    Hands down the best tutorial for covering cakes with fondant. Most tutorials just tell you to pick up the fondant, cover the cake and smooth it down. I appreciate Jemma and Sally for giving us information about even the tiniest detail.

    Thank you so much for this video. I finally made a wedding cake a couple of weeks ago that I was asked to make three years ago. I watched this video several times in preparation and took your advice of using madeira cake for the base. The tips on covering a cake in fondant icing really helped me to get a professional finish with no creases. The brides were very happy with their cake. So huge thank you Gemma and Sally. xx

    but does white chocolate ganache taste better than buttercream ?

    • @dallinmoravec940
      @dallinmoravec940 7 років тому +2

      depends on your preference, they are completely separate things, one is frosting made with butter and sugar and one is just chocolate lol so just whatever you like, some people use ganache because they think it is more sturdy or they can get sharper edges, but both can be used in the same way

    • @acestrella93
      @acestrella93 5 років тому

      Personally for sugar paste cake I preferred white chocolate ganache because improves also the taste, because most of the people doesn't like how the sugar paste tastes, and with the sugar of the buttercream and the sugar paste is just too sweet, so If you add de ganache you can enjoy better the whole cake not just the inside part :D well that's my opinion and my costumers :)

      It's easy to make your own, actually. Some mini marshmallows and a small bit of water, microwave in 30 second increments until it gets puffy, stir in a bunch of sifted powdered sugar, then once formed, knead with your hands until it's the right consistency for your needs.

    Not true..
    here in America Fondant can be used on just about any cake

    • @CupcakeJemma
      @CupcakeJemma  8 років тому +75

      +Kcnya Of course you can put fondant on any cake! What we're saying is that for the best results, and to minimise cracking, sinking, bulging, etc, you should choose a cake which is a bit firmer, as the softer sponge cakes, carrot cake, for example, are more likely to do all of the above.

      +CupcakeJemma so true but knowing the right application and how think or thin to make fondant helps.... some folks have theie tricks to keep from cracking etc.

    The lady on the left is constantly walking over Sally. Not in a mean way but when you've done interviews or improv you will understand what I mean. She's a good interviewer i think she just needs better timing also Sally is more on the quiet side which is probably why the lady doesn't notice she's doing so. Wonderful video and wonderful girls

      Sofia Rodriguez well, she's the owner of the shop. She knows everything that's going on so she talks a lot. She just needs someone to demonstrate it.

    Very well done ladies! Not sure if you have a video to help those who need it for covering a square cake with sugar paste. I am in love with Sally! Wow, beauty, brains and that accent!

    I thought u were rude to the girl making the cake.. You kept saying it can be done better...it was very annoying.. I thought she did fantastically.. U might be an expert but encouraging others to cook will what will make you some one worth remembering.. Or people will remember ur cakes and not u

      Jemma only said those things so that she could transition into the next tip which was elevating/designing the cake even more. As you will notice, when they were finally done with every step of the cake, she never said it could be done better.
