I’m a little late to the party, but I just found your channel and watched this video. So from the view point of a 1911/2011 owner as I did have a prodigy for a while that I carried. I put a ranger band on the grip to hold the grip safety down. I don’t want to have to grab my gun perfect under pressure and not be able to and then the gun not go off. And thats how most 1911/2011 guys are. Those who don’t buy the gun because of that, wouldn’t have bought the gun anyway because that platform just isn’t for them. Now I currently have the S2C as my EDC. It’s hands down the best handgun I’ve ever owned. It’s super easy to decock the hammer with some practice. I think the controls are easier to reach than a typical 2011, granted I don’t know if the kimber is the same way as I have not held one. The weight is exactly where I want the weight to be which is under the barrel with the large dust cover. Overall the S2C is a superior gun in virtually every way. Other than the trigger break, but that’s just hard to beat when you go up against a 1911/2011. With that said, a Cajun gun works pro kit will change that in a heart beat. Also I would trust the S2C to be more reliable. CZ is about as good as it gets for reliability. 1911’s and 2011’s just need more love to keep running good. They need cleaned every 500-1000 rounds. Most people don’t clean their shadow 2’s for like 15,000 rounds. They just continue to oil them. Both great platforms, but the S2C is better I personally think
I've recently decided to save some pennies for a high-end carry gun that's different from all the Gucci Glocks and Sig 365's and these 2 are what I've narrowed it down to. My carry gun is a Cajunized CZ P01 and has been a long time, so I obviously lean towards the Shadow, but I'm also a 2011 guy. I learned the manual of operation before I learned to drive, and I'm probably more accurate and faster with a 1911 style handgun than any other platform. It's a hard choice. Great review! You make a great point with the grip safety. The BUL Armory CC Ultralight is another option. I wish the Kimber had a grip safety. Cocked and locked with a sungle action is sketchy without a grip safety if you get in a tussel before you can get to your gun. The way I carry, I'd be lising something really important to me if it went off
Great comparison. For those of us who really love to zero in on trigger pull and reset, would you be able to turn the gun around and zoom in? Your hand was basically covering the trigger during trigger pull. Thanks. Keep up the good work!
Thank you guys. The things you discussed on these two guns. I had the same concern about about cocked and locked. I feel better with having a double action when I would use it. 👍
. I would say that You can throw extended safeties, and a CGW increased Pressure Dentent spring, on the CZ and the secure safety problem is ended. I carry it Cocked & Locked No Problems, and I'm used to carrying 1911's for years.... The CZ is just so much lighter, and shoots so much better than anything in its class... I cal it a competition carry gun. The Bottom line is if you shoot better with the CZ, then that's what you should carry... It could mean the difference between coming home or not.... Just Sayin'
Damn this is a hard choice. When I added a bigger safety to th CZ it cured the deficient safety it comes with. That KDC is freeking AMAZING, I shoot them the same. Just too darn hard to choose!!
Great work guys! I’m new to your channel and I love your clear and concise style. And yes, you reviewed two guns I’m very interested in (I’d probably have the Kimber already, except for the two Platypus’ about to be delivered). Great content!
PS. About CZ: A little frustration. Nobody doubts the quality, but whether it’s Shadow 2 Compact or DWX, CZ misses the boat on some little (big) things. IE., manual safety, mag baseplate interchangeably, etc. Stuff they could easily correct.
I have not held or shot the Kimber, however, I have many thousands of rounds through my shadow 2 compact and found it to be exceptional in every way. It is among my most accurate firearms and I think that the 4 inch barrel is a sweet spot for 9 mm metal framed guns. I own and compete with the shadow too, and the A01 LD, but I have over 100 pistols, so I feel qualified to at least render some judgment. In the end, the only thing that really matters is how the shooter and the firearm interface and everyone is different. I look forward to one day being able to shoot the Kimber so I can give an honest opinion. I’ve heard it is a terrific firearm
One thing that may affect your choice is that you can get Cajun Gunworks, pro package, which takes the CZ S2C which takes the gun to a whole new level.
Love Kimber. Cocked and locked is not an issue if you train that way and keep it in a proper holster. I mean I wouldn’t felon carry one that way. Love my boys 😂
Same. Got to hold it today and it's definitely a tad thicker than my S2C. I got medium hands and I felt that the s2c I could grip it firmer and wraps around better on my hands. Kimber looks Great in person and it'll light as heck.

Cz shadow 2 compact for me with the kimber you had to change the grips out and that was your big selling point for it and the original grips you didn’t like so it’s up graded stock out the box Cz wins cheaper faster and looks better and so many options for mag capacity
I own a CZ Shadow 2 compact. The trigger when in single action on it is way too light for carrying, and Cajun Gun works will tell you the same! The safety is way too mushy and much too easy to knock off safe. It needs extended safeties like the Shadow 2 full size. Anything that will fit the Shadow 2 full size internally will fit the compact. About the only thing that won't fit are the grips... If it had about a 3 to 4 lb trigger in single action it would be much better. Nobody will say they have springs to fix the mushiness of the safety. You can buy the extended safety levers that are the same ones that the Shadow 2 full size use if you can find them... CZ WILL TELL YOU THE GUN WAS BUILT TO FIT IN THE IPSC BOX. But they also want to sell them for concealed carry.
Doesn't carrying it as a DA/SA solve the trigger weight problem and act as a safety? Why would you want to ruin the shadow 2 heritage with a 5-6 lb trigger?
@@AJ-hn6fp if you ever have to fire it double action, after you fire a shot it automatically becomes cocked in single action. So the only way to decock it is by pulling the trigger while holding the hammer and manually lowering the hammer. Preferably to the what they call half cock position which is safe but feels slightly lighter then it would if it went clear back to full trigger pull double action.
@rickstatler5581 I know, I carry a S2C and I'm M class carry optics with a full size s2. What I'm saying is, if people want the decocker and safety, then get an sp01. The s2c has the nice light trigger is should for people who want a smaller shadow 2 pistol. And the demographic who has carried it will have decocked it about 12 million times for each stage start.
@@AJ-hn6fp and what I'm saying is if you ever have to defend yourself with it by firing a shot, it will then be cocked and locked. And if cops are there and you've got this thing cocked and locked and you're full of adrenaline, try and decock it with shaky hands in the presence of a cop, and see if you can do it without a negligent discharge. And if you have a negligent discharge in the presence of a cop I can just about guarantee you you will be dead a second or two later! And that my friend is the problem! Don't ever fire a shot accidental or intentional in the presence of one or several cops especially when they're looking at you as a possible perpetrator holding a cocked and locked pistol! Once again you will be DOA.......
@rickstatler5581 you're taking the wrong path here. I'd still say, there is another gun for you then. That level of mental gymnastics to justify not having a negligent discharge is absurd. Other option.... throw the safety on and put it back in the holster in my pants. This has gone down a strange path of theoretical thought that is honestly pretty silly. Decocking a gun without a decocker, which I've done about a million times, is not something I'm worried about. Just get another gun if that's a problem
Sin excusas la SHadow 2 es la mejor doble acción y más resistente desde el astrillado todo etc. no estoy favor ni contra de ninguna pero la malloria luego pierden el astrillado.etc.
I did exactly this and it's great. I also put the cajun stainless recoil rod and 13lb spring (supposedly same as oem weight) just because the eom recoil system is impossible to find
LOL it's 2024 right night sights vs RDO= night sights win! Safety SAO needs a safety DA/SA is not carried with safety (IMHO). So do you want a DA/SA or SA if you want a SA comparison should be CZ DWX compact vs KDS9C vs Wilson 9's DS in a carry gun reliability is the only criteria that matters
I am a CZ guy, but the Kimber has a firing pin block (drop safe) where the Shadow does not. I would carry the Kimber over the Sahdow, and I hate myself for saying it.
Drop safe is largely a marketing term for le contract sales. Most modern firearms, if left unmodified, are reasonably drop safe. It's when you add extended firing pins and change springs that you get issues
@@DarkPhoenixTSi the only ND from a shadow 2 that I’ve ever heard of was from a modified gun with an extended firing pin and reduced spring. Not once had it been reported that a Stock CZ S2 or S2C has had a ND due to a drop. Y’all tend to forget Staccato’s don’t have firing pin blocks….it’s not a big deal. And I’d rather have a manual safety for my EDC than a decocker.
Decocker not needed. Just pinch it or put your thumb in the way and let the hammer down. If that's a big deal for some reason then get an spo1 and have the shitty trigger with a decocker
@@thomaswolf6507 you can decock it manually. Putting your finger between the hammer and firing pin, press and release the trigger, your finger will guide the hammer down to half cocked position which is how it’s intended to be carried when in Double Action. Otherwise, carry it how it’s intended to be carried in Single Action cocked and locked. This procedure is explained in the manual if you ever do purchase one, it’s always best to read.

La shadow 2 es la mejor del planeta
If you're trying to tell me a Kimber is even in the class of A CZ shadow 2 you know nothing about weapons
On the CZ SHADOW 2 COMPACT I believe you can cheaply and easily swap out the safety for the factory decocker.
This isn’t fair lol the cz out shoots the Kimber on it’s worse day
Sin excusas la SHadow 2 es la mejor doble acción y más resistente desde el astrillado todo etc. no estoy favor ni contra de ninguna pero la malloria luego pierden el astrillado.etc.
Buy a set Lok palm swell grips and an S2 extended safety and you have a much better carry gun than the Kimber.
Also you can very easily decock the S2C.
So do you want a DA/SA or SA if you want a SA comparison should be CZ DWX compact vs KDS9C vs Wilson 9's DS
in a carry gun reliability is the only criteria that matters
I am a CZ guy, but the Kimber has a firing pin block (drop safe) where the Shadow does not. I would carry the Kimber over the Sahdow, and I hate myself for saying it.
I believe the KDS9 is series 70
@@deanriley4700 You are correct. I assumed that all of Kimber stuff was using their version of Series 80.
Someone else hammered the shit out of a cocked shadow 2 compact and with the stock firing pin the primer was not touched. It is drop safe.
Choosing 2 different pistols does not equal a clear winner!!!
Nice try
You can't decock a Shadow 2 compact? Yikes.
You can't decock a 1911? Yikes.
i manually decock mine every single day, no big deal...
Lack of decocker lever doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a decocker. See here: ua-cam.com/video/bwo5EVTg8HM/v-deo.htmlsi=jANlyPsFaes7Hm5m
Da/sa al the way.
Great vid.
Kds9 all day
