Please share more on teen grief if possible and help out this school psychologist. I’m currently supporting a student who lost both parents in a horrific car accident. It’s tough. My heart breaks for them.
I loved this. 52 year old male that just lost my mom yesterday at 75 yrs young to breast cancer. My heart is heavy but leaning on my wife my rock and family to help push thru this without the need for drugs, herbs, alcohol etc. You ARE awesome and a gift to those looking for help.
Thank you so much for this comment. It motivates me to keep making videos. I have several grief videos on the channel so I hope they hep you and your family. Thank you Quenby
I'm so grateful for you Quenby and appreciate these videos that you've put out for us who need it. My mom passed yesterday evening unexpectedly. It was necessary to cut ties with her about 7 years ago(traumatic childhood) but she was still my mom and I loved her. I was desperately hoping for resolution at some point. I don't even know what to do with how I'm feeling right now. I couldn't sleep so I hopped on UA-cam and came here first to pick your brain. I appreciate your expert tips. I will be searching for a group to attend after the funeral is all done 💛
Oh I'm so very sorry. We call this "complicated grief". You can still heal and find the resolution you crave. Your mom does not have to be present for you to find resolution. Sending a hug your way.
Hi Quenby, Great video a big topic to cover. And there definitely is a process and different stages of grief. I lost my mom when I was 17, And it has affected many aspects of my life ever since and im 54 now. But all these points you made are helpful and a great starting point if you are grieving. Thanks for taking on and tackling this huge issue!! Thanks so much... ! Debbie
Hi Debbie, Yes there are stages of grief. In my years of being a grief counselor I have learned that everyone goes through different stages at different times, so there is no pre-set order. The old Kubler-Ross model is often misunderstood because her work was really for dying patients not bereaved people. I appeciate your comments and thoughts so very much. xoxo q
Hi Jobi, thank you for this feedback. It's a tough subject and I never imagined making videos about it so I hope it comes across okay. I truly appreciate your comment. Thanks! Quenby
Thank you Quenby for this video and your other videos on Grief. With losing my Dad just a little over a week ago, I really needed to watch this. I Also, lost My Mom, Mother-in-law, and my sister when I was 25 within the same year. I have experienced a lot of loss with loved ones and each loss has been different. I saw a professional when I was 25 and it really helped ❤️
Thank you Michelle for sharing this with me .That is too much loss in too short a time! And yes, grief is always changing. Sending a hug your way. xo Quenby
Great videos! Thank you for your time in making these videos and sharing your knowledge! I’m studying at university to be a counselor and you have really helped me 🙏🏻
I saw a grief counsellor and all it did was made matters even worse. The denial and bargaining phases of grief never happened. Acceptance happened on the day my wife died. Anger and depression have been constant for the whole of the last eleven years. Group support was even worse than one to one counselling and nearly destroyed me. I now minimise contact with family and friends as this minimises the pain. The day I die will be the day my pain ends.
I'm sorry to hear this. I hope you can find the right therapist for you. Therapy is hard in the moment but results in better outcomes long term. I suggest reaching out to your MD to discuss depression.
@Nihilanthe Therapy made me more angry, more anxious, less sociable, heighten my phobias the list goes on. I think the reason for this is the therapist forced me to face my fears, emotions and feelings when I made it clear that doing this would turn out badly. I felt bullied into opening up...I've learnt my lesson and I'll never make that mistake again. I also now don't trust anyone in the slightest. The only time I'm at peace is when I'm asleep and that's why I look to get a minimum of 12 hours a night during the and 14-16 hours at the weekend.
I lost my husband 6months ago from consequence of bizarre sports accidenc playing football. I am left alone with my 2sons 13 and 16.years old. I am devasteted, i need help
Great Question, I was a Hospice Bereavement Coordinator for 10 years. Are you working with people of all ages? I have some grief tools in my etsy shop, and my fav books are linked in the description section too. I like Theresa Rando. What specifically are you interested in learning? Group therapy? I have 3 videos on grief therapy. Thanks Quenby
Hi Cherla, What do you need help with specifically? Please call 911 if you are having a crisis. If you have questions about the video, please let me know. If you need therapy, please talk to your MD, as youtube is not therapy, of course. Quenby

P. S. I don't have a single photo of my wife or family in my apartment as the memories are too painful.

In what ways did it make things worse? What would you have needed instead from the counsellor?

I got all my training at Hospice. They have so many trainings for free. Xo Quenby
