- Comparing The Arc'teryx Proton LT, Atom LT And The Nuclei FL. Three very popular synthetically insulated jackets by Arc'teryx. The Proton LT, Atom Lt, and the Nuclei FL are very similar, but yet very different. We take a look at what makes these light weight hoodies so special and unique to each other.

I gotta say man you make the best reviews. Pure authenticity and I like how you get excited about little things. Don't change and keep going
Thank You! 🙂
Love your laid back videos with your honest approach and opinions. I too love Arcteryx Im slowly building my collection! Cheers man.
It's very addictive! You buy one, then you want another, then a few more....
Great video Chris, I'm 18 and I love the mountains and arcteryx. Your videos are great, it's like my dad giving me advice
Thanks, I'm glad the channel helps you out. Subscribe if you haven't already. :)
We like it as it is!! Great video , very helpful . Happy new year by the way 😊. Wishing you all the best for 2023
Thank you, Happy New Year to you as well!
another fantastic vid, u get my sub
i wear these jackets as a way to keep my shell off my skin
and dont let any heat exchange with the outside happen
that nuclei fl looks like a warm hug
i need a daily driver here in canada and i think your vid showed exactly which was the right one
keep it up
I own all three. The Nuclei is in my pack during winter hikes/climbs and as summer time backpacking piece if it will be wet or windy. Great piece. Atom is a daily drive outside of deep winter (Where I use a Thorium AR). Proton is great for cold climbs but almost too warm for winter high output.
They are three great jackets!
thx buddy to show the warmth differences and the ability against wind'chill'. was helpful for my needs as an hiker...i will consider the proton lt. have to compare with the rab xenair Alpine (light) hooded jacket... I wish you the best for the new year buddy. Frenkie
Watched two videos of yours so far, attempting to compare the Atom and the Beta LT for my first investment into an Arc'teryx jacket. You've helped tremendously. I appreciate the detail and your real-life opinions. Subscribed. Keep up the excellent work, brother. 👊🔥
Thank you for your support. I'm glad that the videos help you.🙂
Just the comparison I was looking for!
Just got an Atom AR and Thorium AR on a great deal , now I want the Nuclei. Nice review.
Nice, you'll enjoy wearing them. The Nuclei FL is great too. It's a lighter jacket than the other two, would be better for times when it's cold, but not freezing when you would wear the others.
Me and my jackets it's what I like!!! Right there with you buddy🤣💯🙌🙌🙌 always a good time, got my dad watching you now
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Another great video, Chris. It all makes sense. For the same weight, the more breathable, the less warm the jacket is, and vice versa. A general question, if I may. How do you find hoodies that are helmet compatible? When you're not wearing a helmet, do you find them too bulky or funny looking when you use the hoody?
I bought my first Atom LT today, I’m so excited!
Cool, I'm sure that you will love it!
Very informative video! Thank you sir
I got both Nuclei FL & SV about a month ago and have been impressed by far. Nuclei FL really stands out with its low weight and warmth. I love all Atoms but LT of which side panels made it too cold for me in torso and sweaty in the arms.
Protons are all great and I already miss Proton AR which was discontinued 3-4 y ago. Amazing jackets.
Nuclei SV is a winter storm beast with 190g Coreloft Continuous on the torso and dual zip.
You're right, I think that you have much of the same views as I do on these jackets. Thanks for the support!
Best youtuber with the best videos. Agree with your opinions 100%.
You should do a comprehensive video on proper cleaning and dos/donts with all these jackets including the goose down options
I am planning to do that video soon.
I own all three + other arc teryx jackets but if I had to choose one, that would be the nuclei fl. I still can't believe how a jacket could be so warm, durable comfortable and so freakin light. I travel a lot and has never left my luggage. I love it so much that I'm considering getting another colour.
I get it, I own two.... the yellow one and a green one. Only because I wanted the green (Paradigm) originally and it went out of stock before I could buy it. So I bought the yellow. But about a year later the green popped up in the outlet, so I couldn't resist... Also because I liked the jacket a lot, I didn't mind having two!🙂
Thank you, really helpfull. Greetings from Germany.
I think we all need to climb a clacier one day, though we have non in Australia
🙂🙂
Super valuable information!
Thank you. Hope it helps
@@meandmyjackets super helpful. Hit every aspect that I want to know before spending money on these. Your video deserves more recognition.
Hey there! and a happy new year!
Would you recommend the atom lt while hiking with a backpack?
Cheers
Sure, it can be worn by itself, or as an insulating layer.
Thanks a lot! Was a bit worried the garment would wear out
Happy NEW YEAR ✨🎉🎊
Happy New Year!
Hi Chris. Been seen your videos a lot and they have been very usefull!
I bought the levon winter weight and your review had a really important part on the decision, thanks a lot.
Wanted to ask you, in your experience could I fit a ATOM lt size M under a ALPHA Ar size S?
It will be the leaf atom gen 2 and the leaf alpha lt gen 2 but for reference I think the normal version is helpfull, since I haven't seen leaf products in your videos.
It's just to get an ideia.
Already bought the atom and am cheking the alpha.
Thanks!
Maybe ok. I haven't tried that exact combo, but the alpha sv is cut much bigger. You will have to try it.
Thanks for talking the time, really apreciated!
I have the atom leaf lt size M and its amazing, now waiting for the alpha leaf lt size S to arrive.
I havent seen any reviews on the LEAF line, it would be interesting.
Congrats for your channel and best of luck!
@@user-qw7rj7ls2k Thank you.
would you suggest the Atom LT for using it as a midlayer for skiing with a hard shell on top, while also using it daily as a regular outdoor jacket?
I use it for the colder days on the mountains boarding and it’s awesome.
I own all three. Great review. 👍🏻
It's nice to have all three! They seem similar, but they are quite different.🙂
Thanks for making this video. I am in the market for Arc jackets this week. I am deciding between Atom LT and the Nuclei FL. The Kingfisher and Black Sapphire colors seem different.
Black sapphire is a dark blue.
@@meandmyjackets Thanks. Kingfisher is more of a medium blue then?
@@GokkunGuru kingfisher is a dark blue as well. But it depends on the jacket's outer fabric. I would say that kingfisher is slightly lighter.
@@meandmyjackets Thanks for your input. Very helpful in my purchase decision making.
@@GokkunGuru Awesome, glad I could help. Thanks for the support.
Hello! What you can recommend in 30-50 degrees, and just city style, some staying some activity. Atom AR?
Atom LT or SL as he stated
Is there a jacket from Arc'teryx that is light weight no fleece sides synthetic with the soft materials like the Atom LT? Or simply is there a jacket like the Atom LT with no fleece side panels?
Good question, not that I know of. The closest thing is either the proton or nuclei.
thanks, but many people say that the proton lt is also a bit warmer than the atom lt
It has 80g insulation the atom Lt is 60g. So it is a little "warmer". But it is much more breathable, so you will feel the cold wind through it more. It depends on how you use it. In layers with a shell on top. Yes it's warm. Stand alone in the cold... Not so much. High output activities is what it's made for.
5:07 - Do you mean Gamma MX or LT? I wasn't able to find a Gamma SL that's a jacket, only a pair of pants
Yes, The gamma SL jacket. I do have another video about it on my channel. Check it out. It's a lighter weight softshell, so it's typically not offered for the fall / winter season. Hopefully it will be available again in the spring. It has been a very popular jacket the last few years.
@@meandmyjackets Thanks, I have the Atom LT currently and this is exactly what I'm looking for to pair with. Hope they can get one in stock soon
How does the nuclei compare with the atom ar? Which one is warmer/more windproof?
The Atom AR will be warmer, as it has twice the insulation as the Nuclei, and it does a good job when it comes to blocking the wind. I've found that the wind is not an issue with it. The Nuclei FL is a step down in warmth , but still extremely warm for its weight, and it is totally windproof. The atom is a nice all round winter jacket for me. The Nuclei is super lightweight compared to the Atom AR. They are different. The Atom is much bulkier, with a more durable face fabric. The Nuclei is not very breathable at all, as it's designed for warmth, windproof and lightweight. I would say that my nuclei with a covert fleece under it would be as warm as the Atom AR, but then if you wear a covert under the Atom, it's going to be good for very cold conditions.
@@meandmyjackets thanks a lot 👌👌👌
How does the atom and proton compare to the Rab xenair and xenair light?
Check out my video comparing 8 synthetic insulation jackets, all of those jackets are included. ua-cam.com/video/nV0rB4W2PB0/v-deo.html The xenairs are a lot like the protons, as they are very breathable and designed for high output activities. The Atom is a more versatile jacket having fleece panels down the sides.
I also have a video comparing these 4 breathable jackets. The two xenairs and the two protons. ua-cam.com/video/6BjCxpozL5s/v-deo.html These two videos here on my channel should help answer your questions. 😀
"Me and my jackets" is perfectly grammatically correct. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand the difference between subjects and objects in the English language. My jackets and I love to make videos about "me and my jackets."
Thank You! 🙂
It’s 60gsm, 80gsm, 65gsm (grams per square meter), not the weight of the insulation in the jacket (the insulation inside is not exactly 1sqm, and then it varies with the size anyway).
You're right, I should have clarified that. I just sometimes try to keep things simple as to not confuse people. But I can see your point. Thanks for the input. I should have explained that better.
What are the best everyday Arc pants?
I don't have much when it comes to the pants. (yet) I have the gamma mx pants and the levon winterweight pants as of now. The gammas are pretty heavy great for the cold, but the levon pants are really good for everyday use as well as hiking and things like that. I like them a lot. I would also look at the gamma LT's they are very popular as well. I'll have a video out on the levons soon. Just for reference, I wore them in the video that I did on the Nuclei SV parka.
@@meandmyjackets great, thank you! This is really helpful.
@@MasterCheef00 yeah im getting the gamm lt's aswell now only heard good things about them
"Me and My Jackets" on its own is grammatically correct. "My Jacket and I ..." Only works when it's a preposition to something else.
Thank you, there has been a debate about why I named my channel "Me and my jackets". Honestly, I just liked the way it sounds.... So I stuck with it. Thanks for your support!🙂
Hey Chris I guess you have no need to correct the grammar of your channel. I interpret “me and my jackets” in a dynamic way to say “hey guys it’s all about me and my jackets.”
you own all 3, so you must be a milionaire
No, just crazy!!!🙂
The correct English is actually “my jackets and me”
My jackets and I 🙂
You need to stop wearing jeans and switch them with arcteryx pants
I'm trying to buy more pants from Arc'teryx, however they are not cheap
Hi Chris, could you suggest the right size of the proton LT for me? I wear the Atom LT in XL (older version) comfortably, and the Solano in L (I wish it were just a little bit bigger).
The proton fits very similar to the atom. So I would say go with the XL.
@@meandmyjackets Thank you Chris!
