Whatsup Darren. Would you suggest still using Ledger or transferring my BTC over to Jade? I haven’t updated the firmware for my ledger since that recovery service announcement
I would slowly start to transfer. As long as you don't update there is no rush. Ledger has worked good up to this point. And they are back tracking on it.
I'm holding out for a coldcard q1, but in the meantime I'm looking at a jade wallet. Would there be any issues importing jade into coldcard in the future? I know they use different derivation paths.
Yeah no problem, I originally recorded it in the video, but was 8 extra minutes so deleted it. Ledger came out with an option in cloud back up of shards of your seed. You needed to id yourself to use this. It was found that through this shamir backup, it was possible for ledger to collude with the other 3rd party to move your funds. It was supposed to be coming on a new firmware update, however they recently backtracked and now moving to open source because of the backlash. The problem with ledger is that it was closed source, meaning we cannot know forsure if this feature is on the device or not.
Yes no problem, the Blockstream Jade is open source and can be used on a wide verity of wallets! If block stream green no longer exists you just connect it with a different wallet software.
I would say if you are willing to throw down $250 to get everything needed then yes. I think it is the bluetooth as well that makes it less secure. I think the blockstream green is the second best, a good choice if you dont want to spend 10% more than your stack is worth.
I found the Jade pretty easy to set up, maybe if it was with a different wallet than Blockstream Green could be a challenge. T is seamless to use also.
The Coldcard Mk4 is pretty neat because it uses 2 secure elements, not just one. So neither of them have your entire key

@@dhoneysett As they should smh. But alright sounds good. Thanks man
Excellent mate !
Thanks for a referral link, they ended up giving me free shipping as well as 10% off.
Awesome!! Liking the jade!

Yeah not sure what you mean, guess you want to import the seed to the cold card? Instead of just making a.new one?
@@dhoneysett yes but they use different derivation paths
@@Mattes50A05 I did see that Blockstream had an update the other day to.maybe include this problem. I'll check it out and get back to you.
Are these still your top 3, any new wallets worthy of sneaking in your top 3?
Still like the trezor. The new Model 3 is pretty good. Others I have not tested to the fullest.
I missed the ledger news. Can you give more context. Thanks

What happens if blockstream company / app is down? How is it possible to access your crypto?

In your opinion is the cold card worth the extra security over the jade ? Does the qr system make it less secure?

I hated the Blockstream Jade set up experience. Trezor Model T is good then Cold Card next

@@dhoneysett yeah the Blockstream Green app wasn't user friendly at all but I figured it out.
Hey buddy :)
