I just Had my SHIFTER CABLE arrive fory 2000 Escalade.........it was $100.00 at Parts store......but it was .27.00 $ ...on eBay.........yaaay

My shifter cable doesn’t reach to the park gear only to neutral and the furthest I got it to reach is reverse gears work only when in neutral but doesn’t go to reverse or park would that be cause I didn’t install it correctly?
Sounds like you need to adjust it. The cable can be lengthened and shortened at the section where they are joined together.
@@curtiswhite7720yea I’m having the same problem, can’t quite get it to reach enough, thing is I’m compressing the adjustable section all the way and it’s like 1/4 inch short
i changed my shifter cable and the shifter was still loose and wouldn’t change gears, when i move the shifter it moves the cable but not the lever, is it just and adjustment problem or could it be something else?
Could be adjuster or could be transmission shift shaft, probably cable tho, if you undo cable from both sides and the shift shaft moves and the shifter handle on the steering column moves fine than you know it’s the cable

@@car7925 the shifter should be able to move freely but I’m not sure what you mean by loose, I’m gonna guess that the cable is t connected inside and isn’t actually moving the shift shaft on the transmission
@@Tech-28 yes sorry i meant freely, and it is connected inside. its still moves freely even after the cable was installed

Yes but usually there is a problem with the cable. Look at aftermarket stores, not dealers, or online, rockauto, ebay, etc.
I only came to this video bc I was wondering why I had a tube just stickin out next to the shifter cable. Anyone know what that tube is? It’s seen at 2:24 in the video
That is just a vent tube from the top of your transmission. It comes off the top center Tee's off one comes out over the transfer case and the other end goes right above the top bell housing bolt. In some cases they will spit a little trans fluid out.
