- Kawhi Leonard is going to be out again indefinitely AND THE SEASON HASN'T EVEN STARTED!! He didn't play for Team USA because the Clippers staff wanted him to rehab for the NBA season only for that to end up being all for naught. The Clippers have been waiting for Kawhi to get healthy for it seems like years and all the load management and all the skipped back to back games amounted to absolutely nothing but regret and a team who's now missing both Westbrook and Paul George and now Kawhi himself.

This is why I can't ever consider Kawhi to be a top 5 small forward ever even with his accomplishments and how damn good he is. The in-between years just have too many holes due to missed time that it's hard to evaluate his overall body of work. It's come to the point that when we discuss Kawhi, we wind up talking more about what he *can* do rather than what he actually did.

I’ve been a spurs fan my whole life. It hurt when he turned his back on the city of San Antonio (literally everyone in that city loves the team and they loved Kawhi). It hurt because he was the future and when he left it caused a lot of damage to the spurs organization. It hurt when he won a championship a year after leaving. I had a lot of anger towards him but now I just feel sad for Kawhi. He’s a shell of his former self. His whole body is ruined and everyone is laughing at him (rightfully so). I don’t even know how much cartilage is left in his knees now. Not even his uncle can help him now

I’m a huge Kawhi fan and it makes me so upset how much his legacy has become ruined ever since joining the clippers. People forgot real quick just how good he really is. He went from respected top 5 player to a laughing stock and meme machine. It’s tragic he wanted to go home so bad just to waste his prime away and become injury prone, plus sitting out for no reason.

I wouldn't be shocked if they do a few studies and realize that load management actually harms injury recovery and resistance. The body adjusts to what stress you put on it. If it's constantly having up and down amounts of stress it can't adjust and will fail.

Long-term load management bringing physical success works against science. If you aren't regularly using the physique you train to have for a career/lifestyle, it'll fade as the body sort of deletes it over time like an unused app due to the high energy (memory) it takes up being around.
You can't not train and duck the NBA's frequency for playing games and be surprised that your body lasts like the season and playoffs are like 50 games total. Use it or lose it.

In high school Kawai's father died at his car wash business,- by gun violence. Kawai was playing a ball game when it happenned. He got the call from his mom and she said his dad wanted him to play. Kawai played that game while his dad died. And he never was the same after. He hates people but he loves basketball. Him and his dad built up and had promises together for kawai to be in the nba. Oh there the story of why kawai seems so off and weird weird and emotionless on the court.

For those who can’t seem to make sense of it, Kawhi clearly has had lower body degenerative issues for at least 10 years now. He’s just a slower play version of Derek Rose, Brandon Roy, Grant Hill to an extent etc.
Guys with his prognosis rarely get the kinda run he has. He’s built like an Ox and obviously works out and tries to maintain. But he doesn’t even wear knee braces or sleeves which speaks to the idea the problem is utterly structural and he deals with neverending swelling responses and weakness in his lower joints.

Kawhi is an example of not using injury as an excuse for your team losing. It's a Team sport. If you over leverage your hopes on a few players then bad things can easily happen. One player having 5 to 6 players worth of contract is foolish if its not attached to them actually playing.
Early in Kawhi's career I really thought he had the components to become a memorable great. But at the time this issue wasn't yet apparent. Unfortunately it can undermine pretty much all the other successes and accolades.
