I have the redmax 8500 and it is time for a new blower. So, i bought the big ole pb 8010 echo yesterday. It's lighter than the redmax, has a better harness (much better), and in my opinion throws out about 20 percent more air (force). Thanks Richie for taking time to inform us .

Great video, both are awesome machines. Being in lawn care I've found its very important what you mentioned about dealer support. They are both fine now but who's gonna take of you 2-3-4 years down the road. My local stihl dealers customer service is second to none, that's why they get my money everytime I buy equipment. Thanks for the upload!

good talk. from the bit about wet vs. dry leaves sounds like they both have their strengths in practical use. i'm still looking at the echo for that raw power, though 😂 if i end up buying the echo, i'd better not port the muffler like i do everything else; they might call the cops for noise complaints.

I loved my redmax 8500 before I got the echo 8010 but that Redmax 8550
won't compare to the echo pb 8010. The 8010 is more powerful than the
br800 also. I must say though based on my other stihl equipment stihl
lasts longer and is more reliable than echo and the echo warranty is a
joke. Lucky for me I work on my own equipment.

I gotta disagree my old Stihl is beast and my new echo well old but newer has been locked up by lazy employee finally had to replace the pull string the straps are starting to degrade and need replaced but still starts first pull like my new shindawa I do like how Stihl mainly uses one style of air filter but I like my echos better just had better luck also killed a huskivarna blower it runs but don't like being full time I can tell it's running worse the more it gets ran

You could start it when it is on the ground for the first start of the day, warm it first before putting it on, that way if you have the choke set wrong, etc... you won't have to take it back off anyway. But that side start is convenient for when you need to kill the engine to talk to a customer, you don't have to take it off to start it again, it already warm.
Any kind of stuff that you dislike could possibly be an opportunity for a patent. Think about it. lol It still might be a good design ideal to access the choke from the "operator in use" position, like the pull start ideal they added. Just add the choke handle next to the pull start via cable and lever handle. Don't add it to the right hand controls, no need to make it weigh any more than it needs to be, add it to the left side near the pull start. that way if it is a cold fall day, and you talk a little too long, you can choke in operator position and not have to take it off to go back to work.

Chad Whitmire that’s great longevity out of that redmax shows you take care of your equipment. The ECHO is an absolute beast of a blower. It’s big but comfortable on your back. Does put some strain on your tube side arm after long periods but to me that’s with all big blowers after long periods

Here's a question since I'm not in the lawn care business: How do I go about getting a demo of each unit to make a decision? I live outside of Atlanta and there's a few places like Northern Tool and Home Depot...but I have no idea how that phone call goes or who it goes to...?

@Robert Shelton I have both the Echo PB8010 and Stihl BR800C. I doubt you would be disappointed with either blower but the Echo is now a PB9010 replacing the PB8010 and even more powerful than before with both higher CFM at 1110 and wet leave pushing MPH at 220 closing the MPH gap on the Stihl BR800 at 239 MPH and well over the Stihl’s 912 CFM. My vote would be PB9010 with the 5 year homeowner warranty.

The $50 lower price tag for Echo is outwieghed by the fuel efficiency of the STIHL. At 25 hours of use, the STIHL uses about $60 less in fuel. But I agree with the statement made at the end - go with whoever gives you the best dealer support. Hard to quantify the value there, but any landscaper knows you will see those people a lot and the time and convenience and just lack of headaches you have to deal with when you need servicing or sales support is worth almost any amount of dollars saved.

Finally! Someone compared the blowers as to wet leaves. I tried out the Echo and one thing I didn't like was the hose was very stiff and took some effort to swing back and forth which doesn't surprise me because we ran Echo for years and all of them were the same way. We recently switch to Sthil and run BR700's and so far they've been great blowers with only the recommended valve adjustment done once. Another reason for us to switch everything to Sthil was that we had a Echo PB770 that was literally a few weeks over the warranty and the motor sized and our dealer basically said too bad after buying thousands of dollars of Echo tools over the years so we went elsewhere.

How much does br 800 run?

    • @marcusd6096
      @marcusd6096 4 роки тому

Depends on which one you get. I was at a stihl supplier 2 days ago and there were like 3 different br 800's . An br 800 X ; br 800 C ; and a br 800bh I believe(don't quote me on the bh part). But the br 800 starts at 599.00 as of this post, the other models start in the 600's. So all will run you 640.00 and up minimum after taxes.

8010 and BR800 are both pretty new, hard to tell which will be more reliable in the longrun. I've heard of landscapers seeing 3,000 hours out of some BR600's, hopefully the 800 will be similar.
All in all I'd say you can't go wrong with either one. The stihl does seem like a smoother running engine with less vibration, which goes a long way with the life of the engine.

Stihl blowers need larger fuel tanks. My Redmax blowers go almost an hour longer before refueling. It's difficult to see the fuel level in the tank also. The fuel tank is my only complaint. The performance is close to the big 2 strokes but more fuel efficient and quieter(or is it just a lower pitch?). Perhaps more durable. I have an ancient BR600 that's still making money.

stihl is excellent and I own a stihl pole hedger, stick edger, hand held
blower and string trimmer but as far as the br800 and echo 8010 there
is no comparison in power. The echo has more power period and if you

My two sons are in their 7 TH. year in the landscaping business. They must have over 30 small machines, hand, backpack blowers, chainsaws, weed wackers, and hedge trimmers etc. The number of Stihl vs Echo is night to day. At this point, they probably would not take a Stihl machine if you gave it. The breakdown rate is crazy. The Echo was only one and it was fixed on their 5 year warranty. Echo all the way !
