The Kirstin/Mitch duet is my favorite part of the song! His angelic voice sings the words of the prayer and her powerful repetition push them all the way to heaven...
Got to give kudos to Scott on this for his Italian - it is stunning! Mitch and Kirstie are suburb as well as Matt’s bass. Kevin just blows it out of the water with his beatboxing! Can’t get any better than this❤️
Kirstin (Kirstie rhymes with thirsty, as she says) does a brilliant job. I think maybe you've listened to her in other songs and visualise her as a pop singer. Listening to the song as a whole, they move seamlessly between the duets of Mitch and Scott, Scott and Kirstie, then Mitch and Scott. And don't let us forget the extraordinary way Kevin and Matt elevate the song to new levels. It really is out of this world.
I loved Kirstie's part. She did it magnificently. Your the first reactor to say anything negatively about that part. Heard them say that Scott made it sound a little pop but that is the way they changed it to fit them. Loved your reaction other than the Kirstie comment.
Thanks for the respectful comment 😊 i didnt pick up on pop with Scott but your not the first person to bring it up.. Will sus it out when i listen to it again 😁
I think you’re going to have to listen to it again, no pausing, no interruptions, to actually appreciate Kirstie’s amazing part in this beautiful song.
Agreed too many pauses and too long in between. I follow many original reactors on here, and some never pause, or if they do, it's for a few seconds, and usually only once.
Absolutely beautiful. Love Mitch and Kirsten but I want to acknowledge Scott also. I love his strong powerful voice. That run he did was amazing. Yes he is a beautiful man. Great reaction. New subscriber from Georgia
Respect your opinion, but, yeah, Kirstie's mighty exchange with Mitch is one of my favourite parts of this cover. Scott's Italian is up there, too! An all-round masterpiece, imho.
I personally LOVED Kirstin in this, and thought it added a lot to the song to have her do her thing. I loved Mitch and Scott too, obviously, and agree 100% with you when it comes to how amazing THEY were, but yeah... maybe the fact that I am not that fond of the original just made it easier for me to like that change 🤷♀️
We're just going to have to agree to disagree on Kirstin's duet with Mitch. I love the contrast of her Broadway belt and Mitch's "angel voice," and it seems as though she's amplifying his message. And this is a pop song too, my friend. It was written for an animated film.
Mitch was teased in high school because of his high voice. Now look at him!!! hahaha to all those scoffers. Loved your reaction. Scott's boyfriend, Mark, also thinks he is a dreamboat. Yes...you are entitled to your opinion about Kirstin's part with Mitch. You are the 2nd reactor I have heard that has this opinion. But glad you liked most of it.
She kills it in every other part during the song but that one moment didnt do much for me. Think im use to the classic/original version so much that pop introduction sounds odd to me

Scott has the stage presence. In SPADES. Matt is today's Jimmy Somerville. Pure crystal. This was arranged to be a Scott/Mitch duet. I don't think its fair to criticize Kristin for doing her job. If you need to criticize, I'd go with the bass. Either the song was arranged badly, or he doesn't have the chops [it's hard to compete with Avi].
Yes, ButterScott is an absolute dreamboat! You're absolutely entitled to your opinion regarding Kirstie's solo lines here, and you're not the first reactor I've heard say it, but I respectfully disagree. And while Scott sang beautifully in Italian, it was with a definite pop style, so Kirstie wasn't the one to introduce that element here. For me, Mitch and Kirstie's call and response section is the best part of the performance. Thanks for sharing!

I think in the case of The Prayer, he's getting into acting the part of some innocent lost in the woods, and looking into the camera would break the "fourth wall." Personally, I love Kirstin's belting in this arrangement, I think it's maybe one of the best times I've ever heard her. It is definitely obvious how much she has vocally grown over the years.
I appreciate your enthusiasm BUT... 1. you stated that's the first time you heard that part (Scott's) sung in English??? He sang that part in Italian! 2. Just as Mitch answered Scott's Italian Kirstie answered Mitch. I completely disagree with your take on Kirsten's part. I love Mitch but this isn't Mitch and the Pentatonix. All five are completely needed to produce that other worldly sound and all five normally get their chance to shine. You want to deny Kirsten her chance and she blew away her part.
@Daniel T, fyi the part he was talking about never having heard in English (that you stated Scott sang in Italian) is the duet between Scott and Kirsten. The duet between Scott and Kirsten was in English. In the Celine Dion/Andrea Bochelli version, that part was in Italian, therefore it was his first time hearing the lyrics in English.
Well, I love Mitch so much! His voice just pierces my heart. I thought Scott sounded beautifully classical for him. Loved his run at the end. I thought Kirstie sounded gorgeous. She has so much power when she belts. She’s a goal for me when I sing. Of course it wouldn’t be all it was without the foundation of Matt and Kevin ungirding the other three the way they always do. I loved the duet with Andrea and Celine, but this is my new “Best in show”; my favorite version. I adore Mitch’s build to the high note at the end. Such awesome control, tone, and pitch. Virtuosic! Jonathan Antoine was great on BGT. Charlotte was off key. But she got Jonathan up there on stage for which I'm grateful. Besides being a Pentaholic, I am also a Fantoine.
I note this was a year ago so I assume someone has told you that Andrea Bocelli is one of the grfeatest lyric tenors of the century. Mitch, BTW, is an altino tenor.
I saw the Jonathan & Charlotte performances (I believe they reprised it for the finale) of this song back in 2012 when it was broadcast. In typical fashion, Simon covered it in controversy by suggesting that Jonathan should dump Charlotte because she was holding him back. He had to walk that back when they sang again in the finale but of course it was a stunt to begin with. He's nothing if not predictable which is why I've stopped watching those shows. I already knew the song by that time and was frankly bored with it by then but it was an obvious choice to impress the judges and the public and they obviously had talent. It doesn't get much more beautiful than this. Pentatonix is amazing. I completely disagree with your KIRSTIE comment. She brings a different tone and balance to Mitch and Scott.
Totally disagree Sorry, Kirstin and Mitch magnify each other. Watch all the times Kirstin supports Mitch in the background when everyone thinks it's Mitch alone in many of their videos.
I don't really know, if people have noticed, but it really seems like when it's a Christian, or religious song, it seems Kevin definitely wants to be in it.
Everyone has their own opinions. I love PTX and everything they do. (As to the Jonathan and Charlotte video...I saw it and he was good, she was awful) Of course...my opinion.
You need to listen to this again. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I do not hear what you are hearing. I think that 20 seconds in the middle was brilliantly performed. I must have watched at least 30 reactions to this video and there was just one other reactor who said Kirstin’s part was unnecessary. He put out a video two days later apologizing for his negative comments on this video and a few others he reacted to that week. He also said he was intoxicated at the time. Just saying.
Too bad Kirstie's beautiful contribution to this cover didn't please you. Perhaps if you had some musical training, you would appreciate the song more. At least you saved me the trouble of subscribing. Thanks.
Enjoyed your reaction. I agree that Kirsten introduced a strong element of pop, which for me was not necessary. However I am the first to admit that my tastes are seriously unfashionable. Given their audiences it was probably an intelligent choice. The insulted reaction of many of my fellow watchers to your perceived criticism of Kirsty shows that Pentatonix knew what they were doing. They deliberately introduced a pop influence and Kirsten's strong voice is the perfect vector for pop.
@@russellfisher2853 True, but with The Prayer he was singing in a more classical vein than normal, which I really enjoyed. But even so, in the back half of the song he had some pop style riffs and runs. Kirsty's foreground part was strong pop.
@@katherineeasteal662 I actually love her strong belts. Scott was also pop to an extent. It's their style, and I love it. Pentatonix, loved it. And sang and sang, to get this done, just the way They Wanted it. And, like them, and 99.9 percent of the people who have heard it, I also love the arrangement.
I was trying to find a link to check out your patreon but couldn't see it anywhere. Am I missing it, is it super secret, or do you not have it anymore? There are just so many fantastic upgrade to still check out, but I know you said some had been done for patreon because of their copyright hammer happy label, so I was wondering which you'd already done. I think k people tend to have an easier time with getting it through by using live performances (highly recommend the Aha! Live in Singapore). Also, I know some reactors have taken to either using the filter over it or just not playing the video, only the audio. It would also be great to see your reaction to sometheir original songs, especially the newer ones from The Lucky Ones album like: Happy Now, coffee in Bed, Love Me when I don't, and the title track (all of them get me in my feels a good bit). For me, the back and forth with Kirstie and Mitch didn't throw me out, but it felt like it was supposed to be Mitch singing the lead and Kirstie as an echo, but it felt like she almost belted a little too hard on it, it was...not overshadowing Mitch, as such, but competing with him rather than supporting.
Not cool. Kirstin adds to the song, not takes away from the song. Her part with Mitch was just perfection, just like the rest of it. I absolutely disagree with you take on her.
Totally disagree your reaction on Kirstin. She’s fantastic! I’ve watched mAny reactions on this video from a diverse group of reactors and you are the only one who was negative about Kirstin part. It didn’t sound pop to me but I’m not a musician. Are you?
Looks like from the comments that I'm in the vast minority, but I agree with you about Kirstin's duet with Mitch being your least favorite part. It is mine as well. There is some quality about her voice in that part that just isn't pleasing to my ear, it sounds forced (and dare I say shrill?). To be clear, I usually love her voice, just not in that one instance.😊🥰
Really, Seriously? I guess we are all entitled to an opinion. But truth be told, it was done to be a little pop, and Scot started the pop, but Kirstie, as usual added to it with her beautiful powerful belting.
@@russellfisher2853 When I wrote that, I had only heard the song without headphones on, and yes, that was my impression. Since then I've listened to it with headphones, and I don't find her voice shrill at all. Go figure.🤔😊
talk about every member of tbis group. Scott part is for me the part he sings two languages and killed his parts. I don't like mitch fans because they only talk about him and they not talk about other members of the group. Be respetful to other members of the group too.

Yeesh….. You know, I remember when Avengers Endgame came out & EVERYONE was blown away. I talked / listen to just about 250 - 300 reactors and responses. I remember about 9 weeks later, I finally came across someone who thought the movie was crap. He made talking points that, with all do respect, were simply not thought out, as well as statements (not opinions) that simply were not true. To be fair, he did realize this once he watched it again. It was interesting though, to see just how drastically unique his initial takeaway was. That’s kind of what this reaction reminds me of, with the exception that you have made NO statements that weren’t thought out, or false. I must’ve seen about 200 reactions to this song, and yours is the first one I’ve heard with that specific critique on Kirsten. Everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinions, and should not be condemned for it. That said, I would encourage you to listen a few more times and really attempt to understand what they did, and more importantly, why. Regardless, you are NOT wrong just like you are not right. It’s an opinion, and opinions are relative and unique to each individual. To any Pentaholics reading this, please don’t be immature or rude in your comments. To disagree is fine, but I have read a few inflammatory comments that are not in line with what I have come to expect from PTX fans. You are better than that.
Maggie Renee, an Opera singer reactor did not like Mitch's line 'in times when we don't know' (2:05 here) felt it was an odd choice, she is the only vocal teacher etc reactor that had an issue with that part, everyone disagreed in the comments but to each his own. For the most part though our fan base is pretty respectful about differing opinions.

Sorry, Kirstin and Mitch magnify each other. Watch all the times Kirstin supports Mitch in the background when everyone thinks it's Mitch alone in many of their videos.
Absolutely !!!!!
It's rarely talked about,. Kirstin supporting Mitch. Their voices can really blend.
Yes. Dion and Bocelli did the original.
Lookup the sound of silence by pentatonix , its so beautyfull
hey, Schnitzel loves Scott, he isn't going to like Kirstin....
You are so wrong about Kirstie, she nailed it. Listen again!!
I love your intro music. 💖
Please watch MARCELITO PUMOY DO THIS SONG ON THE WISH BUS....you will be amazed...tks..
I loved it but now that I know Kevin can sing I wish they would have had him sing a part
I don't really know, if people have noticed, but it really seems like when it's a Christian, or religious song, it seems Kevin definitely wants to be in it.
PTX don’t do covers, they do Upgrades. You the first person to not like Kirsten.😮😮😮😮😢
You should try some superfruit
Try “Mary did you Know”
Stay with me!! Please......💟💕💕
Everyone has their own opinions. I love PTX and everything they do. (As to the Jonathan and Charlotte video...I saw it and he was good, she was awful) Of course...my opinion.
Fair call 😊
Thanks.
Haha righto mate, thanks for the view and comment 👍
Yes
Enjoyed your reaction. I agree that Kirsten introduced a strong element of pop, which for me was not necessary. However I am the first to admit that my tastes are seriously unfashionable. Given their audiences it was probably an intelligent choice.
The insulted reaction of many of my fellow watchers to your perceived criticism of Kirsty shows that Pentatonix knew what they were doing. They deliberately introduced a pop influence and Kirsten's strong voice is the perfect vector for pop.
Scott also had pop influence.
@@russellfisher2853 Yes, it's a great performance which appeals to a wide audience. I really hope they get a Grammy for it.
OMG you don't even know her name....It's Kirstin NOT Kristen.. and you are so wrong, she was awesome in this.....
okie dokie 😊
So disagree Mitch and Kirsten were perfect
I have to disagree with you. She was incredible. It didn't sound like pop at all to me.
👍😊😄
Maybe clean the wax out of your ears and you'll find her part more important!
Mitch has a beautiful high voice, but to me it is still a male voice. Kirsten's female high is like sparkles in the night sky.
talk about every member of tbis group. Scott part is for me the part he sings two languages and killed his parts. I don't like mitch fans because they only talk about him and they not talk about other members of the group. Be respetful to other members of the group too.
You know don't you that everyone is entitled to write whatever they want and it doesn't have to conform to your requirements? As long as no-one is being offensive you really have no right to dictate what anyone else wants to say. Free speech, you know?
@@Russ_Keith its an opinion mate !! like yours
@@johnwarwick6284 And now there's yours.
@@marshagrant-gibson2905 Funny enough, I just saw her reaction recently. Her issue with that part surprised me even more than the reaction here. It was just… INCREDIBLY unexpected from someone as knowledgeable & musically inclined as she is.
I actually sort of agree about kitsty. But for pa diff reason. Yashe landed the pop sound, but they're a pop band so it's fine. For me tho I loved she and mitch belt battling I felt she was trying too hard to keep up with mitch. Other than that I loved her part. Not many can keep up with mitch and she hung on better than most.
I kinda think when it comes to belting, or whistle notes, it's definitely Mich, trying to keep up with Kirstie.
Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Mine is to never listen to your "takes" again. She was wonderful. Have a nice day.
As far as who's more handsome, i think Mitch and Matt are the top 2 !!.....Scott is nice and Kevin is nice too, but Mitch and Matt are my chosen 2 hotties !!.......and i will be one of the few who agrees with you about Kirstie's part as well......it just wasn't needed for her to repeat what Mitch sang.......plus, it sounded to me like she was trying to outdo Mitch and NOBODY can do that !!.....Mitch is my fav and will always be my fav !!.....however to be fair, she is great in other songs, but she should have stayed in the background for this one.
Seriously? It's the way the song is written. Kirstie shouldn't be criticized, for being much better at belting, and having a more powerful voice, especially when this is the way they choose to sing this song.
@@russellfisher2853 she was trying too hard dude.....this isn't a rock song.....sounded to me like she was straining.
@@cindyshawver9986 Kirstie straining? Lol. Actually, she can belt stronger. Well we all have our opinion. So you think all the guys are great, and then Kirstie? They are all great. But without Kirstie, they would be just another good Acapella group. Her with her beautiful strong female voice, makes them stand out from others, and with the guys, makes them who they are. Which is a great collection of talent.
I think when Kirstin and Mitch sang together she overpowered him to much for me. As you said LOVE the song regardless.
It was done this way purposely. I certainly don't, or won't blame her, for using her beautiful, powerful belting talent.
@@russellfisher2853 I agree I would never blame her. I am not a singer or musician can you explain what you mean by this was done on purpose. As I say I love this song and her voice. Just trying to learn more.
@@TitanSummers Amanda, I just meant mich Scot, and all of them know what a powerhouse Kirstie is when she belts, she's really amazing, with her strong voice. They all practice this, as well as sing the song several times with themselves, until they got it, to where they liked it the best, including Mich and Kirstie's part. Pentatonix loved it, and I did also, as well as 99.9 percent of those who have heard the song.
@@russellfisher2853 I see what you mean and agree. Thankyou for answering my question nicely.😁
