Great review! Just picked one up basically because of you haha. I live in Houston and you’d be surprised how often a jacket like this can get used in the winter. One thing I hate is wearing a puffy and then getting into a car with the heat on. I get hot immediately and it drives me crazy! I feel like this hoodie will breath enough to where I don’t have to constantly be taking off my jacket and what not. I rock climb in Austin but there’s no way I’m climbing in a $300 jacket LOL I will use my throw down
there are alot of products arcy needs to bring back, Acrux fl approach shoes, the dually belay, the original cerium sv.. thank you for an up close look at these pieces
This video was more of a comparison between the proton LT and the Atom LT than a comparison between the Proton LT and the Proton FL. Comparing the Proton LT to the Proton FL, which one is warmer, and which one is more breathable? Thank you in advance.
Tangentially, is anyone else experiencing choppiness on this video? Lots of green screen splices and stuttering? I tested with other videos, so I'm sure this is an issue unique to this video.
I’m with you on both of these jackets, they are my favs! The Octoloft in the FL is very similar to Polartec’s Alpha Active fabric, super soft, super breathable, super warm, highly wicking, compressible, super lightweight, what’s not to love? I will frequently wear a Polartec Alpha Active Direct top as a baselayer underneath the FL for high activities when it’s in 30’s with low wind, quite amazing how warm and dry I am with such little weight.
Thank you for the video. Do you find the FL to be wind resistant enough? Thats my only fear. I more want it as a mid layer for snow or single layer for active cooler days (40f ish). I have an atom leaf lt and beta lt as well but dont really have a breathable lightweight layer.
This is a very breathable jacket, the fabric is very air permeable. It feel the cool wind through the jacket. It's soft, and it's a nice insulation when it's not too cold out, but in the wind... not very warm at all. But, that is how it is designed. It's meant for higher output activities, where you are generating heat, and it allows for the hot air to escape, and self regulate with the outside air. If it's windy our, I like my gamma (SL), lightweight over it. great jacket, but I like it as a stand alone piece if there is no wind, or if it's not very cold out. I just did a review of the Norrona Octa jacket. It's very similar with a more wind resistant face fabric. But it does have fleece panels along the sides and down the sleeves. I will have a video comparing it to the Ptoton FL, and the Atom SL within the next few days.
Yes, I just tried on that combination. The Proton LT fits under the Solano nicely. The only thing that I noticed is that the Proton has a longer length in the back than the solano. The front length is equal, but the back on the proton is a bit longer. Not a big deal.
I don't have that one, and as I explained in this video, it is very specialized and unfortunately I don't have a use for it. But people seem to love it for snow sports. It's more of a shell than a jacket.
I wear my Proton LT under my Alpha FL skiing, would never wear my Atom, doesn't breath enough, but wouldn't wear the Atom if I need more wind protection compared to the Proton.

Love the channel. You are the king of jackets.

Congrats on 1k!!
You describe all aspects of the jackets very well. Much appreciated.
Thank you, I'm trying.

Very cool, thanks for your input!
Hope you'll do a review of the Proton Hybrid!
Congratulations for your videos. What size do you wear on the Proton LT and the Proton lightweight?
Everything is XL. Sorry, I usually try to mention that in my videos.

Hi,
Do you think the proton LT (xl) would fit under the solano jacket (xl) ?
Thank you, good day 😊
Yes, I just tried on that combination. The Proton LT fits under the Solano nicely. The only thing that I noticed is that the Proton has a longer length in the back than the solano. The front length is equal, but the back on the proton is a bit longer. Not a big deal.
I use my LT as a layering piece under my Alpha SV.
good job, Chris
What would you recommend for summer around the 60*
The Atom SL, Kyanite LT, Gamma SL, Solano. Stand alone or any combination of them.
How about the proton hybrid?
I don't have that one, and as I explained in this video, it is very specialized and unfortunately I don't have a use for it. But people seem to love it for snow sports. It's more of a shell than a jacket.
Nice
flもオクタになって良さそうですね。今度、イプシロンもお願いします。

We hit the big time now!🙂

That makes sense.🙂
