I was floored thru the whole process but when she done all the little piping and brushing all the tiny little details WOW & people will just dig in & eat it without even noticing the beauty of every tiny little detail. You are an artist.
I hope you were paid well for this gorgeous cake. Thank you for showing those of us who only see the end product what goes into making these beautiful works of art. ❤
What I've learned just in my personal dabbling with cake is that if you want to get a crumb coat right, you need to pipe it on and you need to apply it to excess so that you aren't relying on its grip on the cake to spread, but you are instead relying on the ability of the frosting to deflect. If you apply it too thin, then it'll always lift off of the cake and lift some crumbs along with it. What this artist showed was absolute perfection in crumb coat application. Get it on, then bring it down to the thickness you want before going in with the next coat. Another tip if you've got more time than she does, is you can chill your layer after scraping down your crumb coat and this will allow you to lay down your primary coat of buttercream without any risk of crumbs peeking through.
The joy in her voice when she started to paint her sugar gum flowers made my day lmao. Absolutely echo the other comments asking for her to be brought back-~
I learned the truth of that when I personally learned how to make them. Big eye opener. These cakes can take weeks of advance preparation and great skill to design, piece together and handle!

I don't think people realize how much time, effort and thought goes into making huge, detailed wedding cakes like this. I'm a hobby baker, but this is next level. She is an artist!
This is amazing! It's like a masterclass in cake decorating. I never knew that more sugar makes a cake stronger. I know the structural role sugar has in chocolate chip cookies, but I didn't know it extended to cakes that way. A cursory search shows that there's more to a high-ratio cake than simply adding more sugar, but I'm kind of amused that the answer to "how did you build such a tall cake?" is probably the same as the answer to "why does this cake taste so amazing?" A frosting can definitely be too sweet. But if the cake itself is really sweet, I'm not sure that's as noticeable. So maybe sugar is to cake-making what butter is to other forms of cookery. I've had people ask why my mashed potatoes taste so good. I tell them it's the Yukon gold potatoes. Which isn't false, but the complete answer is that I use a shocking amount of butter. It's not like I'm a particularly talented mashed potato maker. Boil, puree, butter, butter, butter, salt, butter, salt, and then it's "What's your secret?"
In my mashed potatoes I use Yukon Gold potatoes, a little bit of butter and lots of 18% cream. I also whip in about a teaspoon and a half of baking powder. Then I shrug when people ask me "How do you get your mashed potatoes so fluffy?". Try it!
I added sour cream to my mashed potatoes without my husband knowing & he said that they were the best mashed potatoes he's EVER had. He doesn't like sour cream. Lol Still fix them with the sour cream. 🤣 I'll never tell. This is the one & only secret I will take to my grave! 😁🤫🤭
Wow. I've watched a lot of cake decorating videos and I have to say, I think yours was the best for several reasons. You didn't seem to skip over anything, your were very precise in your explanations and there weren't any shortcuts. THIS is why a cake like is so costly. Well done!
The level of artistry and commitment to her craft, the attention to such minute and intricate details, and treatment of the piece as a composition rather than just a wedding cake showcase her talent and skills in what we should all consider a master class. This was stunning and breathtaking. Bravo!

I would want want photos, including close-ups of the details, before cutting it,and would save one of every sugar flower.
