    Thank you so much! Great video, had no idea this adapter existed! Installed it on 2024 Venza Limited - install was identical. Works perfect!

    Hi, great video. Does this Garmin camera have parking mode? Does the parking mode work with the adapter you have installed?

      No, you need to hardwire it to make parking mode work.

    My 2023 XLE doesn't have that plug. There aren't any plugs on the right side under the panel. Just the gray plug that goes into the safety sensor and a small 2 pin for something. I can't use my type b adapter. It's really frustrating. I can't find one that will work. I don't have auto-dimming. It's so frustrating. I'm not sure what to do.

      Unfortunately, you might have to resort to the "Hardwire Fuse Kit." This can be tapped into the AUX slot and it'll power ON/OFF with the vehicle as well. Alternatively, if you want your dashcam powered 24/7, this can be done via the fuse kit as well. I believe the folks at Dongar Technologies offer this kit as well.

    Hello, thank you so much for this video. I have a question and hoping that you can help. I just bought a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid a few days ago but I did not get the option to have a digital rearview mirror and I am wondering if all the wirings are pre-wired for a model that does not come with a digital rearview mirror. Do you know if all the wirings are pre-wired the same as yours so i can simply connect the 10-pin Type B plug? Thanks in advance.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Рік тому

      It's possible in some occasions, but I'm not entirely sure. Do you have a similar plastic shroud as seen in this one? I would disassemble and inspect that to see if there's an available 10-pin port. Sometimes manufacturers do bunch up the wiring in places that are not accessible to us on different models. I'm guessing your vehicle does come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense. Do NOT use that port for this.

      hi just saw this video and it help me. I have the rav4 prime 2023 xse. without the digital rearview mirror, it comes with the homelink digital rearview mirror. and the wiring is the same. just different rear view mirrors. And YES all wiring comes the same way.

      Thank you for your quick response and I apologize for my late response. Yes, I have a very similar plastic shroud like the one in your video. Actually, my RAV4 did not come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense. I have not tried to open the plastic piece but will try soon because I like how neatly the wire looks vs where I am currently running that long cable that came with the camera all the way to the cigarette plug.

    Very nice video. Well done. I have two questions if I may?
    (1) Are we allowed to connect and disconnect connectors in a car which is under warranty? If something goes wrong it would void the warranty that what I was told. (2) Do you recommend Toyota made dash cam ver 2.0 which fits perfectly in the slots where all the wirings are but it is expensive. I am getting my new hybrid this month. Your feedback would help me to decide. Thank you.

      Hey brother, happy to answer the questions.
      1. You're technically making no modifications to the vehicle's ability to operate and you can easily reverse the installation (especially on a Toyota). The power is simply being drawn from a harness that powers up your auto-dimming rearview mirror (low amps). The most important tip here...do NOT show up to a dealership with any aftermarket mods to your vehicle. They will INSTANTLY blame it on anything you've done before taking any accountability. They are required by law to provide proof that the aftermarket part or system caused the need for repairs before they can deny a warranty claim, BUT the whole process of dealing with them is not worth the trouble. So as a life tip lol do NOT show up to a dealership with issues and your aftermarket parts installed :)
      2. The Toyota dash cam is awesome and it's OEM so you can never go wrong there. Unfortunately, it's quite expensive for footage and features you can get from a setup seen in this video. Honestly, you're good to go with something like a "Garmin Mini 2" and this adapter! A setup like this gives you flexibility to change/upgrade without feeling the pain of a $300 part + cost of labor to have it installed. I love Toyota, but I think you'd be just OK going this route.

      Thank you so much for very detailed answers. This kind of power arrangement is ON only when car is started and camera OFF when car is switched off. Just making sure this camera is not drawing power continuously and draining battery. Thank you so much for making so nice clip. Regards.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  5 місяців тому +1

      @@parimal3506 Appreciate it! ...and you are correct. The dashcam will power [ON] with the vehicle and power down once the vehicle is turned [OFF]. There is no concern of your dashcam draining power from your battery with this setup.

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  Місяць тому

      10-pin for sure, at least for this gen. I've seen a 12-pin on a Tacoma (3rd Gen), but not on a RAV4. I know there's some other plugs that tap into the power from the Toyota Safety Sense, which is usually more pins. In any case, this one's a 10-pin Type B :)
