I didn't get that far in the game, but I believe that they are sort of a second nobility that collects tax from the Villiens. But if I ever get back into the game I will test it out.

i started playing this game a bit ago and they wont build anything they don't build the wall or beds or anything they have all the material to do it but is there something I'm doing wrong or am I really missing something?

Are you giving them the materials, or making them available to buy in the store. Also, do you have a storefront for the warehouse? I find that if you donate the material directly, they will use them right away, but if you are just making them available for purchase, then they will pick and choose, even if they have enough money. As for the storefront, I found that this needs to be your very first step. If you plan out other building activities for your ruling family before you place the storefront, they will prioritize those first, leaving the storefront unbuilt and unmanned, which means that your peasants can't collect items given to them or buy new items from the store.
      Hope this helps.

I think it depends on how 'busy' they are doing other tasks. Sometimes they will prioritize one thing over the other, so if they are working a store or doing another task, they will only build in their 'free-time', which is not much.

@@JackelWolf yeah I wish I could give them or make things take a priority so it gets done, but I noticed that the manor never gets built either.

Yeah. 1 person as a builder is super annoying. You'd think you'd be able to hire someone to do it for you.

Sorry but you are wrong for most of the tips.
    1. Storefront in the market place may be a good ideea if you want to sell to the pops, but they will not just come and take. You have to set up what they can and can't buy. T+0 in the game, it is better just to grant them the materials. In this way you protect the resources when for when the king request is happening.
    2. Diversification is good for the most part, Animals + farming for hay for example. they dont have to spend money on the hey, and sell the overdraft. Wood + pigs, pigs actually are more important early to mid game (year 2) when you can build a butcher. if you dont have a bucher, pigs and are useless. The tip should be on the size of the plantation in regards to the number of people in the family. Regardless of the diversification, apples and potatoes are still food.
2.1 Skip the household and build the sleeping area inside the farmland itself. That way you save up a little space and do not strain too much the economy on the pops.
    3. At T+0, your only building material is hay. and it is ok because you dont have animals and it is otherwise useless. To build walls out of logs, you need a carpenter, and that requires a little time. For the most part, it is highly recommended to get the carpenter and update the walls and have roofs by the beginning of the first winter. If not, you will have issues with the cold.
    4. WRONG. you have ~800 hay in your inventory, and people cant eat hay. Only animals. All 4 resources on the top of the farming window produce hay and grain. Grain requires a windmill and baker. Things you dont have in early start. Recommendation: use the initial hay to build houses and get it back when you update to wood walls. First farm should NOT produce hay and grain. Only do it when you have animals.
    5. This one i have to agree with but with the remark to keep an eye on the resources. you consume them from the local inventory, and the arriving family will basically get it for free. The only building i would construct like this are the Inn to get that head start and start getting population as early as possible. And maybe in mid-game, something from the clergy because they are a pain.

Unfortunately, this video came out months ago while the game was still in Early Access. I actually just started playing again since the 1.0 version came out last week, and there have been some major changes to how the game runs. Carpenters and Arcitects being one of the biggest. Also, starting the game with servants and guards was not even hinted at back when I played in early access. I think even some of the recipes have changed for building walls and such.
