Great song writing from Chris Cornell, which was an often underrated aspect of what he brought to the table. Also, this song was written for the "Singles" (1992) soundtrack. It's a movie that really captures the generation. #RIPChrisCornell ✨🙏🤘

This has been my favorite Chris Cornell song for a while. It reminds me of the difficulties I'll have to push through in life in order to reach fulfillment: the cold floor, the long warm days, and the stormy rain, and how beautiful it all is. Despite all the pain, still that guitar just keeps chugging along through it all, just as our ancestors have and just as I will. I'd play this song every morning, driving to the construction site through the fog before the sun is up, knowing of the toil that awaits me. Hardly anyone reacts to this song (and not many people know about it either), so I'm really glad you two reacted to it, it put a smile on my face. And hopefully some more people have now been shown this amazing price of art for the first time.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Also found it on the Singles movie soundtrack. You know another great GenX, Alt-Rock/Grunge movie soundtrack to check out was The Crow..
Do people honestly think Singles was a good movie? I really don't get it. It's a false portrayal of Seattle in 1992-if you want a more realistic portrait of the Emerald City of 30 some years ago, watch American Heart with Jeff Bridges and Edward Furlong.
@@danielmaher7108 Who cares if the movie itself isn't very good, the soundtrack is one of the best of all time. With many songs only available on the soundtrack. Classic.
@@danielmaher7108 I think the only reason people like Singles so much is because of the music. It also has appearances by Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. People eat that up
It makes me sad when I realize how sad he actually was. I don't think some of us are able to pull ourselves out of that dark place and are usually the same people who would help anyone with their darkness but not ask for help with our own. RIP to an amazing soul who didn't realize he was. His was/is one of my fav voices EVER.🥺
when I listen to Chris' lyrics now after he took his life, it has dawned on me that he had been writing his suicide note for years and years. this is just another example. he suffered with depression for so long. I hope he has found peace now, wherever he is.
this super handsome multimillionare rock star with a lovely wife and family that could do whatever he wanted decided to cash out. That makes me sad. Them Benzos aight no good.
@@joesmith8725 Stop talking out of your ass about someone else’s pain. How bad do you imagine it must’ve been for him. To have a wonderful life, tons of money & a job you’re great at & loved by millions for doing. And you still want to die. Think about that, man.

Chris' best solo song is "Sunshower" it has a great melody. The music is great. The lyrics are beautiful, memorable, and have meaning. Listen to that one. I'm sure you'll agree.
thank god we still have the music to remind us of what a tremendous artist/singer this man was. have loved this song since i first saw the movie Singles and went straight out and bought the movie soundtrack cd
Chris Cornell is one of the very few singers who could belt with the loudest of rock singers, but also charm an audience with just his acoustic, a great ballad singer as well. Ironically, this song is from the SINGLES soundtrack. The movie was recorded several months before the Seattle grunge started booming. Chris has small bit part and the guys who are part of the Matt Dillon characters band in the movie, were Pearl Jam. When this movie was made, both were just local musicians no one had heard of.
"Ol' Blind dog Cornell" is what I think of whenever I hear this, I love it. I also think of seeing it when I watched "Man of Steel". Chris shared a similar story how his son came home after seing the movie and telling his dad he was in the film.
Sun shower is a beautiful song….. it’s helped me through some really dark times. One of his most uplifting songs . I’ve seen him with sound garden and his solo show. He is my idol
I love that Brad got this and was the first to give a great explanation. I love the lyrics in the bridge: “If I should be short on words, and long on things to say” You just hurt so much you can’t even begin to explain it all. I feel this way every time my chronic pain gets the better of me and I can’t get it under control.
Great song and great reaction. Lex, you really seemed to be feeling this one--you have an intuitive relationship with music. And props to Brad, for referencing the "Dark Night of the Soul" of St. John of the Cross.
This is another of his good ones. Birth Ritual is a good Soundgarden song from this 'Singles' soundtrack. I never succeed, but I keep trying to get just one 'Reactor' to react to Chloe Dancer/ Crown of Thorns by Mother Love Bone. MLB was the band the Seattle bands thought would open the door for the world to see the rest of them. The door still opened, even though Andy Wood died before their first and only album was released.

Back in the 90s again watching Singles with Alice in Chains playing in the background at the clubs they go to and Eddie Vedder making a cameo in Matt Dillon's band.
I still have a hard time dealing with him being gone and listening to him without getting all choked up. As others have said here "Sunshower" is another beautiful song by him.
I think you guys should check out some more Temple of the Dog material. It is what really turned me on to Chris Cornell as a songwriter. It's hard to think of one song to suggest, but maybe Wooden Jesus?
