Police Showed Up To My Pawn Shop After I Bought Stolen Property By Mistake

- This weeks video is definitely like no other before. I bought some jewelry from a lady that claimed to find it in a garage she was asked to clean out and get rid of. Well, that's what she said anyways. Come to find out that wasn't the case at all. She actually stole it from someone that consider her a friend. So, the local police station makes a visit to our shop to see what we actually bought from the lady. Next, the actual victim comes into the shop to pick up her stolen property and tells her side of the story. After all that is done, a guy comes into the shop with some silver and is shocked by what we offer after being lowballed by local coins shops in our area. So if you enjoy everything resell or pawn shop related, this may be the channel for you.

Her whole body language said 2 things, drugs & stolen property.
you cant always run a business based on body language. how many pawn shops do you own?

Whoa, Leo can't believe I spotted a comment by you just after watching your new Dyson video😂 what a small world

Imagine selling stuff you stole from a friend and you go to the one pawn shop that has a poppin youtube channel 🤣 karmas real
Looks like her sister or mother, either way they look related.
Right, what the heck
Common sense is a blessing
Drugs arent great man
Knew it, homie. u could tell she didn't own that stuff. lol I even commented something 2 that effect
You absolutely don't own any of us an apology. It just shows that your not a judgmental person and you give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Truth. Honesty is a valuable commodity in today's society, and this man has it in spades. He did the right thing, and that's worth more than all of the riches in the world. Jesus said that the soul is worth more than all of the riches in the world.
if he didnt, noone would have said anything, and she would have gotten away. any other pawn shop that doesnt film and post would have bought it off her for $100 and noone would have seen to call her out on it
Bullshit. The main business of pawn shops is dealing in stolen goods and they all know it. I know from experience that even if this same lady showed up in a couple months with another load of stolen goods and another bullshit story, they will buy her stuff. The idea that he gets to charge the original owner and make her buy back her own stuff so he doesn't lose money for participating in criminal activity. Pawn Shops are the shadiest business there is. I'm actually shocked they had not already melted everything, because that is what they usually do - melt everything the day they buy it so the cops will have nothing to retrieve.
@@nathanmoses1953 he clearly said in the video by law they have to hold stuff for a minimum of 30 days and they keep receipts. If the cops came by and it's "missing" his whole business gets shut down.
I called it! Just looking at her mannerisms and the fact that she returns again with a whole bunch of other "found silver" was sketchy at best.
She's defiantly on that meth
She's old but definitely gave off that tweaker vibe
@@fauxque5057 She's probably 22 .. just the result of Meth.
Don't let age fool you.... there are 80 year old tweakers in my area 😅
Everyone called it..... We all knew she stole that. Crack and meth are demons.
I was one of the commenters on those original videos of the lady bringing in the stolen items. I commented that the lady stole those items and that she was selling them for drugs because she was a tweeker. I was skewered for my comments. But I nailed it! I worked with that population for years. I can spot them a mile away.
Well played !
I mean I commented as well, along with like thousands of other people with functioning eyes and brains that said she was a tweaker lmfao. You don’t have some kind of “gift” for spotting tweakers, they’re very obviously tweakers. So this video isn’t surprising at all.
Yeah it was pretty obvious if you’ve spent any amount of time around a person on meth
Everyone with common sense knew. It is truly scary how many gullible goofs there are in the world that can't spot a criminal in 2 seconds
Same here. Was obvious a mile away to me.
Just her body language of her going into a pawnshop was spot on.She was acting nervous both times she walked in.Anyone who is from the streets would catch on to her actions.

@@FarrahnsMomJason probably lives on the street. Tell me how I know someone is going to steal from my store and I know which ones will do it. I’m always right. It never feels good.
@FarrahnsMom it's profiling for a reason. Profiling is a positive thing on many levels. This lady is obviously a meth addict. If you have been around that environment, you know what it looks like.
Somebody who's never been on the streets could tell there was something seriously wrong. Very jumpy and not sure of what she had, see how different this lady is she knew what the heck she had. Not many people would get rid of silverware like that, vintage silverware can go for a lot. I was selling just small spoons, for a lot a each on eBay.

Ya, I love when people talk about court as if it is somehow an easy and automatic process. Trying to squeeze blood from a rock. Like she said, she ended up about as good as you can hope in a situation like this.
I saw her reaction and knew it was stolen. When you take something to pawn and know nothing about the items. Sad. God Bless you for being so honest.

The real truth is there are people who act just like her, and have the same story. Who are infact telling the truth. Once you've been around enough people you start to learn your perception is truly not the reality. Even though 99% of the time it may be the case. Live in the moment

So strange that the pawn shop does not suffer the loss and is able to sell back the items. In the UK, these items would have been confiscated right away by the police and the pawn shop manager takes the loss . So weird that allowed to sell back the stolen items to the victim
I could not imagine my wife’s wedding ring getting taken. I do not care what I paid for it. It’s priceless. Glad to see you help that woman get her ring back.
Same here. My wife is wearing my deceased mothers wedding ring, also priceless!
Yea she seemed very torn up over the ring. She said she was struggling…hence the ring already having damage she couldn’t fix. Hopefully she gets her cash back. I watched a judge order someone like her “friend” to maintain life insurance of at least what she owe in restitution listing the victim as the beneficiary. I’m guessing this may be the only way she is made whole. From the looks and behavior of the woman, she may not have a long wait. Sad but true
Im glad you all are fair like that. Telling a guy "nah we cant do that" when he asks for $250 because theyre worth more and offering $380 says a lot about ya'lls character and morals. Good job guys.
I knew it!! Haha. It's great that you are keeping videos of your interactions! Congrats on the 50k!
Tremendous respect for you being fully transparent on the lady who stole from her friend. It just adds to the authenticity of your channel. Everyone craves more truth on social media…just way too many staged channels out there.
true. too many staged channels that are just for attention and clicks. sadly.
In the UK where I'm from, the shop will lose in this situation. They have to bear the cost. The original owner who it was stolen from gets their property back for free, the police will seize it, even if the goods have subsequently been sold on.
While I dont have to here, I retain all my purchased goods for 30 days. Last thing I want is to lose money on the goods then lose money again having to refund my customer, nor do I want my customer to be in a situation where they have to forfeit the item.
Unfortunately this is an occupational hazard. Thankfully it doesnt happen too often!
Great video as always.
Thats what i thought the law was here in the US too. Once i had a surfboard (500.00 retail) Stolen !...the police recovered it at a local surf shop and gave me my board back. The Surf shop was out whatever they paid the thief
and that's the last i heard about it. I assumed that was the law. Maybe it is different in pawn shops.
@@artrogue4150 Maybe the pawn shop paid so little, they were willing to just take the L on it.
@@Fanta.... could be i guess. To me it doesnt seem fair that i have to pay some
price to get MY goods returned. The entity

that loses out.
He held it for 30 days.. after that it's his.. it wasn't reported stolen in the 30 day period..
@@timstull1355 there is no 30 day statue of limitations on theft usually it is 90 days of not being reported that the Pawn shop can sell the items even if its not reported in 30 days the pawn shop is still legally liable to return the stolen property if its still in their shop. I will use an example a person goes on vacation for a month comes back home and reports item stolen from their home. The police find said property at a local pawn shop by law the merchandise was never legally sold because the real owner never sold it therefore the pawn shop must return the stolen items. The only exception to this is if the victim decided not to press charges for the stolen property because then it is deemed as indirect consent.
That woman is not your friend!!!! Friends do not steal from each other!!! Have the police arrested her for stealing this!!!

Here at our Pawn Shops if an item is stolen cops can come in and take it
They put a 90 hold on it here and basically we have to work it out with the owner and it becomes a civil matter. What state are you in?

I agree, you shouldn't judge people. You have a process in place to follow, so it all worked out. I'm glad you got your money back. Hopefully the owner learned a few things.
If she pressed charges she wouldn't have to pay. That makes pawnbrokers think twice about knowingly buying stolen stuff.

So disgusting that some people feel entitled to other people's stuff.
I don't know what state this pawn shop is in, but in florida you do not have to pay the pawn shop to get your stolen stuff back.
Sections 78.01, and 539.001(15), Florida Statutes, enables you to recover your property from a pawn shop without paying for it. But you must follow the proper steps. You may have to go through small claims court, but if you do it right the pawn shop will not only have to return your property, but will have to pay any court costs and lawyer fees you incur.
Same in vegas too...pawn stars talk about it frequently

The fact that this guy didn't exercise due diligence and bought the stuff in the first place tells me that he's as shady as hell. Been in the business for six years, but it took an inexperienced UA-cam viewer to actually see what he couldn't (or wouldn't) and take the appropriate action? Naaaahhhhh.....he should of at least sucked it up and gave the lady her property back free of charge.
