i got the ninja like you show and when i cooked two quarter pound frozen hamburgers on the griddle - the grease did not stay in the pan it splattered all over the walls and up into the screen covering the fan ( i guess from the air flow ) and then when i opened the lid - the grease dripped down off the back wall onto the hinges and even in the middle part and onto the counter top - almost NO grease was left in the pan - maybe a teaspoon - usually there is about 3 tablespoons of grease from the 75 / 25 lean burgers i returned it - then i got the ninja DG551 model and it lets me choose a bake mode that does not spin the fan up as fast and i have no problem with the grease going all over
Sorry to hear that, I have never had that happen to me in any air fryer that I have owned Commodore have I heard about anybody else having that problem. Maybe you just got a defective one. Anyway I'm glad you got it straightened out thanks for letting me know
We have both. I, personally, like the ZStar better. I like the window, better airflow, controls are easier to use, and I like the placement on the top. My husband likes the grill marks from the Ninja, but the food slides forward, no matter what I cook, would have been smarter to make the grill risers going the other way, as the grill is tipped forward and eventually the food is hanging over the grease channel. The Ninja is also louder, and puts out a lot of heat in the back.
I bought a Ninja air fryer 1.5 years ago for $200 from Lowes. I travel & I use it in my hotel room. I love that thing! It works amazing and clean up is easy.
I ALMOST bought one of those Z- Stars! So glad I didn't . I did a boat load of research and bought a 6.0 Cosori Turbo Blaze , I like that it goes up to 450o! I have had it a year now and live it! So when it went on sale I bought another to keep in storage until this one breaks one day. I also bought a Cosori dual blaze with a element on top and bottom. Haven't taken it out of the box yet . I am sure I'll like it , but it only goes to 400o. I also use a crock pot , or an open pit fire and cast iron It's all I need .
I bought the 6 qt Cosori blaze also in February this year, it's just me here and I love it. It was on consumer reports best air fryer in 2024 for a couple or Dorms at college. Just simple and the broil at 450 my ribeye is perfect and chicken thighs crispy and juicy. 💯
Thank you for you're generous contribution to the Carnivore movement. As is usually the case you are thorough and articulate. Hope you are feeling better soon , I know you have had some health issues....best wishes. John

Mitch, I think the ninja AF101 is the best air fryer for carnivores. I’m like you, I have multiple air fryers. The cleaning is what makes it best for carnivore diet. Dump grease out using the provided handle. White with paper towel and you’re done. The 6 in 1 Ninja I have but it’s a pain in the but to clean with hot grease. Need two hands and oven mits to clean quickly. Ninja air fryers with handle and basket by far the most convenient for people with no patience. Lol

Mitch are u in Orlando Tampa area? Just wondering as I was thinking about u when I was there on vacation. Now I’m back in So Cal
Hey , 2 year carnivore here . Thanks for the info. Kinda wondering if I should be worried about the coating on these appliances? Been cooking on cast iron , a little clean up but I think it’s healthier in the long run with all the meat we consume on carnivore…..💕
So far I love my Zstar. I also found that I could put the Ninja rectangle paper liners fit in the inner liner and then I put the grill or basket over it so I can preheat. I also love that the Zstar pans are dishwasher safe. That is easy to clean for me.
Good morning Mitch, I would prefer to use an air friar that has no nonstick coatings but I cannot see myself replacing my current air fryer. I do not let perfection get in the way of progress.
I like the big glass window on the zstar I just wish the light could be turned on and off with a button. I have to stand and wait for a cycle. Only bad thing I have to say about it.

I have a glorious collection of antique cast iron that all do slide-y eggs (if ya know you know!) yet still use my air fryer nearly every single day :D
My air fryer journey started with a Ninja pull out basket air frier. That lasted a little over 1 year using it every day. the hard part was cleaning the upper part. Then I went to a power xl and thought it was great. I could use it as an air frier or take off the lid and put a glass lid on for a slow cooker. I now have gone through 3 of them and the last one lasted 3 months. I found I could take off the fry lid and put the glass lid on for a slow cooker still. They are about $118.. So now I am looking at InstantPots and Ninja Foodie pots. Emailed Power XL the first time and never heard anything back. Went to the Ninja site and you can buy the lower and upper parts. For what I spent on the Power XL I could have bought the top line Ninja pot which is about $400. You are right used my air frier almost exclusively every day compared to my oven.
Hey Mitch, I got the Zstar the last time they were available. 😊 It's serving me well. When the time comes for an upgrade, I will likely move on to Ninja. I use mine every day. 🚀
The only problem I have with these fryers is the non-stick coating. I just do not trust them. I wish there is a good one with simply stainless steel basket. Please let us know if you find one :)
I think, the best thing for you, is to not use any non-stick coatings. As for me, I'm not worried about them, I have been eating food prepared in Teflon and every other non-stick coating since I was 15 years old, I'm still alive and healthy at 77 years old, and I'm tired of the alarmism over insignificant problems. The latest Coatings are pufa and pfas free, and I honestly don't think they provide any hazards or dangers that we need to be concerned about. Better to focus on eliminating sugar, cyanide, seed oils, and all the really bad stuff from our diet
Can't figure what to do with the other 4 air fryers I have in the basement. I think I'll put them in the cartons they came in and put them on the curb with a "free" sign. 3 cosori's and an old ninja. Will reconsider other from my Z Star once the lid is packed with grease splatter.
Hi Mitch, the new Ninja which has the griddle. We bought that one. I love it, but the cleaning is no fun at all. Still try to find out how to really get this thing clean😢
Mitch, I have never had an air fryer, but I’m thinking of purchasing one. The issue I have with making all the meat is the smell I turn on the fans I even raise the kitchen window sometimes, but the smell seems to stay in the kitchen do air fryers help the smell or are they just as bad as a frying pan. Right now I use a cast-iron skillet.
I love my Ninja IG651 I have 5 different air fryers 3 NInja's 1 Nuwave and one From The shopping network that has a basket you pull out and can shake it etc I have had it the longest. My favorite is the 651
Mitch, I have 2 of those Ninja IG651 I got off your link. Both when using the thermometer it constantly over cooks the Meat every time. thermometer pushed into the center???

@@OldGuyCarnivore I love it, especially on cooler days where we can be outside. I use it for cooking fish, air frying wings. It's also a smoker so I do smoke a lot too. My outside space is small so this was perfect.
Couldn’t find the Zstar, so I purchased Ninja loved everything except cleaning the hood ( inside lid). Then after six months it stopped browning the steaks (all beef) and chicken. So now I have a huge doorstop. Guess I’ll go back to cast iron and grease splatter
The only difference between the two is the fact that the grill on the 7 and 1 has its own heating element. I wouldn't have even gotten the six in one, but for a month or so the 6-in-1 became unavailable and I thought it had become discontinued, so I thought I had to buy the latest model. Mitch, I made MY choice between the 551 and the 651 when the 551 was on sale for $150, and the 651 was on sale for $180 !! Based on YOUR reviews of both, I chose the one that I thought would be the most useful for ME and the way that I like to cook MY MEATS !! I chose the 651 because of the grill plate and its ability to be used lid up or lid down !! If I choose to Sous Vide a nice juicy Ribeye, I can fire up the 651 to sear MY steak with beautiful grill marks !! If I choose to cook from frozen, I can do that as well, I deemed the 651 to be the best choice for ME, and I am happy with it !! !! Mitch, I thank YOU for providing ME with the information that I needed to make an informed decision !! !! Now, YOU be sure to EAT MEAT, while I take MY RIBEYE out of the Sous Vide to sear and eat it !! .

I'm day 86 Carnivore & bought a basket air fryer when I first started, most likely because like every other "diet" I thought I would fail. This way of eating is the Best thing ever & I ain't going back. With that said, the pound of shrimp I air fried last night would have been much faster in a big unit. Guess a Ninja is in my future, Thanks !!
Oh man, I think I should upgrade from my basket type air fryer so I can make my eggs & bacon all in one unit. I don’t have a stove so an air fryer is a game changer for me ! 😁
Sadly, in Canada, I have never seen the Ninja Airfryer on sale. I have been using my Black and Decker for a while now, and I'm kind of surprised it has lasted.
I've owned an air fryer in one form or another for the last 5 or 6 years, I've never tried to cook meat in them. Maybe some frozen chicken but never pork or beef Raw chicken, beef, pork, deer, and lamb all belong on a cast iron pan or a charcoal grill and most recently a pellet grill.
Good day Mitch! Thank you so much for all your research and time. I appreciate and look forward to all your videos, especially your rants. Have a great one!
@@OldGuyCarnivore agreed. I am really being careful with the nonstick surface. Someone once told me to let them cool completely before cleaning to help preserve it. I do this with my Cosori and so far so good. Been looking at the Foodie for several years. Glad I ran across your channel.
@jeffehlers9893 thanks, and I've learned that if you follow a few simple rules in the cooking and care of these non-stick coatings, they present little or no danger whatsoever
@@OldGuyCarnivoreI’m not at all worried about anything toxic with the coating. I was just looking for methods to make the non stick surface last a long time and continue to work so well. I love how slick these ceramic coatings are. My family has cooked on Teflon for decades. No ill effects at all. I sometimes wonder where all the fear came from.
Anyone ever try out a stainless steel air fryer? I believe Cuisinart and GE brand both have them. I want one without the nonstick coatings, so I would think the stainless steel ones are better, yeah?
Great video Mitch. Thanks! I’m using a Chefman Air Fryer that looks like a stainless steel toaster oven. It has a bunch of cooking modes: air fry, air broil, toast, dehydrate, etc. But I don’t think it works especially well as an air fryer so I’m considering one of these 2 air fryers. However, I purchased a vintage Griswold #8 cast iron frying pan (Large Block Letters) that I use to cook my steaks in beef tallow and it is AMAZING!!!! So, since I rarely eat chicken anymore, I haven’t really used my air fryer in awhile. Just my thoughts…😊
I still cook a lot with my lightweight cast iron skillet. But had gotten a large old-style air fryer. It's great for individual meals, can do a whole chicken. Fast and economical to use than an oven.
It is not essential. I have never owned one and never will. Not because I wouldn't like one, but I have a very small solar setup because in the Andes, that is the only electricity that we can have. I am managing my carnivore way of life just fine.
Hey Mitch, since you turned off yesterdays comments I just wanted to say from one old fart to another and especially one with a significant restaurant and cooking background..."get out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat".

As long as it's still getting the job done, I guess that's all you can hope for
So helpful regarding the detail of your info! Mitch hope your day is great AND like you will be eating meat :))). Kathleen
Of course I will, Kathleen
I’m thinking maybe the cosori dual. Heats bottom and top but not sure.
I don't know much about that model, sorry
I've owned an air fryer in one form or another for the last 5 or 6 years, I've never tried to cook meat in them. Maybe some frozen chicken but never pork or beef Raw chicken, beef, pork, deer, and lamb all belong on a cast iron pan or a charcoal grill and most recently a pellet grill.
Sounds to me like you've got great ways to cook meat already. I've been wanting to get a pellet grill myself
Can you fit a whole chicken in the ninja, It actually seems kinda shallow?
I don't think it's designed for whole chickens
@@OldGuyCarnivore spatchcock maybe
You might be able to take kitchen shears and remove the spine, and spatchcock it or split in two and alternate how it sits on the tray.
I don’t know, but I love a juicy, delicious, delectable, smoked brisket.
Who doesn't?
@@OldGuyCarnivore they call themselves VEGAN. LOL.
Now that's funny
Thanks, I will need to drag my old air fryer out of the pantry & see if I need to upgrade.
Love my Dreo Chefmaker
I'm glad to hear that
Good Morning Mitch
How come you don't have your dish rack on your page?
I got my dish rack at Bed Bath & beyond, and I don't even know if they're still in business. I suppose I could find one like it on Amazon
Good day Mitch! Thank you so much for all your research and time. I appreciate and look forward to all your videos, especially your rants. Have a great one!
My pleasure!
You are still the man!
Thank you very much
❤🤦🏼♀️ Oh brother Mitch!!!!😂
They might be selling the 651 cheaper because they are soon to introduce another upgrade.
Black baby true, but it doesn't matter to me. Sometimes the best deals are on last year's model which in most cases is perfectly good enough
Air fryer games Mitch. 😂😂😂😂. Aussie Bob
Hi Mitch
Good morning from Copperhill Tn. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Anyone ever try out a stainless steel air fryer? I believe Cuisinart and GE brand both have them. I want one without the nonstick coatings, so I would think the stainless steel ones are better, yeah?
I have a Cuisinart and it is impossible to clean
@@OldGuyCarnivore That’s too bad :(
👍
Yes!!! More A.F. discussion! The topic I didn't know I needed!
LOL
There's nothing wrong with your thinking.
I have Cosori easy to clean
I still cook a lot with my lightweight cast iron skillet. But had gotten a large old-style air fryer. It's great for individual meals, can do a whole chicken. Fast and economical to use than an oven.
Are these nontoxic?
Yes, I believe they are non-toxic
Thank you for the input ...........
My pleasure
It is not essential. I have never owned one and never will. Not because I wouldn't like one, but I have a very small solar setup because in the Andes, that is the only electricity that we can have.
I am managing my carnivore way of life just fine.
Actually, that's really great to hear. Sounds like a real Primal lifestyle
Thank you, Mitch.
You're welcome, Steve
No longer on sale. 246$
If you're talking about the ninja, I just looked 2 minutes ago and it was at 179 on Amazon
On another note, I was absolutely loving the rant on Non-stick surfaces on cookware then POOF! It disappeared. Did you fall prey to the YT demons?
No, I pulled that video. On a day that I decided to go completely positive, I had second thoughts about that.
Zstar out of stock again
Hey Mitch, since you turned off yesterdays comments I just wanted to say from one old fart to another and especially one with a significant restaurant and cooking background..."get out of the kitchen if you can't stand the heat".
CL- Will be nice to see you sticking solely to the carnivore lane - candidly your manic state of mind is getting hard to deal with on this channel!
Sorry you feel that way
@Shedly81 hope it made you feel better to be incredibly rude and hurtful to someone on their own channel. Please stay away from kittens and puppies today.
You are ridiculous
