Their multi-sig solution in Green is also very accessible.
If you want to use it statelessly (so load a seed ever time) then yes. The whole "Blind Oracle" thing is totally transparent to the user if you just use the one offered by Blockstream.
You could either import you recovery seed from the Ledger into the Jade or generate a new one and manually send the funds. In terms of Eth, you could need a separate device. (So you could get something like a bitbox02 ua-cam.com/video/9dBSQVdfsmc/v-deo.html that can just do both)
So if you restore phrase from ledger to blockstream your all set? That sounds simpler than sending with fees. Did I understand correctly? Thanks in advance
Haven't done a video yet. The documentation is here help.blockstream.com/hc/en-us/articles/12800132096793-Set-up-a-personal-blind-oracle and they also have a beta app that can be used with Umbrel nodes
@@CryptoGuide What do you mean by running it statelessly? As I've seen in the video, you need to insert PIN even while setting up a wallet, which means server must be involved from the very beginning? Is there a way to use Jade ONLY with seedphrase (and passphrase), completely bypassing use of PIN?
Is it possible to simply memorize the seed and still use the device airgapped? Eliminating the need for a physical copy of the seed or qr code. Im concerned with exposing the qr code or having it stolen.
If you want, but relying on your memory is a guaranteed way to lose funds. If you are want to add a layer of protection to your seed backups, this can be done through a BIP39 passphrase. (Which you would also back up, though not together with the seed)
You will need to use some wallet software to be able to send funds, as you need to create the transaction itself. (Even if you are signing via QR codes or something)
@@CryptoGuide To clarify, can you have a seed for one wallet in the device and then also access another wallet on occasion by scanning its QR? If so, scanning the QR of the other wallet for a one time transaction approval wouldn't erase the previously stored wallet, would it? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.
Basically if you use it in stateless mode, you load a seed or SeedQR that is only used for that session. (So until you lock it, etc) This temporary seed doesn't overwrite anything.
Firstly, Trezor actually does come with firmware pre-installed. (You can watch my DIY video for Trezor One to understand which part this is) Secondly, the model for secure boot on ESP32 is basically that once enabled, it will only run firmware signed with a specific key. So basically if you download and validate an official blockstream firmware and flash it using the Python scripts (Or just the official app) then if the device accepts the firmware, you can be sure that it was initialized with Blockstream's signing key.
can I use a jade blockchain and recovery seed from a ledger and bring over just bitcoin too the jade and keep the same recovery seed for the other non bitcoin tokens and keep the ledger or is that not a safe idea?
Hey great video sir. So with jade, there are 2 ways of storing your recovery phrase - either as 12 words or by SeedQR? And the way you store it doesn't affect your ability to use QR mode correct?
What would you need to do to lose the access to your wallet? I.e. what to avoid in order NOT to lose the private key? Does the Jade Wallet prevent me from accidentally wiping the device while there are private keys stored on it? I am less worried about someone stealing my BTC, more about me accidentally blocking myself from the private key(s) stored on the wallet... (because of me not fully understanding something about the wallet.)
I don't know what I messed up, I thought I selected single wallet and ended up with a address starting with 3. Did I get a boring legacy segwit, I thought it had native segwit option... What is the average difference in fees between legacy and native ?
Thanks this was very helpful, just one thing confused me, you can do a firmware update interacting via mobile app, don't necessarily needs a desktop version of blockstream green ?
Good video. I have a Green wallet. There are 2 wallets on the Green app. One says “wallet” and the other says “Jade” I sent Bitcoin to Jade and it shows up in both wallets as the same transaction. Do I need 2 wallets??
So why is it in there twice? Did you do something like import your seed directly in to green? (So does one of the two allow you to send without confirmation on the Jade?)
Nice video. I have a ledger and looking to switch. This seems like the best choice. Tired of the ads ledger has and only care for BTC. If I make the switch how would you go about moving funds from ledger to jade? Just send the entire balance as a single UTXO? Or could I buy a jade and enter my 24 word pass phrase from my ledger in the jade. Is that possible? Another thing I like with ledger app is I am able to easily buy on cash app and send to my cold wallet without the device connected. Am I able to still do that with Jade? Thanks!
Thanks. In terms of your questions. You can simply use your 24 word seed from the Ledger with the Jade and it will "just work". :) Regardless of the Bitcoin wallet, you don't need any hardware or software to be online to receive a transaction. (Though there are security trade offs if you don't verify the address on the hardware device.)
The private keys never leave the Jade, but the Jade also doesn't store the decryption keys for the wallet data on-device, but rather stores it on the blind Pin-Server. (The phone being hit is irrelevant for this step, as the Jade is communicating through the phone, not to the phone)
@@CryptoGuide correct me if I’m wrong 1st step- pull up XPUB on the Jade “shows me QR” 2nd step- open green app, add wallet, view mode only. 3rd step- scan the QR Right? I tried by checking the biometrics box and without checking the box neither works. This sucks
So does it add correctly if you attempt to add it to something like Blue Wallet? (Basically to work out if you are messing up the workflow on-device or having an issue with green itself)

I'm actually looking for a tutorial to use Jade with Electrum Desktop wallet, Electrum Personal Server, and my own node, which I've had running with Ledger on a dedicated PC successful
Ledger hasn't compromised any seeds at this time, the concern is that the new recovery feature will allow this in the future. (With the new Nano X firmware update)
Well you do in that all the interactions with the software and wallet apps hapoens through the open source coin apps. This is why this new stuff being baked into the firmware going forward is the issue.
Just got my Jade and it's a mixed bag. For the money it seems ok, but the PC app crashed a few times on me. The QR feature isn't built into the Green app, it works off the browser and their site isn't working for me. I'd expect things to improve with time but for now it's just ok.
@@CryptoGuide Correct. After I enter my pin on the jade it displays the animated QR code. I'll scan that with my phone but then it never displays the next QR for me to scan with the Jade. I'm gessing the servers were offline at the time? Not sure. I like the idea of it, but if the service is unreliable it kind of defeats the purpose of the air gap use case. Not the end of the world since I can just use the USB cable to unlock. That works fine with Green on the PC.
@@CryptoGuide at 7:43 is the moment I get stuck. The phone never displays the big qr code for the jade to scan nor do I see the next button. All I see is a black square with the white camera logo.
If this is for beginners I must be dumb as fuck. So does the Bitcoin actually show up on the device? Or does it always show on the Green wallet? I’ve sent $10 from a wallet to my Green wallet and it arrived fine. I’ve then tried to send that $10 to the Jade and it now said it’s ‘Redeposited’ but I don’t know where to? The $10 is still showing as ‘total balance’ in my Green wallet. Is that normal?
The balance is never displayed on the hardware device, it has no knowledge of your balance. If sent funds from the Jade back to the Jade then what you described sounds normal.
Yep, worked really well. It supports saving multisig wallets on-device just like a Coldcard, Keystone, Bitbox02, so much better than the likes of Ledger/Trezor
I've used KeepKey and Trezor, recently got Jade and haven't used yet. So far from beginner/inexperienced. Yet I cannot figure out who this video is made for. Everything mentioned assumes you already know what every term means and how it works. Clicking the Jade without showing the wallet interface is borderline useless. Huge number of terms mean nothing unless you already know what they all mean. But if you know, then of what use is the video? Like I said, cannot figure out who this is made for?
The battery isn't removable in terms of just unclip, but the case is easy to open (two hex screws) and it can be easily unplugged. (Not soldered in or anything)
Hi. I'm new to crypto and am weighing up the Blockstream Jade and Bitbox02 for my hardware wallet. I've watched your videos on both and they each seem really good in their own ways so I'm not sure which to go for. My plan for now is probably just to buy and hold Bitcoin, but in future I might want to start investing in altcoins as well which makes me lean towards BitBox02. Other than the price, do you think there would be a particular reason to choose the Jade over the Bitbox? Both seem good in terms of security and ease of use so not sure if there's much to set them apart. Thanks
The first thing I will say is that both are very good devices. The main difference comes down to thinks like Bluetooth and camera functionality with the Jade, so if you want to do something like use it with an iPhone, or do the QR airgap thing, Jade does that. (And does mobility better generally) If you want anything other than Bitcoin then you will need the Bitbox :)
Thanks for replying. I have an iPhone 6s and I've read in a couple of places that the blockstream green app for the Jade can be buggy at times. Do you think my device would be too old to run the app well or should it not be an issue?
Hi -- I'm looking to replace Trezor wallet and, after your feature comparison (fabulous), I noticed your review of Coldcard is of the Mk3. Wondering if you will be updating that review for Mk 4 in near future? Many thanks!
It's basically the same, just has a second secure element and has more ram for larger transactions. (Not large as on value, but large as on data, like Multisig)
I'm certainly impressed with what they have done and nothing comes close for the price. (And I'm not sure the higher price of other options is justified in terms of security and features)
To be fair you didn’t title your video “beginners”, which is what I implied you did. It is safe to assume that north of 50% of viewers will be fairly new to the entire “crazy and often hostile environment” as you stated yourself, in which case anyone deciding to pull the trigger and try it would absolutely need a step by step guide without any assumption of previous knowledge, which is (I understand) difficult for someone building their own wallets, for example. To sort of answer your question, I installed green app on windows laptop and before plugging the device App had me choose the option of “storing keys on the computer” or “storing keys on the hardware device”, I got spooked as none of several tutorials mention this, why is that even an option? Well, most likely bc the App is designed to run both hot wallets and cold storage devices, but it’s only my assumption 1st, and 2nd, people running into unexpected decisions won’t gamble 20 bucks, let alone 200 or 2K without simplicity and clear guidance. All this in case we do want adoption, if not then none of this matters…
So basically the approach in the video was to start with the device and work through the default setup, rather than start off with the software. (As it sounds like you did)
Yea it's a challenge as there is nothing stopping someone from just downloading the software first and getting mixed up like you did. (Especially when the software can be used without the hardware)
Hi - great video - super helpful. A quick question about needing the random number (PIN) generated by Blockstream could become a liability. If Blockstream should go out of business, does that mean you'd be locked out of the device? Many thanks in advance advance.
I think you're referring to the blind oracle/PIN protection. If Blockstream's blind oracle were to go down, you can access Jade without an oracle by manually entering your seed phrase or scanning a SeedQR... or you can also set up your own PIN oracle and use that instead
You are correct that the Jade requires the external PIN-Server to be functioning to be able to be unlocked normally. (This is true whether you are using Blockstream's server or self hosting one) You can still unlock the wallet using something like a SeedQR or wipe/restore it from your backups, as these aren't dependent on Blockstream at all. (And you could also select a different PIN-Server as part of the re-initialization, so the hardware can continue to be used even if Blockstream were to disappear)
This is the best value by a long way, Bitbox02 is probably the simplest in terms of a USB device like a Ledger. Coldcard is fine too, but only for more advanced users. (If you have to ask them Coldcard probably isn't for you)
Really gives you a better sense of how or all works together. I actually prefer the DIY options, as there is a sense of satisfaction in having done it yourself. I'm building a few options that use the camera, so still playing around with the hardware and software :)

It feels rather unfortunate to call these devices wallets when (and correct me if I'm wrong) they merely store keys to a wallet~address on the network...? I don't know how to call them, but using one word to refer to two fundamentally different elements in the ecosystem adds to the confusion. (Yes, I know you did not come up with those.)
Great video, thank you for posting and sharing the link to comparisons page! I'm just starting on my search for $B only hodl solution, and trying to wrap my head around security tradeoffs. Regarding the comparison webpage, I'm curious why you scored coldcard's security higher than jade's security score, since coldcard has secure element? I heard the SE requires NDA and therefore is not fully open source? Many thanks :)
There are a few things here. Firstly, if you go into the spreadsheet you will see why the security scores are different. Basically it mostly comes down to the Coldcard having extra features like a multiple duress type pins, easy adding of diy entropy and a two step PIN workflow that boosts physical security slightly. Devices like Coldcard and Bitbox02 use off the shelf, very simply secure elements that aren't really customisable and don't have any NDA for the developer. (Though from a licence perspective, Coldcard doesn't use an open source license) Functionality Jade and Coldcard are very similar and I'm really not sure the price premium for Coldcard is worth it at all.
I’m going to buy one with your affiliate link. Question. You are smarter than me. So when it comes to the code. What’s the deal with the code going to the jades server. Are you sure they can’t get seed data? Is there a way to opt out of having their servers interact with my device? Do you still trust trezor? Would love your opinions on all of this Ps: thanks for getting me my bitcoin back. I will say thank you a million times because you’re the best.
Basically seed is encrypted on your device locally, but needs some information from the remote server to be able to decrypt it. The Pin Server doesn't store any part of the seed or private keys. (this is why it's referred to as being blind) You can host your own PIN Server, or just use the device statelessly if don't want any secondary system to help secure the wallet. I think that Trezor is fine, but devices like the T are way overpriced for what they offer.
I think it's a great option. It's easy to use for newbies, has features for advanced users if you want and is far cheaper than comparable products like Coldcard.
It certainly is. The default wallet app (Green Wallet) that comes with it is easy to use and flexible for both large and small amounts. (And it is also a great device for more advanced feature if you want to use those down the line)
Great job explaining, but it seems like a lot to me. I'd like to see a company come out with a very simple hardware wallet with fingerprint and/or face recognition, along with other verifications.
It's certainly got some extra features, but I do think it's questionable whether it's worth it for the extra cost when compared to Jade for most people...

In terms of Eth, you could need a separate device. (So you could get something like a bitbox02 ua-cam.com/video/9dBSQVdfsmc/v-deo.html that can just do both)
Whatever you do get off ledger
So if you restore phrase from ledger to blockstream your all set? That sounds simpler than sending with fees. Did I understand correctly? Thanks in advance
Yep, that's ir
@@CryptoGuide do you recommend restoring or sending over btc network to mitigate ledger issues? Thanks
Do you have to touch Blockstreams servers to activate/use this wallet? If so I would be worried about privacy...
No you don't.. You can run your own pinserver, or just run it statelessly if you want.
@@CryptoGuide wish I knew how to do that. Got any video tutorials?
Haven't done a video yet. The documentation is here help.blockstream.com/hc/en-us/articles/12800132096793-Set-up-a-personal-blind-oracle and they also have a beta app that can be used with Umbrel nodes
@@CryptoGuide What do you mean by running it statelessly? As I've seen in the video, you need to insert PIN even while setting up a wallet, which means server must be involved from the very beginning?
Is there a way to use Jade ONLY with seedphrase (and passphrase), completely bypassing use of PIN?
Yes you can. Basically you can unlock it with a seed that you enter (or scan as a QR) every time you use it.
Dose it has the features of passphrase (24 +1)?
It fully supports BIP39 passphrase, yes
Is it possible to simply memorize the seed and still use the device airgapped? Eliminating the need for a physical copy of the seed or qr code. Im concerned with exposing the qr code or having it stolen.
If you want, but relying on your memory is a guaranteed way to lose funds. If you are want to add a layer of protection to your seed backups, this can be done through a BIP39 passphrase. (Which you would also back up, though not together with the seed)
Dudes please do not do this what of u forgot its to important of a thing to just forgot
Yep... very easy way to lose everything.
Can you operate (send and receive btc) by only using the camera (scanning) without interaction with any software?
You will need to use some wallet software to be able to send funds, as you need to create the transaction itself. (Even if you are signing via QR codes or something)
Wait. CN I have a seed phrase and a seed qr or do I need to choose one
You can have both, a SeedQR is just QR code representation of your seed.
Is the firmware already installed? How can you be sure it wasn't compressed? For example, Trezor comes without firmware.
Firstly, Trezor actually does come with firmware pre-installed. (You can watch my DIY video for Trezor One to understand which part this is)
Secondly, the model for secure boot on ESP32 is basically that once enabled, it will only run firmware signed with a specific key.
Yes you can
Hey great video sir. So with jade, there are 2 ways of storing your recovery phrase - either as 12 words or by SeedQR? And the way you store it doesn't affect your ability to use QR mode correct?
That's right, you can also store it in both if you really want.
Your recovery phrase (and BIP39 passphrase, if you are using one) are what you need. :)
@@CryptoGuide thank you
No worries, stay safe
I don't know what I messed up, I thought I selected single wallet and ended up with a address starting with 3. Did I get a boring legacy segwit, I thought it had native segwit option... What is the average difference in fees between legacy and native ?
This is just a legacy-segwit type address, which is the default.
Can I set up the wallet from my phone since I don't have a computer?
Yes
Thanks this was very helpful, just one thing confused me, you can do a firmware update interacting via mobile app, don't necessarily needs a desktop version of blockstream green ?
Yep, firmware updates can be done using either the mobile app or the desktop app.
Good video.
I have a Green wallet.
There are 2 wallets on the Green app.
One says “wallet” and the other says “Jade”
I sent Bitcoin to Jade and it shows up in both wallets as the same transaction.
Regardless of the Bitcoin wallet, you don't need any hardware or software to be online to receive a transaction. (Though there are security trade offs if you don't verify the address on the hardware device.)
What if the block servers go down? what functionality does the hardware looses?
None, though you would need to do a factory reset and restore from your seed backups to use a different blind pin server.
Im going to get one of these. I've had it with Ledger and dont like Trezor.

Great, it's a solid product
What about ColdCard?
This is so confusing. If I’m using strike app and want to send BTC to my wallet, after I setup jade can I just use QR codes to send it?
Basically you can just go in to blockstream green, select to receive Bitcoin and then send it to the QR code.
So to use the cold storage wallet you have to first connect to a hot phone after having it generate a private key?? what?
The private keys never leave the Jade, but the Jade also doesn't store the decryption keys for the wallet data on-device, but rather stores it on the blind Pin-Server. (The phone being hit is irrelevant for this step, as the Jade is communicating through the phone, not to the phone)
I’m trying to setup my watch only… but when I enter the XPUB on the green app it says “authentication required”
I can't replicate this issue, it imports fine when I log in with either biometrics enabled or disabled.
@@CryptoGuide correct me if I’m wrong
1st step- pull up XPUB on the Jade “shows me QR”
2nd step- open green app, add wallet, view mode only.
3rd step- scan the QR
Right? I tried by checking the biometrics box and without checking the box neither works. This sucks
So does it add correctly if you attempt to add it to something like Blue Wallet? (Basically to work out if you are messing up the workflow on-device or having an issue with green itself)
@@CryptoGuide I’ll try it out. Thanks buddy
@@CryptoGuide I got the watch only working… during my initial setup it ask me a question but I didn’t see that question on your initial setup it was a yes or no answer. I forgot what the question was smh :( something about “allowing” ughh any of this ring a bell for you?
I just setup my jade but I forgot to initialize it first. It still let me create a new wallet. Is this ok?
I don't quite understand what you mean, but if it lets you create a seed then you are good to go.
Does the blockstream jade create unique public keys with each transaction?
Yep, Jade generates a fresh address for every transaction.
7:01 Is there any possible way that the company behind blockstream
Jade could steal someone’s private keys or data based off this function?
The only way that they could do this would be to push a malicious firmware update. (Which would likely be noticed by the community as Jade has deterministic builds)
@@CryptoGuide ok thank you so much for responding quickly!

If you are on Android then you can also connect via USB
Thanks for your videos. I have a question for using a mobile wallet app as "watch only"
Is this option safe to check Bitcoin balance with worry about losing it?
I don't want to use mobile apps for any Bitcoin transactions, only watch. Thank you
Yep, that's exactly what watch wallets are for.
may i ask which is the safest wallet to store btc and eth?
Bitbox02 is a great option that I have done a video on I'm the past.
Is possible to remove the battery and use a mobile phone charger for power on the Jade walllet, I think is no good ideia to long hold. Thanks for the vídeo.
Yea it's just got standard hex screws, so you can just remove the battery if you like
is this device only for bitcoin? why does it say AND liquid assests?
Liquid is basically a layer 2 network for Bitcoin, so supports Bitcoin (and other things like USDT) on liquid.
I dont undestand what qr code serve for
It depends, as they can be used a few different ways with Jade. (Loading Seeds, exporting wallet data, verifying addresses or signing transactions)
At 9:36 in I had to bail. That seems super complicated and I was lost after only a brief time.
If you are getting lost with Jade then probably just get a Ledger, they are the simplest to use :)
Why would you pick legacy segwit. Transactions will be more expensive with that
It's just the default. (The fee difference between that and native segwit isn't huge either)
Bitcoin storage is complicated ...
It's certainly a learning curve, but it's not too bad if you just stick with using the device via Bluetooth with the vendor supplied Green Wallet.
If you think this is complicated try wiring money to an exchange. I'll take this any day to move currency

Something about keeping it on block stream servers?? Why rely on their servers?
What is "it"? Are you referring to their Pin Server approach? (You can self host your own PIN Server if you like)
I'm actually looking for a tutorial to use Jade with Electrum Desktop wallet, Electrum Personal Server, and my own node, which I've had running with Ledger on a dedicated PC successful
Jade "Just works" with Electrum, so the process is identical to what you did with your Ledger device.
Is it only for Bitcoins or works with whole.range of cryptos?
Jade is Bitcoin only
This may be a good Ledger replacement now. Can you use the words from a ledger on this?
Yep, you can import the Ledger seed and keep going without moving any funds. (Just be aware that this is a Bitcoin only device)
@@CryptoGuide But doesn't that still result in your seed being compromised if you're using the one from Ledger?
Ledger hasn't compromised any seeds at this time, the concern is that the new recovery feature will allow this in the future. (With the new Nano X firmware update)
@@CryptoGuide You never know... Since their code is not open source...
I haven't had any issue with Green. So in terms of the QR login, are you saying that the PinQR helper website doesn't load at all for you?
@@CryptoGuide Correct. After I enter my pin on the jade it displays the animated QR code. I'll scan that with my phone but then it never displays the next QR for me to scan with the Jade. I'm gessing the servers were offline at the time? Not sure. I like the idea of it, but if the service is unreliable it kind of defeats the purpose of the air gap use case. Not the end of the world since I can just use the USB cable to unlock. That works fine with Green on the PC.
I have never had an issue with it at all. So are you saying that the "next" button did nothing for the animated QR?
@@CryptoGuide at 7:43 is the moment I get stuck. The phone never displays the big qr code for the jade to scan nor do I see the next button. All I see is a black square with the white camera logo.
Sounds like a browser issue on your phone. (Specifically that you haven't given the page permission to use your camera)
Does it work with Ethereum?
Nope, this is only for Bitcoin
have you tried Jade as a multi sig?
Yep, worked really well. It supports saving multisig wallets on-device just like a Coldcard, Keystone, Bitbox02, so much better than the likes of Ledger/Trezor
@@CryptoGuide thank you for replying.

it's a bitcoin-only wallet? or other coin types supported?

I've used KeepKey and Trezor, recently got Jade and haven't used yet. So far from beginner/inexperienced. Yet I cannot figure out who this video is made for. Everything mentioned assumes you already know what every term means and how it works. Clicking the Jade without showing the wallet interface is borderline useless. Huge number of terms mean nothing unless you already know what they all mean. But if you know, then of what use is the video? Like I said, cannot figure out who this is made for?

Do you think this is more secure than ledger nano x? Thinking it's time to move away from them. Thanks cheers!
In some ways yes it's more transparent, but in other ways it's less secure
@@CryptoGuide how is it less secure? Thanks
Doesn't have a secure element, so can't verify hardware genuineness in as robust of a way. (This is basically true for everything but Ledger)
But jade is more secure against 3rd party entities right?
Depends on what you mean by that, (which entities specifically) but if you are running your own PIn-Server then yes.
(And does mobility better generally)
If you want anything other than Bitcoin then you will need the Bitbox :)
Thanks for replying. I have an iPhone 6s and I've read in a couple of places that the blockstream green app for the Jade can be buggy at times. Do you think my device would be too old to run the app well or should it not be an issue?
I have an iPhone 7 here and it works fine if that helps
Desktop as well? Or, only mobile?
Desktop and mobile
Hi -- I'm looking to replace Trezor wallet and, after your feature comparison (fabulous), I noticed your review of Coldcard is of the Mk3. Wondering if you will be updating that review for Mk 4 in near future? Many thanks!
It's basically the same, just has a second secure element and has more ram for larger transactions. (Not large as on value, but large as on data, like Multisig)
@@CryptoGuide Super -- thank you!

Do you think this is the best overall HWW now ?
I'm certainly impressed with what they have done and nothing comes close for the price. (And I'm not sure the higher price of other options is justified in terms of security and features)
@@CryptoGuide agreed. I just wish they make bigger screen
Yea the tiny screen is certainly a major shortcoming. (One of the corners to cut to keep prices down)

(As it sounds like you did)
That sounds correct, I appreciate the clarification
We're also working on a super easy personal blind oracle app for node-in-a-box implementations like Umbrel

This or bitbox02 or cold card?
This is the best value by a long way, Bitbox02 is probably the simplest in terms of a USB device like a Ledger. Coldcard is fine too, but only for more advanced users. (If you have to ask them Coldcard probably isn't for you)
How does it feel to have the hardware AFTER tickereing and hacking the source code of it ? :-)

One more request ... have seen several video about the Tangem wallet. It looks interesting, but all the vids seem a little superficial -- ie/ how easy it is to use. I wonder if you could give it a review with your usual eye to the most important question: security. Many thanks in advance!
It's closed source and doesn't even have a screen to verify transaction details and recieve addresses. (They are probably just spending a bunch on marketing at the moment)
@@CryptoGuide Thank you. I'm not sure about the verification of transaction details (I'm sure you're right), but I have read - and specifically on their site - that they are open source.

(Though from a licence perspective, Coldcard doesn't use an open source license)
Functionality Jade and Coldcard are very similar and I'm really not sure the price premium for Coldcard is worth it at all.
I’m going to buy one with your affiliate link. Question. You are smarter than me. So when it comes to the code. What’s the deal with the code going to the jades server. Are you sure they can’t get seed data? Is there a way to opt out of having their servers interact with my device? Do you still trust trezor? Would love your opinions on all of this
Ps: thanks for getting me my bitcoin back. I will say thank you a million times because you’re the best.
Basically seed is encrypted on your device locally, but needs some information from the remote server to be able to decrypt it. The Pin Server doesn't store any part of the seed or private keys. (this is why it's referred to as being blind)
You can host your own PIN Server, or just use the device statelessly if don't want any secondary system to help secure the wallet.
I think that Trezor is fine, but devices like the T are way overpriced for what they offer.
