The Moral Letter to Lucilius are a collection of 124 letters which were written by Seneca the Younger at the end of his life, during his retirement, and written after he had worked for the Emperor Nero for fifteen years. (These Moral Letters are the same letters which Tim Ferriss promotes in the Tao of Seneca)

Seneca brought me some joy during times of adversity. I found him while I lost everything I tried to grasp. I felt life had no meaning unless I got m way. But the joy in quiet study of philosophy, being detached from the crowd, finding joy in myself rather than outside, not relying on fortune, being settled and content by the bare necessities as a safeguard to hard times ahead, the shortness of life and how I used to spend my days so poorly... All of these lessons made me admire Seneca. For anone who is in pain, I suggest you read all of these letters, as well as "On Tranquility of Mind" and "The Enchiridon" by Epictetus.

Exactly - was he a stoic or epicurean?
