I have 2 split systems- 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs, and might help to include that. I can't imagine my house running my house on a single unit regardless tonnage. I had to move the upstairs thermostat out of stair/hall area to a bedroom due stack effect is upper hall. If set at 72, bedrooms got to be near 60. So bedroom feels normal while upper hall feels warmer. Doesn't matter where thermostat is since all temps are relative and based on feel, not the digital display!
All good points. Of course every home is quiet different. I used a basic example to try to help folks understand why there temps are different if only one thermostat is in use.
