I am not even a guitar player I play the keyboard but have been obsessed with Stevie Ray Vaughan since day one and this video is pure gold for studying his technic (as I found out that some of his tunes sound great with a fender Rhodes sound). Thank you very much for your time 10/10 quality lesson.
Srv is a genius the more you watch him or break down a song the more you like him it’s hard enough to write and play good music like this let alone the way his right hand played it. Insanely difficult coming from a guy who has only been playing 8 months of course but I’m sure players playing for longer would agree with me he’s a wizard 🧙♂️
This lesson really helps explain how you can improvise with pentatonic shapes and major / minor chords....really made it 'click' for me. Many thanks Alex!
I never knew what my guitar teacher was talking about. He’d say one day Donnie you’re gonna say “that’s what pat was talking about “. He was so right. Love this lesson
Such a great breakdown and the structure makes it even better. Chord names and scale names and breaking it up by section with play-throughs is so efficient and easy to find parts. Thank you!
You're the best guitar teacher in the World and on UA-cam period. I bought the lesson yesterday I was up late 😂 I can't believe you got me playing SRV my Fender Stratocaster never sounded so good! I never sounded so good! I'm 55 years old I can't believe it LoL.. Your method of teaching is the best around and so easy to understand I will be learning more of you songs after I get all this down using the SRV grip and doing my major & minor scales I'm getting down good it's the thumb bass picking before the licks I'm struggling on man that's tuff 😂 it will come in time. Thanks Man you Rock!!
looooovvvveee that you put the tabs at the same time that we see you play it. it helps to learn to read tabs. AND I dont need to go back with the video to see stuff. man aaalllll teacher's on you tube should do this. OMG. thanks.
As a hobbyist guitar player, I know I will never reach this level and I'm OK with that. I respect people who can reach this kind of level and thumbs up and sub for sure!!! I' m happy when I can play the backing track around a camp fire :)
La guitarra no sería tan bella sin alguien que las tocara como SRV, J. Hendrix...pero tampoco sería tan bella sin alguien que las enseñar como ud. que buen tema
Alex, thank you for posting this great tutorial. I am without a job at the moment, but as soon as I get my first paycheck you're on my list. Also, thanks for the Little Wing tutorial, masterful lesson. I look forward to seeing more from you. Thank you!
What's up? That was quite a piece of work breaking down this one, I commend you. I remember when you did Daydream by Robin Trower and I thought that was hard. You do exceptional lessons, thank you. Peace.
Great tutorial! I’m just about six minutes in. But you skipped right over arguably one of the best blues notes of all time, ha ha. When you were going over Box 1 in F#. You got the first one, and I know you know the second one. I just don’t want others to miss out. So those that might not already know, add that third note to the G string with that minor pentatonic. The octave to the first blues note, A string third fret. 🤘🏻😝🎸
Excellent lesson Alex! Love this so much! Purchased your complete course, downloading now as I type! Going to be very busy the next couple of weeks ;-) All the best and keep it up!
Great lesson dude- you've done an amazing job of explaining the different parts. Keep up the good work. (PS how can people click on thumbs down for a free lesson that is this good??)
E flat... Stevie himself played with very heavy strings his high e was a 13...that's should be a clue how heavy...played with cables, had to have had massive strength in those fingers...incredible.
mate...may not be the 1st here but I'm guessing as I've just purchased the full course online I'm the 1st there? :-) I've been waiting for this seems like forever. ..thanks Alex
I would disagree. It's a difficult song to remember for sure and I have a couple videos on this song. But he does break down those little intricacies that are difficult to catch in other lessons. Songs like this ya gotta take a shot at it till you've had enough then take a stab at it later. You'll get further. Your brain gets exposed and when you take that break subconsciously your brain will develop that information without you even aware. I know this song is frustrating but don't give up. At a minimum there is good stuff that will help your playing. I don't mean to be a bug but I know how much of a bastard this seemingly slow and easy song should be. It's good stuff. All of SRV seems it should be easier. .it pisses me off but at myself. But I get so much out of it because it's the shiznit when it comes to getting those blues riff that are so cool. You'll get it and don't give up..

That's what it's really all about! You got it!
I never knew what my guitar teacher was talking about. He’d say one day Donnie you’re gonna say “that’s what pat was talking about “. He was so right. Love this lesson
Awesome playing! Imagine SRV played this tricky rhythm and sang at the same time!
omg, one of srvs greatest songs. like instantly!
Such a great breakdown and the structure makes it even better. Chord names and scale names and breaking it up by section with play-throughs is so efficient and easy to find parts. Thank you!
What a great channel, this guy needs more subs for all the hard work he is doing and bringing music 🎶 to the world

What is the tension of the strings used in this guitar?
I'm guessing you mean what tuning if so it's in Eb
E flat... Stevie himself played with very heavy strings his high e was a 13...that's should be a clue how heavy...played with cables, had to have had massive strength in those fingers...incredible.
How do you get that tone?
oh thank you Alex!
mate...may not be the 1st here but I'm guessing as I've just purchased the full course online I'm the 1st there? :-) I've been waiting for this seems like forever. ..thanks Alex
Thank you very much for the support, Kevin! Appreciate it! Enjoy the lesson!
great. cheers!
is it tuned down half step?
Yes, it is.
Those who disliked this have some jealousy issues. This is a great song and lesson.
Thanks
And the Solo? Where is it?
I’m so sad my hands are too damn small to do the thumb thing, I loose pressure on the high e and B strings 😔

Lots of Hendrix based licks
B
Learning starts at 1:08 ..... you're welcome
Thanks man
nice lesson but you really did not covered the licks you played and you skip them so fast.
you have to get used to that in some lessons some of the best lessons you need to stop and analyze
when you progress it is easier to do so Cheers!
I can never follow this guys lessons. Takes 7 minutes to start then it just weird. Anyone is fine. Not guitar force
Worst lesson ever to fast
