It really is impressive. Marko is a bloody Rock God. He has so many capabilities. You MUST see NW cover/tribute to the Pink Floyd song High Hopes. Excellence! Many other NW songs Marko is amazing in as well like Kiss while your lips are still red and The Islander, among others.

We all knew that Tarja would a great job with this - it's right up her alley as an opera style singer. The real surprise here is Marko - who expected him to be up on a G5 with that much power towards the end? That's just unreal. Also, the end parts are in the key of G - the original was in E so they are two full steps above the original. That's just insane.

Catalan branch of the NW army here! Tarja (Tar-ya) was amazing the same way Floor is and Annette was (I'm not a fan of her) but the 3 of them helped to make Nightwish great.go for Wishmaster, sounds great!

This concert in generally the ending of the early era and a climax of it. To me the second best concert ever done by them. And truly the best live version of this song which NW tuned to fit their style. Note how well they act this too. Sad that Marco, Jukka and Tarja are not there anymore. All the first five albums including demo and original early era stuff is for her and Marco but also some other male singers before Marco (even Tuomas).

I've see all the reactions on you tube for this song (Hundreds), and you were the first to mention Empu guitar stance and running around the stage like Quasimodo as always. His powerful "chunk" guitar has enormous effect on this song not to mention the "arpeggio" shred, on the finale. Keep up the good work !!

This was the very end of Tarja's run with Nightwish, the last show in fact. Try something older, like "Deep Silent Complete", or "Walking in the Air" (another cover, from The Snowman) from the "From Wishes to Eternity" concert video.
*In which Hazel proceeds to post an epic comment of epicness. Because Nightwish is worth it.* I was extraordinarily lucky to see the band in this incarnation twice. Not to mention one of the luckiest people on the planet to see them (the first time) in an extremely small venue, which is probably very doubtful these days unless you're in the USA and possibly not even then. Certainly nobody will ever see them in a venue that small again, ever. Unless it's a surprise gig, perhaps. Everything lined up like it was meant to be. I became friends with a HUGE fan of Nightwish in April 2003, R. I fell in love with the band later that year. I was 18. Thankfully I didn't compare them to Evanescence to his face, only to his girlfriend (close friend of mine at the time), who spluttered and laughed at the same time and said, "Oh God, whatever you do, never ever let him hear you say that! EVER". I was on the phone with her on a dodgy mobile, heard their album playing in the room she was in, and Evanescence was my only reference for female-fronted rock. To say I was clueless would be polite. You're very knowledgeable about music, voices and some female-fronted rock music so avoided it, but many first-time reactors fall into this trap and some members of the Nightwish Army will go all BRING THE WRATH OF THE HEATHEN GODS on their arses. They did that in the real world too. In fairness, it's completely understandable. I always stick up for the reactor though. I was ignorant once. I introduced my baby brother to R - my brother was 14 at the time. My brother fell in love with Nightwish too and a whole host of other metal bands, which was fantastic! I also started exploring other bands and spent a lot of time in Hellraiser, a tiny specialist rock/metal music shop in my city, run by a man with amazing hair. Nightwish began the Once Upon a Tour world tour in May of 2004. R obviously got tickets for a date in England, July 2004, as did his girlfriend and a few of his friends. Sadly I didn't, and I figured all the tickets were gone, they'd been on sale for ages. On the morning of the gig, I just so happened to be in Hellraiser and the guy in there said he still had some tickets left. As the only metal shop in the city, made sense he'd have them to sell, which I know now but didn't then. It was only Nightwish's second time in England, he said this was one reason they hadn't been selling out. Well, I did not take ANY persuading. Somehow (and this was much harder) I also managed to talk my mum into letting my brother come as well. I still don't know how. ETA: I just looked it up and WHAT. It was a Tuesday?!?!?! A school night?? I was able to get my anxious, incredibly controlling and protective mama bear mother to allow her 15 year old baby boy to leave the town with a load of people she didn't know, at no notice whatsoever, on the word of me, someone she knew she couldn't trust to have any more sense than a bean??? (I didn't.) Ok, that's just not normal. XD If you're not already sick enough with envy, they had no support band so it was two hours of pure Nightwish, the venue was certainly not above a 500-capacity club (no I have not misplaced a zero) and my friends and I hung around for ages afterwards round the back, no security, no nothing. Eventually they came out - Tarja slipped past everybody unseen, but I was able to say a few words to Jukka and have my Once inlay signed, and my brother got a picture with him. Meant a lot to him, he'd become quite interested in drumming (our dad's a drummer) and later joined a NWOBHM/thrash band that he played with for a couple of years while doing his A- Levels. Had a lot of fun! Their EP was for sale at Hellraiser (he supported the local scene), which obviously I, as the proud big sis, thought was the coolest thing ever. The gig was SO amazing that I immediately bought tickets for February 2005, when the band would be back in England on the return leg of the tour, as did my brother. So we managed to grab them twice on that last tour with Tarja.
You should check out Floor singing this song on the tv show 'Beste Zangers'. She sings with Henk Poort, who performed the Dutch Phantom for many years :D

She performed a Muse cover in Woodstock 2016, Supremacy and an original, Victim of ritual. She is an amazing artist. She has also done a lot of classical music like Ave Maria, etc.
This concert was my introduction to Nightwish, the dvd, that is... I wish I was actually there in the audience!! The band was awesome and Tarja was mesmerizing! I was hooked. Nemo is my favorite NW song!❤️ You should check out the official vid of that song... so epic!
You are right when referring to "Morticia Addams". Nightwish in the days of Tarja (the band's first 5 albums) had a Gothic influence. This was lost since Anette, the second vocalist. I would like to suggest a reaction to the song "Wishmaster", a live performance recorded on the dvd "End of an era". This entire DVD is incredible.
If you want more Tarja, Nemo is always one of my go-to songs. Annette has some fun, stripped down live versions, and Floor does a good job, but to me, it sounds best when sung by Tarja. (The version from End of an Era concert is a good choice.) Sleeping Sun is another great one.
Next up you should do The Poet and the Pendulum. Two reasons 1) The song has 'Ghost Love Score' level of epicness. 2) You will be able to understand it well because you have been exposed to what Tarja was as a singer and how Tuomas would have felt when she left the band. Poet and the Pendulum takes from a very dark period in Tuomas's life, partially due to Tarja leaving the band. Interestingly, Tarja left/(made to leave) the band right after this very concert that this performance of The Phantom of the Opera is from.
Happens every time, someone pulls this out to hear Tarja, and ends up blown away by Marko. If you want Tarja-era songs, I suggest Walking in the Air from the From Wishes to Eternity show and Wishmaster from End of an Era. Planet Hell is a good Marko/Tarja duet. Also, one of my favorite Tarja songs, sadly without any really good audio live performances, is Beauty of the Beast. I have seen one live clip, but the quality is meh at best, so I'd honestly stick with the studio version for that. If you really want to see baby Nightwish, there's a clip of them doing Sacrament of Wilderness and also Gethsemane on a Finnish tv show from 1999, I think it was Lista or something like that? Funny to see Emppu with short hair and Jukka without his bandana.

Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+ everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out. so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish (many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here) ---------- if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones: (NOT ranked, just listed) 1. As much as I love Floor, this and Slaying The Dreamer will always belong to Tarja in my opinion...Floor has now done Slaying The Dreamer and did a great job of it but I think Tarja's had the edge.

This cover unlike their version of High Hopes is the best version the creator has heard. Mr. Weber's mentioned this is his fav version of Phantom.
We all knew that Tarja would a great job with this - it's right up her alley as an opera style singer. The real surprise here is Marko - who expected him to be up on a G5 with that much power towards the end? That's just unreal. Also, the end parts are in the key of G - the original was in E so they are two full steps above the original. That's just insane.

This concert in generally the ending of the early era and a climax of it. To me the second best concert ever done by them. And truly the best live version of this song which NW tuned to fit their style. Note how well they act this too. Sad that Marco, Jukka and Tarja are not there anymore. All the first five albums including demo and original early era stuff is for her and Marco but also some other male singers before Marco (even Tuomas).

I just found your channel a couple of hours ago, and I like your contents, you've got a new subscriber right here and "like" buttons hitted!😊 Btw I loved the reactions that I saw you did to this epic, extraordinary, legendary band. Curious fact: during this very concert ("End of an Era", it happened in 2005 and was the last time ever the band and Tarja performed together) where is included this outstanding version of The Phantom, Tarja was very sick with severe throat infection. She didn't even know if she'd be able to sing that night, yet she did it marvellously! So if this is not the best she can do, just imagine how damn incredible she is at her best!😍
Well, I enjoy NW's music from all eras (with all lead singers) because they're an incredible band, and although I'm a huge Tarja fan, I respect, support and appreciate all singers who sang with Nightwish as the equally great, amazingly talented artists they are in their own different ways and rights (personal tastes and preferences are just that: personal), for each of them brought special, individual and unique elements to the band that helped them grow, mature and develop their artistic identity. That being said, I'd like to drop down here a list with my songs suggestions by them in Tarja's era, since you reacted more often to NW with Floor (with songs that I generally recommend from her era) and I'm more of an "old school Nightwisher" (although I absolutely LOVE their music in all eras!🤘💘):

Now, since I'm also a Tarja addict😆 hahaha, I followed her solo career far more closely and can assure she's been doing stunning, beautiful solo work too. I just love her so much! To me (and before anyone misunderstands me, I know that's ONLY about my personal preferences and how I personally feel hearing her voice and watching her performances) Tarja is special in many ways. I mean, it's not only her talent and the incredible technical control of her voice resulted from long years of full dedication and hard work, it's also her outstanding stage presence and this mesmerizing "dark sorceress-warrior goddess" kind of energy I get from her; it's her operatic, expressive, rich, strong, dark, powerful yet heavenly and pure voice; and it's the deep emotional magic she's capable of delivering through her renditions. She has always given me goosebumps all over my body within the first seconds of hearing her, bringing tears to my eyes with every breath and touching the depths of my soul💖! I feel like she put an everlasting spell on me since I first listened to her, when I was like 13 or 14! Haha. Like, I won't deny Floor gives me reeeaally good Eargasms, but Tarja gives me full, deep and spiritually magical Eargasms, and makes me feel like I'm 'Walking in the Air'💘A-hem... Sorry about that😜 hahaha.
Anyway, as such a huge Tarja fan that I am, I must present you with her solo works, where she shows much more of her power imo, plus she has much more freedom since she started her solo career, she can compose and write her own songs, play piano, sing however she wants to, and just fully liberate her truest artist soul.
Her solo musical style is quite different from Nightwish, even still having plenty of the symphonic metal elements as guidelines such as some kinds of guitar riffs, the epic orchestral arrangements and her remarkable operatic vocals, but her solo work is much more versatile imo, she incorporates aspects of many other styles and is always experimenting new things in her music, so you never really know what to expect or what she'll do next, AND I find it magnificent!! She's very unique! I love the fact that she just walked her own path and found her "artist self", never trying to copy or recreate her old days with the band, and I absolutely LOVE the results of her choices, I hope you like it too. So, here we go:

It makes me shiver and cry every time! Close to zero reactors pick this performance, but imo more should do it, it's a "forgotten" treasure!😍

I've see all the reactions on you tube for this song (Hundreds), and you were the first to mention Empu guitar stance and running around the stage like Quasimodo as always. I was extraordinarily lucky to see the band in this incarnation twice. Not to mention one of the luckiest people on the planet to see them (the first time) in an extremely small venue, which is probably very doubtful these days unless you're in the USA and possibly not even then. Certainly nobody will ever see them in a venue that small again, ever. Unless it's a surprise gig, perhaps. Everything lined up like it was meant to be. I became friends with a HUGE fan of Nightwish in April 2003, R. I fell in love with the band later that year. I was 18.
Thankfully I didn't compare them to Evanescence to his face, only to his girlfriend (close friend of mine at the time), who spluttered and laughed at the same time and said, "Oh God, whatever you do, never ever let him hear you say that! EVER". I was on the phone with her on a dodgy mobile, heard their album playing in the room she was in, and Evanescence was my only reference for female-fronted rock. To say I was clueless would be polite. You're very knowledgeable about music, voices and some female-fronted rock music so avoided it, but many first-time reactors fall into this trap and some members of the Nightwish Army will go all BRING THE WRATH OF THE HEATHEN GODS on their arses. They did that in the real world too. In fairness, it's completely understandable. I always stick up for the reactor though. I was ignorant once.
I introduced my baby brother to R - my brother was 14 at the time. My brother fell in love with Nightwish too and a whole host of other metal bands, which was fantastic! I also started exploring other bands and spent a lot of time in Hellraiser, a tiny specialist rock/metal music shop in my city, run by a man with amazing hair. Nightwish began the Once Upon a Tour world tour in May of 2004. R obviously got tickets for a date in England, July 2004, as did his girlfriend and a few of his friends. Sadly I didn't, and I figured all the tickets were gone, they'd been on sale for ages. On the morning of the gig, I just so happened to be in Hellraiser and the guy in there said he still had some tickets left. As the only metal shop in the city, made sense he'd have them to sell, which I know now but didn't then. It was only Nightwish's second time in England, he said this was one reason they hadn't been selling out. Well, I did not take ANY persuading. Somehow (and this was much harder) I also managed to talk my mum into letting my brother come as well. I still don't know how.
ETA: I just looked it up and WHAT. It was a Tuesday?!?!?! A school night?? I was able to get my anxious, incredibly controlling and protective mama bear mother to allow her 15 year old baby boy to leave the town with a load of people she didn't know, at no notice whatsoever, on the word of me, someone she knew she couldn't trust to have any more sense than a bean??? (I didn't.) Ok, that's just not normal. XD
If you're not already sick enough with envy, they had no support band so it was two hours of pure Nightwish, the venue was certainly not above a 500-capacity club (no I have not misplaced a zero) and my friends and I hung around for ages afterwards round the back, no security, no nothing. Eventually they came out - Tarja slipped past everybody unseen, but I was able to say a few words to Jukka and have my Once inlay signed, and my brother got a picture with him. Meant a lot to him, he'd become quite interested in drumming (our dad's a drummer) and later joined a NWOBHM/thrash band that he played with for a couple of years while doing his A- Levels. Had a lot of fun! Their EP was for sale at Hellraiser (he supported the local scene), which obviously I, as the proud big sis, thought was the coolest thing ever.
The gig was SO amazing that I immediately bought tickets for February 2005, when the band would be back in England on the return leg of the tour, as did my brother. So we managed to grab them twice on that last tour with Tarja.

This concert was my introduction to Nightwish, the dvd, that is... I wish I was actually there in the audience!! The band was awesome and Tarja was mesmerizing! I was hooked. Nemo is my favorite NW song!❤️ You should check out the official vid of that song... so epic!

You are right when referring to "Morticia Addams". Nightwish in the days of Tarja (the band's first 5 albums) had a Gothic influence. This was lost since Anette, the second vocalist. I would like to suggest a reaction to the song "Wishmaster", a live performance recorded on the dvd "End of an era". This entire DVD is incredible.
If you want more Tarja, Nemo is always one of my go-to songs. Annette has some fun, stripped down live versions, and Floor does a good job, but to me, it sounds best when sung by Tarja. (The version from End of an Era concert is a good choice.) Sleeping Sun is another great one.
Next up you should do The Poet and the Pendulum.
Two reasons
1) The song has 'Ghost Love Score' level of epicness.
2) You will be able to understand it well because you have been exposed to what Tarja was as a singer and how Tuomas would have felt when she left the band. Poet and the Pendulum takes from a very dark period in Tuomas's life, partially due to Tarja leaving the band. Interestingly, Tarja left/(made to leave) the band right after this very concert that this performance of The Phantom of the Opera is from.

Happens every time, someone pulls this out to hear Tarja, and ends up blown away by Marko.
If you want Tarja-era songs, I suggest Walking in the Air from the From Wishes to Eternity show and Wishmaster from End of an Era. Planet Hell is a good Marko/Tarja duet. Also, one of my favorite Tarja songs, sadly without any really good audio live performances, is Beauty of the Beast. I have seen one live clip, but the quality is meh at best, so I'd honestly stick with the studio version for that. If you really want to see baby Nightwish, there's a clip of them doing Sacrament of Wilderness and also Gethsemane on a Finnish tv show from 1999, I think it was Lista or something like that? Funny to see Emppu with short hair and Jukka without his bandana.

(This also comes in a 2011 version, as Tarot did a remake of their first album for their 25th anniversary; interesting to hear due to lineup changes since the original, plus some fun banter at the start of the video, but I prefer the original version, tbh.)
Also Stigmata from 1995, there's a clip of Marko and his brother Zachary (Tarot's lead guitarist) on some Japanese tv show promoting the album and doing an acoustic version of the song, which I also love.

I love every Nightwish singer but I do prefer Tarja singing Wishmaster, The Siren, Kinslayer and Planet Hell (might be a tie with Anette for Planet Hell tbh... but all of them have an awesome rendition of that song, if you'd be willing to do a 3-way reaction checkout for that one)
High Hopes will be the best cover you'll hear. Trust me. Even Pink Floyd fans think it's better than the original.

everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish

Else you can listen to pretty much everything Floor Jansen and Morissette Amon did, they both can make every cover their own and normally also better than the original 😉

You have to listen to Floor Jansen (from Nightwish) and Henk Poort singing the Phantom of the opera at a dutch television show called "beste zangers", it is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
As much as I love Floor, this and Slaying The Dreamer will always belong to Tarja in my opinion...Floor has now done Slaying The Dreamer and did a great job of it but I think Tarja's had the edge.
