Great video Justin, you and your dad are good people, and you have a fantastic father and son relationship, you need to invest in a buffing wheel for cleaning up your bars Bro ,then stamp them they will look great
I lost my parents to dementia gives me something to look forward to, but I miss them everyday. I can still remember some things said and how their voice sounded when they said it.
Just a safety tip: torch the jewelry before you smelt it, less flame ups and smoke that way. Don't tap the graphite rod against the sides or the bottom of the crucible, that stuff is super brittle and will snap, you don't want the pieces of the rod sticking out the bar. Great Video !!!
I’ve been using the same graphite rod to stir, never actually broken andhting significant off….the tip very slowly melts/chips away….but if it were to happen, just remelt
Yes No T Shirt, Shorts and Tennis Shoes ! Serious Dog runs into table Knocks Pot over attempt to stop? OSHA or NAVOSH Safety First weather uncomfortable or NOT!
Dog this is a terrible video about gold he's smelting at a level 1/100 skill level. Actual children would have done a better job cus they wouldn't have been drunk like this guy and would have googled how to do it. Bro went full alcoholic caveman at this process.
I think the father/son duo just picked up a new hobby. You and your dad are skilled at a little bit of everything and always willing to learn new stuff. Good combo for success!!!
Awesome video. I'm glad to see that you pre-heated your mold. I agree with the other comments about the safety recommendations. But if you're going to do this more often, I would suggest you get a fire brick to pour on. Those bricks you're using can contain moisture, and if you spill some of your metal while you're pouring, it can cause your brick to spawl. It's not fun to get hit with hot metal and concrete.
I’ve been melting everything from aluminum to gold for a little over a year now and I tell you that one of most important lessons I learned was that you can’t hesitate when you pour. You have to pour in one quick consistent pour. Overall not too bad, you get better the more you do, and yes it does get addictive 😂. I’ve been learning how to refine gold and that’s my next thing to try…
I love seeing relationships like this. Two good dudes doing business and learning with each other then a little gift for the kids at the end. Good stuff.
Very interesting and enlightening video! I actually liked the filming at night as you could really see the red hot colors very well against the dark backdrop.
Wow, that was so cool watching you melt and pour that gold. I really got excited last week when you said you were going to melt gold and you showed me the smelter when I was in your shop. I really enjoyed watching you do that. Seems there's a lot of advice in the comment section so you and most of us will learn more as time goes on and you melt more, perfecting your craft and soon be pouring like a Pro. Keep up the great videos my friend and hope you all have a blessed week.
Just watched this older video on melting down your gold. Pretty cool how it’s done. Thanks for sharing this video. As always, you guys rock!!! The Whites from California. Stay safe
Love your content. I'm a sports, jewelry, and stamp collector who saw your channel and subscribed recently. I was close with my dad for 55 years before he passed and worked with him for 25. God bless. I have Dale Murpy's, Bob Horner's, Niekros, and all the 90's Braves in my PC. I'm a huge Met fan born and raised but when we weren't at each other's throats I was a huge Masdux, Smoltz, and Glavine fan. Not Rocker though he reminds he of a big Big mouth who's on tv insulting people every day ;) lol. You are a good man and hardworking. Thank you
Hi enjoyed your video , if I can give a little advice as a retired jeweler of 35 yrs , heat the mold that’s why the bottom had creators(cold mold) , pre torch the gold , the graphite crucible should have been seasoned first to avoid the heavy smoke or cracking , pour in one spot fairly fast the last drips are slag the gold was already out as it is extremely heavy , soak in diluted nitric acid to remove fire scale ,also most importantly 13.5 gold can legally be marked 14k there is a variance unless its marked 14 kp for plumb gold , there should be zero gold loss it is not possible to incinerate it , zinc on the other hand can evaporate and is extremely toxic and lastly on small amounts it doesn’t matter but the silver , platinum group metals your are giving away with every melt can be significant, he should of paid you for 14 k at a minimum I’m sure his refinery is paying him for all of it especially if there was any white gold which was mixed with nickel but now is likely alloyed with palladium Im sure people will disagree but just this old man’s 2 cents . Thanks for the video. And best of luck
Cool process and decent crucible! I can see that his will clean up the scrap gold process. Great and informative video. I think I may have to pick me up one of them.
Best video yet. The lighting was very good even for the night time. Great comments from your community. Can’t wait for your next gold video. Take care.
I love listening to your voice with the lights out and my eyes closed while in my business office. I feel like I am listening to Elvis "the pelvis" Presley. S_M_O_O_T_H_E.....Southern Style.....Thank you very much!
That was awesome watching you do that for the first time, you'll improve you process over time & get better that it! I think that would a great idea pouring some smaller molds to sell, I don't think people would be spending that much for your big bar pours? Maybe even getting you a stamp & putting your pawn shop logo on them!
I tuned in a few months back and this video convinced me to subscribe. I love your others videos with the behind the scenes at garage sales and your hustle, great stuff. However, I’ve also gotten into coin, silver, and gold collecting over the past few months and have always been intrigued with melting some of the stuff I have to make bars. Your willingness to try, learn, adapt and try again is awesome. While watching, I almost bought that furnace on Amazon until I got to the end and heard you say you bought it on eBay for a better price. I’m gonna go that route now. Keep up the great stuff you and your dad are doing together.
I'm glad you're doing this. I'm thankful to be watching you because I was going to do this for myself and I'm watching you make the mistakes that I would be making. I find it very funny. Good job on melting everything dude
So cool you get to hang out with your dad so much. Lost both of my parents to cancer. I enjoy watching your content.
Sorry for your loss and I really appreciate the support thank you so much.
Great video Justin, you and your dad are good people, and you have a fantastic father and son relationship, you need to invest in a buffing wheel for cleaning up your bars Bro ,then stamp them they will look great

I went in to a pawn shop several years ago and wad expecting around 60 to 70 bucks"" he gave me $120,00"" MADE MY DAY

@@thomasgentry6201 lmao….dont think osha is worried about him melting some gold in his garage
@@niagarajoe4402 Understood! Just hopefully nobody gets Hot 🦶 or injured. Smelting even small amounts is Dangerous!
@@thomasgentry6201 that’s true…I refine, so I’m using hydrochloric acid etc….so I’ve always got my gear on
Nice work! I like that gold guy being a regular at the shop.
This is one of the best videos about gold. We love to see you try new processes. Great job.
