Best way to weigh things on a bathroom scale is to weigh yourself then weigh yourself again holding the blower with nothing touching the ground and subtract the difference. That’s how I weigh my dogs.
I just have my own private lawn work but I love when I’m able to power through the weekly routine with great equipment. I’ve been eying the 8010 for a while now.
It seems like the 770 with it's higher MPH will have more PSI coming out of the tube, whereas the 8010 will have more volume, but I want to move heavier debris.
Me neither! I don't have any "in" with Stihl, though, so I think I will have to wait until they can be bought regular, which will probably be in the fall?
I like both brands. I’ve had good luck with the 4-mix’s. Power, price and dealer are my thing. If it’s a better deal than the BR800 and out performs it... that’s what I’ll get when I need a BP
The BR800 has a side pull start that you can pull and start the engine with while the blower is on your back so it's in a class of it's own. I believe this will be the new standard for future backpack blowers.
Thanks for the quick comparison. I’m a fan of Echo products for the past 5 years. My PB 770 has made me lots of money and hope the PB 8010 will exceed my expectations.
You bet! Thanks for watching and commenting! And my 770 has been holding up like a champ this past year, I think either one will be a great addition to a company! :)
Copper Creek Cuts just picked mine up today and it’s awesome I must say. My company is Pangea Gardenscapes, LLC. I’m on Facebook. I been in the industry going on 20 years in February.
That PB8010 looks to be built alot like the redmax 8500. Same over the engine air intake system and tubes, and even the primer bulb and choke are similar. I usually use nothing but Echo and Stihl blowers however I just bought a used redmax 8500 and I love this blower too. The power is hard to beat and I paid $100 for it.
Yes sir, when I bought it on offerup for $100 it was in poor running condition; would barely start and when it did it would rattle like the piston was bad and die. However it was in excellent cosmetic condition so I rolled the dice and bought it. After a new $15 carb and fuel line kit from ebay it started easy but still had the awful rattle noise so I removed the muffler and behold, the rattle was a broken off piece of metal from the inside of the muffler itself since shaking the muffler rattled like a can of spray paint. Removed the piece of broken metal from the inside of muffler with a magnet and needle nose pliers and cleaned the exhaust port and this thing starts on 1st pull now with plenty of power. One of the best gambles I've taken lol.
They moved the carb/primer back to the old way, it was underneath, the air filter has been up top like that for ever on the Redmax/ husky blowers, I had a couple BTS580s (same as the 8500) great blowers! I dont like the auto choke feature, mainly bc if you start having a running issue while working, you can't compensate to keep it running, if it flicks the choke open your not going to be able to keep it running, I was not a fan of the 770 when it came out, their new model seems better now though.
I'm finally replacing my old PB-403T after about 18 years of use. It has been a great blower, with 380 cfm and 175 mph. And I'm an Echo fan, preferring their chainsaws over others. The one thing I use my BP Blower for is removing grass from the top of my 15' batwing mower. That grass can get wet and sticky and it takes a pretty good blow to remove it sometimes. So I'm looking/needing FORCE first and Volume second. It seems to me that the PB-770 has a higher mph (234) which relates to force and it's higher than the PB-8010 (211). To me, your test showed the PB-770 cleared the dirt off the driveway easier/faster (IMHO). Now $100 difference doesn't really matter to me, I want FORCE. Since you've been using the PB-8010 for a bit, which do you think would fit my need better. I'm thinking the PB-770 but value your opinion. Thanks.
Great question! I am not honestly sure! I guess the big question is the 10% drop in MPH worth the higher newtons and CFM, and honestly I am not sure. Also is how much time you spend doing that task using the blower for other things and how important that function will be over the lifespan of the machine. Not a very helpful answer, I know! :)
Facing a similar question since I'd like to upgrade my aging yet reliable Stihl BG 56 (412 cfm / 159 mph) with something more powerful so that cleaning up my long driveway doesn't take nearly as long. That being said, you are correct about the force (pressure) first and volume (flow) second for your application. Relatively heavy particles with small surface area, such as wet grass, dirt, sand, pea gravel, green acorns, etc. require higher force to get moving (i.e. accelerate). On the other hand, relatively light particles with large surface area, such as elm leaves, maple leaves, paper debris, etc. benefit from the highest flow (cfm). Just consider that a gentle breeze will rearrange the maple leaves on the ground in your front yard, while the fine sand and pebbles on your concrete driveway remain motionless. When moving 60ºF air, the PB-770 with 234 mph generates a dynamic pressure of 140 lb/sq ft (0.972 psi), whereas the PB-8010 with 211 mph generates a dynamic pressure of 114 lb/sq ft (0.791 psi). This means that the PB-770 produces about 23% greater force (but less flow) than the PB-8010. As you pointed out, the greater force of the PB-770 is clearly shown by the video, although the PB-8010 does blow a wider path as expected due to its increased 3.6" tube diameter. (From my perspective, perhaps Echo should have furnished both round and flat nozzles for their backpack blowers similar to that included for some of their handheld models and those made by Stihl, etc.; you would then have the option of selecting either high flow or maximum pressure nozzles depending upon the application.) Several of the UA-cam video reviews for the PB-8010 made by other professional landscapers mention that it's second to none for blowing dry leaves, but insinuate that it lacks the mph for general cleanup use. You may also want to read the other reviews at the Echo website, Home Depot, etc., and look at opereviews.com/landscaping/leaf-blowers/best-backpack-blower-shootout/ at OPEReviews.com (December 29, 2017) comparing the Echo PB-770T to various other blowers in the same class. At this point, from what I've seen here and read elsewhere, I'm leaning toward purchasing the PB-770T as well. Hope this helps. Hat tip to Brad for a very informative comparison video and review.
I just bought the Stihl BR800c-e and I am thinking of returning it in exchange for the Echo 770t. Reason is because the BR800 is so big on my back I look like a Ghostbuster. I also keep hearing that Echo makes a more durable product. Should I return it?
Wait for fleet sale day or dealer special. If you need a BP more power is always nice. Even with fuel prices on the rise if it gets the job done faster you might come out even with the 770.
I don't own the pb8010 or stihl br800 yet but from what I've seen the pb8010 is stronger. The still does have an advantage though with the side pull start that lets you start the blower while it's on your back.
I've got three 770s and one 8010 and I'm buying another brand new 770. The only reason why I'm not buying another 8010 is because it's just so damn big that I'm having trouble storing it on a particular truck. I got my 8010 I think in the summer of 2019 and yeah it's got loads of power and it's great for blowing sand and leaves and so is the 770 but the one thing I'll say about the 8010, is it is by far and it ain't even close, the loudest blower that I've ever used and it consumes more fuel than any blower that I've ever used. I'm really looking forward to getting my new 770 because the one that I use now has a lot of play in the throttle cable and it's just really old so I can't wait to get my hands on another brand new one to refresh my memory on what the power is like compared to the 8010.
Thanks for the feedback! :) I appreciate you watching and commenting! Anything specific about it that ECHO could improve upon or make better? (Not trolling you, I am genuinely wanting to know where it falls short so I can tell ECHO)
Copper Creek Cuts I just bought four weeks ago 770t. Having trouble finding room for it on my trailer. It’s easy Pickens right now. With the 770 T I find that it’s blowing my customers knickknacks chairs tables all over the place😂🤬
Awesome video man that's a bad ass echo blower I'll get one next summer my two 770 and 755 are getting pretty old next summer they will be on there 8th year with us we use them 5 and 6 days a week all year around and they run great all I've had to do is replace the carbs and one of my 770 had a bad coil this year that is it I don't recommend the Stihl br600 magnums or the 700 we had 3 Br 600 magnums with bad cranks after only two years of usage and I got them a year after I got my echos and my echos are still running and those three magnums are in the garbage $1500 down the drain but people keep buying them and they require way more maint then echos.
Great video Brad my old echo blower BP 770T was the best. I do order my new Echo BP 770H few months ago compared to my Old 770T the 770H is not good at all less power blowing leafs and more noise . I’m disappointed so far on my new blower Same happen on my weed eater my 280 was the best before buying my 280t for around $480 not sure was grown with Echo new product. edger was not necessary with the echo 280. later with the echo 280t is even hard to go deep on between the concrete and grass we try many different string lines to find out but never happens :(
So, I'm assuming there's gonna be a gently used 770 going up for sale soon? Auto choke is a great feature, and nothing beats the rumble of the Echo. If you can identify the engines between a Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, etc, does that make you a lawn nut?
I think that is the general average of how much bigger the specs are, yes! I agree, wait until you see more substantial review videos to make your choice!
Copper Creek Cuts thank you I have an older Echo Pb 603 that is still running strong love it the 8010 would be a nice upgrade for sure 2 cycle not a 4 mix I believe ?
That 770 did just as well as the 8010 did in my opinion when it comes to the dirt test. I know that the 8010 is a more powerful blower but maybe the mph help with the 770 when it came to the dirt test
Awesome brad! Thanks for showing! Looks great I’ll have to try one, but did you know that the engine in the pb 8010 is a redmax engine?? Redmax all the way!!
stihl is excellent and I own a stihl pole hedger, stick edger, hand held blower and string trimmer but as far as the br800 and echo 8010 there is no comparison in power. The echo has more power period and if you think the br800 is stronger or even equal to the power of the echo 8010 then you my friend are a *fool* . I sold my redmax 8500 on offerup for $300 and bought the echo 8010 and this thing is worth every red cent.
Bella Chiah i did the KW to HP conversion and it comes out to like 4.2 or or 4.3 HP. Can’t remember the exact number. The CFM and MPH are partially determined by the tube and fan size so 🤷♂️
Just the document I showed that is the EPA paperwork and shows the engine size. There is a photo floating around Lawnsite. I will try to get some more info and do an update video!
Eye Of Mind Manifest hey I have one even better search this in UA-cam search bar the title is Stihl BR800x2 type it down just like that ... your welcome
A great question! I was told once you get to 80CC the EPA regulations change and you have to start adding on things like charcoal canisters. So all the engines are 79 or 79.9CC! XD
It's been five years since RedMax came out with a new blower all these blowers barely blow equal to what do you think's going to happen when RedMax answers the call
Copper Creek Cuts the actual demonstration with the topsoil! It only was about a 2 feet difference. But I’m interested to see it up against the BR 700 or a red max
@@adrianbrown5058 That's true! I tried to address that in the video, but this test was only to show that it moves air further. You might only have a 10-20% increase in the furthest the air can travel, but no one does work that far away from what they are blowing! :) The real difference is in the first 15 feet, which is difficult to show on video and keep it scientific.
Looks like in the video you spent a lot more time and aimed higher in that upper right section to get the 8010 to blow out that corner more then you did with the 770, I thought power looked about the same? just my humble meaningless opinion....
I appreciate you sharing it! Nearly all of my opinions are meaningless, so I welcome all similar ones! :) And looking back, this was one of those things I thought would show up great on camera, but was actually not that telling about the power difference.
Just my opinion, the new echo blower is too bulky.. All power to anyone that wants it but I'm not into that big of a backpack blower and there is pretty much no difference in them besides the bulkyness.lol
No worries sharing your opinion! :) When you say almost no difference, what part(s) get you? Do you think the difference in CFM isn't worth it? (I'm not trolling you, just genuinely curious where you feel it falls short)
@@CopperCreekCuts Well,it really depends on what you're using it for. Leaves or grass clippings. In my opinion just not that much of a difference in power to be relevant to my daily use..
Oh of course not, but I mean regardless I am getting the 800 for a review video. So I wouldn't be able to pick up the 700 like you suggested and then the 800 as well like I planned.
Brad you remind me of the host from car and driver. Your videos are put together well. And like a fine wine they just get better with time 👍
Best way to weigh things on a bathroom scale is to weigh yourself then weigh yourself again holding the blower with nothing touching the ground and subtract the difference. That’s how I weigh my dogs.
I just purchased the 8010H and it’s a beast it’s almost too strong but I love it. I am a Echo guy all the way!
It is a very powerful machine!
I just have my own private lawn work but I love when I’m able to power through the weekly routine with great equipment. I’ve been eying the 8010 for a while now.
It is a monster!
Great video! I have the 770...2 full seasons still going strong 😎
The 770 is a solid backpack as well! I don't think I personally would upgrade unless my 770 died. Thank you for watching and commenting! :)
@@CopperCreekCuts Thanks for the comment, I was thinking about upgrading, but only use it on a few acres at home.
I have both the 770 for every day and the 8010 Only for the 🍁 season the tubing is hard to maneuver kill my arm
It seems like the 770 with it's higher MPH will have more PSI coming out of the tube, whereas the 8010 will have more volume, but I want to move heavier debris.
I am not sure about PSI and blowers, but the 8010 has more pushing power for sure.
The best 8010 video out there so far
Thank you Sir! :) I appreciate that!
It looks awesome! I love to see companies stepping it up. More great options to chose from!
Can’t wait to see the comparison between the 8010 and the 800!
Me neither! I don't have any "in" with Stihl, though, so I think I will have to wait until they can be bought regular, which will probably be in the fall?

8010= 211 MPH and 1071 CFM. Br 800= 239 and 912 CFM. So the BR will scour and push better. It depends on application.
I will await the comparison video then! The spec sheets don’t always tell the whole story. Maybe Brian’s lawn maintenance will do a blower wars 3.0
Thanks for the quick comparison. I’m a fan of Echo products for the past 5 years. My PB 770 has made me lots of money and hope the PB 8010 will exceed my expectations.

Thanks for the feedback, you make some great points!
@@CopperCreekCuts Yessir, thanks for the awesome video.
how about a video on the Stihl BR700??
I am waiting to get an 800. Don't want to spend >$1000 on two blowers I won't need after filming with them for a few weeks! :)
Composting that yard, but it’s for UA-cam lol
hmmm, from that video, I see the 770 shoot all the way to the crack in the driveway... 8010 ?? Well, I dont see it blowing it any further.
Would have been a better video with leaves, unfortunately they haven't started dropping down here yet! ;)
In my yrs of comm. use, MPH is the most important as it saves you steps!
Yes that's why I said the 770 won. It cleared the block.
@@CopperCreekCuts I have to 8010, for almost 2 yrs, and the 8010 is a beast
Is the 8010 a lot louder than the 770?
80 decibels vs 74, but that is a big difference when it comes to decibels.
Any info on the Br 800??
Bella Chiah i did the KW to HP conversion and it comes out to like 4.2 or or 4.3 HP. Can’t remember the exact number. The CFM and MPH are partially determined by the tube and fan size so 🤷♂️
Just the document I showed that is the EPA paperwork and shows the engine size. There is a photo floating around Lawnsite. I will try to get some more info and do an update video!
Copper Creek Cuts yes I seen it... it looks very cool
Eye Of Mind Manifest hey I have one even better search this in UA-cam search bar the title is Stihl BR800x2 type it down just like that ... your welcome
Eye Of Mind Manifest have you seen the new video?????!!!! A good video of it search up br800 again it should be the first video
I wonder why one of the companies didn't go to 85 CC. It seems the big three are all 79
Probably volume of air is the biggest difference
A great question! I was told once you get to 80CC the EPA regulations change and you have to start adding on things like charcoal canisters. So all the engines are 79 or 79.9CC! XD
I never want to see you docking your blowers ever again!!!!
I had to google that, and I will never be the same again! XD
@@CopperCreekCuts You and me both!
Now it needs an electric starter
Haha, that would be a very nice add on!
It's been five years since RedMax came out with a new blower all these blowers barely blow equal to what do you think's going to happen when RedMax answers the call
I don't know...but I am excited to find out!
they came out with the 8550
Got an idea for vid for you
My Top 3 weirdest vid segments
:)
LOL I set myself up for that one! ;)
Who won?
Doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade based off the video!
Which part gives that impression?
Copper Creek Cuts the actual demonstration with the topsoil! It only was about a 2 feet difference. But I’m interested to see it up against the BR 700 or a red max
@@adrianbrown5058 That's true! I tried to address that in the video, but this test was only to show that it moves air further. You might only have a 10-20% increase in the furthest the air can travel, but no one does work that far away from what they are blowing! :) The real difference is in the first 15 feet, which is difficult to show on video and keep it scientific.
Adrian Brown let’s go redmax! The engine used in the pb 8010 is a redmax engine. That’s why it’s so strong!!
Alexander Goushy G&G Landscaping I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but no, ECHO isn't using a Redmax engine. :)
770 won.
A little NSFW docking going down at the 2:23 mark.
PB-8010H
The real test? Try blowing oak tree debris like twigs and especially acorns from your lawn. My Echo PB-770T does the job, barely!
Tested the BR800 and the 8010 doing that cleaning up the leaves in my front yard! Such a pain! :)
In my opinion just not that much of a difference in power to be relevant to my daily use..
looks like a red max clone
The air filter on the top looks very similar in design.
I hate heavy backpack blowers
Me too! But even the 580 is 23 pounds, so there isn't too much difference in the top three blowers they have.
Well I'm sure it won't be $1000 for the BR 800
Oh of course not, but I mean regardless I am getting the 800 for a review video. So I wouldn't be able to pick up the 700 like you suggested and then the 800 as well like I planned.
Composting that yard, but it’s for UA-cam lol
