I almost like it better before the black better, I know the black gives it the depth to get the 3D look but the first 2 colors worked very well together. It's harder to do on a small piece because you have to use more black or it won't look the same, on a bigger project you can use less black and really get the depth/3D look to pop. It's all about depth perception.

Vielleicht wäre es auch gut gewesen, mit Schwarz (oder Braun) zu beginnen und dann heller zu werden. Mir gefiel es ohne das Schwarz auch besser.

this is the 75th video I watched on how to spray paint on something.. I noticed that it doesn't matter if you've done such a great job or not.. people would always leave negative comments.. I don't know if they can do something better or just jealous.. anyways, great job man

We have painted four complete trucks using a similar technique, the result is awesome, especially if you use multiple colours its vital to have the black on last because it adds depth to the entire job and the 3d effect . Another trick is to use gloss colours for the base colours, and flat black over everything, the gloss colours pop under the flat colour and creates a definite 3D effect all flat colours just blend into eachother and you dont get the same effect. We just finished a jeep cherokee in pink and purple camo it looks pretty good. From beginning to end including sanding prep a bit of body work and masking, the entire truck took about 36 hours

You should spray the helmet green then paint it with the tan using the foliage. That way the foliage will be green with a tan background rather than tan foliage with green background.

Beautiful paint job. Been browsing ideas for my AR and I had really wanted to go with a kryptek or urban pattern but this just stands out so beautiful. Might have to try it but with a base coat of white and then greys blacks and maybe even a Navy blue.

This is pretty cool but I'm going to start with that leafy green color 1st, and lay down different leaves all over at once so I don't have to move them all around...I'm thinking cedar, plus ferns, bramble leaves & a couple others plus branches.

For better camo spray your dark color first then use your pattern and spray your lighter colors. Look at the color of the plant your using to judge what color goes down first. Dark color should always go down first.

You want the light base coat first. If you do green first then it looks like a picture of the foliage which is not natural. The lighter branches resembles the foliage catching light rays, which is what you want.
After the green you can do brown for "woodland" 3 color.. But whether you use the brown or not, to go back over with very light tan highlights makes them pop with a little more depth. The black is a good touch but with lighter, more wispy shots of paint, it would add the shadow effect intended without covering up an otherwise nice job. I agree, too much black. Overall a good vid, tho. Thanks.

I like the idea but the leaves come out tan on the helmet and not green like the item you used. If you would have started with dark and light alternating green and used the tan you would have achieved the opposite result looking more realistic. I have done many of these to rifles and I found out after trial and error. Nice Job anyways.
