      This comment right here.....people are quick to voice their opinions in the comme ts on just about every firearms thread nowadays. I've been a part of many of them myself. It becomes very poisonous after a while. I'm learning to keep it positive and just let people enjoy what they have. It's a shame, but anyone notice how female shooters never argue about this sort of thing? It's always the guys.

    Just picked up my first DWX Compact with factory rail and optic cut. Absolutely love it! Own many wilson combat and nighthawks, and compared to them there is not much perceived difference especially for a 1.5k to 3.5k price difference. Has become one of my all time favorite carry options...Ballbearing smooth slide, very fast and flat shooting with laser accuracy! Well done CZ/Dan Wesson!!

      In this type of market, my pick is either the DWX Compact or Wilson Combat SFX9.
      Kimber also just unveiled a 4 inch barreled 15 round 9mm 1911 with no grip safety.
      I however will have nothing to do with Kimber. It's one of the manufacturers I avoid like the plague.

      @@HorsepowerDr Not so good quality control and even worse customer service.
      Even good companies let out a lemon here and there. But what seals it for me is not standing by your mistake.
      From what I've heard about Kimber, even if you get in touch with someone, they are likely to say too bad!
      There are many other companies with much better products and stellar customer service. Which usually isn't even needed. At the head of that list in my opinion is Ruger.

    I've put 1,000 rounds through mine in a month and I love it. Personally, I love that it has no rail, and I'm ambivalent about the lack of an optic cut. The only thing that really bothers me is the magazine situation. A $2,000 gun needs to come with more than 2 mags. Dan Wesson is also a bit disingenuous on their webpage. It takes 75 compact mags, but it requires the thinner Henning group base plate. I bought some inexpensive 75 compact mags from MecGar and they don't seat due to the thicker base plate.

      It’s an oddball $1800 fun gun for now. Rail and optic cut would appeal to Limited Optics shooters. There’s a lot of IPSC influence in European design hence all the CZ ads where iron sign Divisions are still going strong. DWX is positioned just like the Shadow 2 to excel in USPSA. It just needs a few regional touches without paying CZ Custom pricing for the options.

      When they actually came out with the Dan Wesson DWX, I said to myself, "Well, dang, I guess I am gonna have to buy it now since I nagged them to make it in the first place".

      Just save $5.50 a day.
      After a year you’ll save $2k.
      Get this or anything else with $2k.
      If your bank does it, set up a automatic withdrawal to your savings once a week for $38-$40.
      I have this setup every Saturday for $50 (paid on Friday). I don’t do it for a gun but just in general to help save money.
      And if you end up needing it, well just pull it out of your savings. But “not having” the money in your main account, you don’t see it and think you don’t have it. It can help to save.
      Everyone and situation is different but hell even saving a dollar a day is $365/year that you can put towards a new gun or whatever.

    Just got one of these for 1500 with the intention of sending it right out for an optic cut when it arrived. Took it to the range first to test it for any issues and it shot like a dream. The stock sights were excellent for the 25-yard distance max I tested and if I can pull off 40 yards at the outdoor range, I may not get it cut at all. It’s comfier and easier to shoot than the Stacatto c2 and cs I tried imo.
    No rail wasn’t a big deal for me since I never really go anywhere when it’s dark and I have a bigger gun with a light that I can carry the handful of times I have to.
    The smooth rounded edges of the slide, frame and grip, along with how slim the magazine baseplates are make this an awesome low-profile carry for me. At 1500 dollars, I consider it a steal.

    Lately I've been thinking about just selling my guns and getting into motorcycles or soup up my Miata to take it to the track. I've been having a mid life crisis the past few years, and I've just had no wind in my sails, especially since last summer. It's like the pilot life in my soul has gone out. I just feel so empty and hopeless and alone.
    I've been pretty into shooting matches the last few years, specifically USPSA and Steel Challenge. I did Production division two years ago with my Shadow 2, then Limited division last year with my TS2, and finally Open division this year because I scored a used Czechmate in February. I have had so many issues with my Czechmate; it's ridiculous. I'm using factory ammo with it, instead of loading my own major power factor, so that's part of it, but I wish it ran like my TS2 does. It seems like it will work fine one minute, and then it fails the next. Also, the damn mag funnel keeps coming off, like the screw keeps coming loose. If I try to tighten it too much, then it pushes the mag well back so it's not lined up right. I've been having the optic mount screws come loose pretty often too, but I just put enough Loctite on those to hold it in place finally at this last match I did. I could probably get enough for a down payment on a Suzuki GSX-R 600, but that's probably not the smartest first bike for me lol
    Things really fell apart last summer, and I just haven't really felt alive since then. I was so happy in the beginning of last summer because I was engaged, I was working overtime to save up for our dream, and things were just going well. Then, my dad died, my fiance ghosted me for another guy, and my job I'd had for almost five years fired me b/c my performance declined in the 3 weeks since my dad had died. My boss went from hugging me at my dad's funeral, saying they were there for me, to saying they wanted to "transition to (me) no longer working there" a few weeks later. It was even more of a shock than my fiance running off with this other guy the week before that.
    On the bright side, I ended up finding a new job in November, that's a much shorter commute and I generally like it better than my old job, I started lifting weights because it helps me not cry all the time, and I'm still clean from hard drugs. The last time I used was December 17, 2018, when I shot up fentanyl and overdosed and almost died. I was really close to relapsing last summer, but I knew that wouldn't help anything, and also that my ex damn sure wouldn't come back in that case.
    I finally took the written motorcycle test yesterday, so I can try out a motorcycle. I had a Toyota MR2 turbo about ten years ago, that I REALLY miss. I still remember its VIN. Its name was Cornelius, and it was a "Steel Mist Gray" moon roof SW20. I can still remember how the turbocharger would spool up and you could hear it because it was right behind you when you drove. Fun fact, MR2 stands for Mid engine Rear wheel drive 2 seat. I really miss how it would push me back in my seat from the acceleration. I just don't get that in my Miata that I've had for like the past 7 years. I've also been thinking about upgrading my Miata, but I think I would need a whole new engine because I ruined the crankshaft by changing the timing belt myself and not torquing the crankshaft nut enough, so it messed up the keyway. A local shop epoxied it, but I don't think there's any way it could handle forced induction. I think the transmission is still good, though. If I could get like even just 200 horsepower at the crank in that thing, then it would be quick. The car only weighs like 2,100 lb.
    So yeah, I'm pretty much just a mess, and I'm sorry if you read all this. I'm in pretty good shape, and I am a recovering junkie, so hopefully someone can be inspired by that. I definitely believe that if I got in shape, then anyone can. I never had enough emotional pain to need the relief from working out until this past summer. I've been especially sad today because it was exactly one year ago that my now ex fiance met my relatives, and I just still can't believe that she dropped me like she did; I thought we had such a deep connection.

      That's fine but the thing is you don't have to use the rail or the optics cut. They are features that most people feel should come on most guns at this point.

      The whole reason it doesn't have any optical cut or pic rail is so it's as snag free as possible for concealed carry. I get that they CAN be complaints but this model is absolutely made to be this way.

    • @tylerwilliams6022
      @tylerwilliams6022 Рік тому

      Which one is the SFT9?
      Is it the one with 4.25 inch barrel/slide with conventional bushing internal extractor and non tri top slide?

    • @stevejohnson2998
      @stevejohnson2998 Рік тому

      @tylerwilliams6022 there are many configurations of this gun. barrell lengths are available from i believe 3.5 to a 5 inch . sft9 is short for single frame 9mm. if you search youtube for wilson combat or the gun guys they discuss it in depth. there are also a video of one of the frames being milled from the beginning

    • @tylerwilliams6022
      @tylerwilliams6022 Рік тому

      @@stevejohnson2998 No, SFT9 is exactly as I said. A commander length slide on the double stack 9mm frame.
      The name for the regular line is SFX9

    Thanks Chris. Really enjoying your work. My specific interest is in choosing a single handgun for cc and hd and, well, everything. My budget and local legislation means I can only have one and I am stuck with it. I am thinking 365X or G48/19 or PX4 (my favourite) or maybe a CZ? I would even consider a mid size revolver like a 686 or a GP100 ( one gun may mean limited experience and practice so maybe simple is best). All obviously solid candidates but keen to hear your views on “if I could only have one”.
