Tarja is the original vocalist of the band. Of Nightwish's 9 studio albums, the first 5 were recorded with her, the next 2 with Anette and the last 2 with Floor. The performance you just saw was recorded in 2005 and released on the dvd "End of an era" in 2006. This is the last show that Tarja did with the band. Despite being an old performance, Nightwish decided to post it on its own channel just 1 year ago, after one of the unofficial videos posted by a fan surpassed 70 million views. Good reaction. TARJA is amazing and with NW was the perfect combinarion.
That is the first time we have gotten to hear her sing, we have only heard Floor up to this point. This was an amazing performance. Really getting to a good idea of the band, but still very general. It's exciting to see a bit more here and there.

Considered one of the best in the genre and perhaps the biggest inspiration for many other women who have since followed the same path.
In this same concert watch the songs Slaying the dreamer, the siren or wishmaster.
If you want to see Tarja's best performances with NW, I suggest the concert "From the wishes to eternity" remastered version, as it is a concert from the year 2000. Songs like wanderlust, the pharaoh soils to orion, Swanheart, the Beauty and the beast, walking in the air, for example, are amazing.
@@emiltonramalho6468 +1 to "From "Wishes to Eternity". I would also add "Deep silent complete" to the list as a song that has never been sung by Floor so far, and else Tarjas versions of "Dead Boys Poem" and "She is my sin" are also just amazing.

Loved this reaction! It always makes me nostalgic, being a 'original' Nightwish fan.. I feel sadness thinking about Tarja not being a part of the band anymore, but mostly Jukka leaving due to health issues and then, probably the worst loss for Nightwish, Marco leaving!!! I still can't deal with that loss! He was so incredible
Marco seems irreplaceable. As a new fan I can imagine how the changes have affected the fans. We haven even seen that many videos yet, and I dont know how it could be the same. BUT in saying that, it's exciting! Because it won't be the same.
@@CaptainFaceBeard They were still great and epic when saw them live few weeks ago! Ofc it feels something is missing beause Marco was in band so long, but Floor can carry by herself quite well. Troy also does some singing now (tho he is very different), gives Floor bit of a break during concerts.
Marco didn't come onboard until Century Child was released, it was only Tarja on Oceanborn and Wishmaster and I remember thinking "hmm not sure do I like this guy being here"
Can you believe he could even hit higher note in early 90s but vocal surgery (which he later found out he didn't even need,, could have fixed with vocal therapy) botched his voice a bit.
I don't know have you checked more of his work, he was pioneer of heavy metal in Finland in the 80s with his band called Tarot, you can see his lovely, insane babyface in this original 1986 vid of Wings of Darkness

Nightwish's 3 singers:
1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's dark classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does back when with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish

Tarja has her own stage performance/presence, but the focus is on the entire band (much more respectful), unlike with floor, where the focus is almost entirely on her, and also, Phantom of the Opera isn't about that much showmanship, so you're not seeing more of Tarja's performance/presence (love how the camera work and Tarja worked together, with her ducking down, seeing Marcus as he delivered his singing, and then Tarja stands back up, seeing her face back in the camera as Marco's part ends and hers begins again, Tarja is really such a team player, as she could have had all the focus upon herself, like Floor gets, but instead she chooses to give the entire band the respect and focus that they too deserve, it's not all about Tarja, like it is with Floor, despite how good Tarja is and thus how she could be the entire focus with nightwish, as is Floor with nightwish)
there's other songs, where Tarja was way way way more stage performance/presence/showmanship, including hair windmills, rocking an invisible guitar along with empuu rocking his guitar, along with her doing her squatting too as she sings and taps her foot/leg to it, as she's swinging those hips too, along with her getting the crowd involved as well too, and etc stuff, you got to watch way more songs, to really see her amazing stage presence/performance and showmanship, as Phantom of the Opera is likely the one song with the least of that stuff, due to the nature of the song itself, being about their singing (contrasting and then cacophonous harmonous duet, nothing can compete with Tarja and Marco voices duet'ing), though Marco and Tarja had a bit of showmanship and fun snuck into it, with Marco pointing to his face and Tarja's facial expression reactions, while both song their parts

This whole concert was amazing. There are quite a few stand out songs with both Tarja and Marko. Planet Hell, The Siren, and Wish I Had An Angel. There's also the Pink Floyd cover, High Hopes, which is a solo for Marko.

Tarja's voice is a force of nature.

Floor is powerful as hell. It is impossible to say who has more power. Tarja's operatic voice has great projection, and it sounds very airy and "real", where as Floor's operatic voice seems somehow artificial for me. I still like it, but not as much as Tarja's. Tarja also has some mystic dark timbre, which make it so unique. Floor's belting is out of this world thou.
I've sometimes asked, what people mean with "powerful"?
Because, you that is not the same thing as loud.
In fact powerful in a voice is a feeling, same as in a powerful speech. It's an emotional thing.
What one regards powerful, then is very subjective.
@@NightwishArena I would say Floor is just way more versatile as anybody else and she can do nearly every cover besser than the original, but there are some really great singers who she just can't beat in their specific genre, Tarja is one of them, the others i know so far are Ann Wilson and Lara Fabian. Floor still does them great justice however.

Great reaction. This live version is my favorite version of the song ever. Once you hear it it is hard to go back to original. Glad you caught the Jack Sparrow. You come to hear Nightwish you are drawn in by Tarja’s voice then blown away by Marco’s voice. Keep up the cool reactions.
Hahaha, we of all people are gonna pick out pirate stuff. On Saturday we watched the "End Of An Era" show on Twitch. This week I am going to remove the one blocked video and upload it again. I have heard 2 versions now, and this one is my favorite.

@@CaptainFaceBeard Yeah, because people want to hear how songs compare to other bands doing the same song. I don't actually mind that, I listen many metal cover vocalists/bands, and everyone has their angle, brings their own stuff, so what do I care how someone else does it? Marco is an awesome vocalist, one of the best male vocalists in metal, but due the subgenre, foreign name and location far away, not well known in North America. Nightwish isn't his only game, if you haven't yet heard Tarot or Delain with Marco, then that'll be something you might consider, after High Hopes.

The one I use is a Korg as well, they make excellent quality products. Mine is much simpler, it's a MIDI Controller, it only can make sound if hooked up to a Virtual Instrument.
Video was buffering because it couldn't take all the Nightwish goodness at once. Great voices. There is a YT vid with Floor doing a Phantom duet, that's a different story.

Andrew Lloyd Weber can’t sue you. Because this song like most of his and Tim Rice’a so-called song are a rip-off of others artist. This is a rip off of pink Floyd and some other 70’s singer songwriter type song.
