
